The historical city center it´s must see. The Gaíba rive shore is amazing. Porto Alegre, like any other big city in the world, have itís problems, but the place deservs a visit, including the nearby cities of Gramado and Canela.

Porto Alegre is a big city with a felling of small town.
Porto Alegre is a big city with a felling of small town. Lots of green areas, parks and squares. The shopping malls are huge. The traffic is not bad, just avoid to go out at rush hour. The main food is bbq (gaucho stye) and has steakhouses all you can eat with a reasonable price everywhere around the city.

Porto Alegre is full of potential.
Porto Alegre is full of potential. However, I did not feel real safe walking by myself in some areas. On Sunday afternoon, I met a local who spoke English. She said my feelings were correct and that I needed to be VERY aware of who was around me. The town itself has an enormous amount of wonderful, old architectural beauties to behold. If you are traveling through this area, a one-day stop is sufficient.

Compared to Salvador, Recife or Rio Porto Alegre has not so much to offer. There are some museums worth a short visit, there is the botanical garden and the Orla do Guaiba, the promenade/beach at the river, where it is especially nice to go to see the sunset. I think three days are enough.
A fourth day can be spent in Gramado and Canela to the waterfall Cascata do Caracol.

Nice town. Much better than Sao Paulo. And it's cleaner as well. No, it's a clean town with good air. The buffet restaurants are exelents, everybody needs to try it many more, who likes the beef meat and the fruits.

the worst part is the city airport connecting flight which is Lima Peru the worst most terrible airport in the world included the working personnel of the airport and the Avianca airline as well. in addition you can buy snitching to drink or eat because is a robbery. An example a little can of domestic beer they charge 7 dollars and a little pack of potato chips 5 dollars. if you can avoid Avianca airlines connecting in Lima Peru , do it , you will thanks me
The room is compact but this didn't affect the quality of our stay (we had a double bed for 1 couple + 4yo). The bathroom is of very good quality finishings. The bed was very comfortable and soft. The blackout curtains were great. As a window view, however, it is nothing special (we were overlooking a building site) but we were there just for a few days and we weren't looking for any special surroundings. It was a great hotel to stop by.
The staff were great and very accommodating. the rooms were great, lots of space, brand new and comfy beds. The bathrooms are nice and it was great to have actual Hot water. the breakfast was great with many options. loved the buffet lunch option too.
My husband and I wished we had stayed at this hotel the whole time we were in Porto Alegre.
We chose this hotel because we needed to catch a flight early the next day. The location was perfect. Close to the metro, some markets and restaurants. It was very simple, but adequate for packing up and a good night's rest. The staff let us use the breakfast space and electric kettle for our supper snack.
We stayed here for the marathon. I appreciated that the hotel started breakfast at 3AM on marathon morning, so that we were able to get breakfast before the race. There are lots of good restaurants in the area. Definitely get the yaki soba at the Japanese restaurant across the street.
This isn't the first time we've stayed at the Deville Porto Alegre, so our expectations were already high, based on our previous stays. Every aspect of the hotel was exceptional. My 10-year-old grandson said it all: "This hotel really knows how to hotel!" And he was right.
It is localised in a good neighborhood of Porto Alegre, called Cidade Baixa, surrounded by supermarkets, many bars, coffee shops and restaurants. The staff is very supportive, warm, and friendly. The hostel has a good vibe!
The room was quite spacious and clean. The cleaning team was gentle and very competent. Comfortable bed, good Wi-Fi and nice view. The hotel is pretty close to bars, restaurants and supermarkets.
Great value, excellent location, in a safe neighborhood. Close to pharmacy, restaurants and and a gallery with with boutiques and restaurants.
Within 20 minute proximity from Viracopos airport.
I liked everything in this hotel. The room and beds were fantastic. Restaurant and breakfast were to our satisfaction. Would definitely stay in the same hotel in a future opportunity.
The location is very good as it is by the river. so the views are amazing. Also, this is a brand new hotel so everything is new and hardly used. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Great apartments in a good location of Porto Alegre. It has a mini kitchenette which is convenient. and the pool is nice in summer. The staff is very polite. We had a great stay.
Near the airport. For just one night it was worth the money. Bed was comfortable, shower was amazing, breakfast was good. The hotel offers transfer to the airport.
