It was only a short ride to the Falls. There was a huge shopping mall nearby that was open over the Easter holidays, which gave us different food options as many restaurants around were closed. Breakfast options were good.

Pool - fair, clean, best for kids, but ok for adults as well. Breakfast - Ok, coffee itself not so good, everything else was nice. Room - Amazing space, some facilities didn't work but would recommend for a couple or traveling alone.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Brazil, Foz do Iguaçu is located on the Brazilian side of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Iguaçu Falls. Lying on the triple frontier between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, it also has the Parque das Aves (Birds Park), the Itaipú Dam, and access to cheap shopping in the Paraguayan tax-free city of Ciudad del Este.
The word Iguaçu derives from the native Guaraní language, meaning “big water.” The spectacular falls are part of the natural frontier between Argentina and Brazil, and include 275 individual falls spread over a mile in both countries, with a maximum height of 260 feet. Its water flow can be three times that of the Niagara.
Starting as a small village, Foz grew thanks to the flow of tourists, the construction of the bridges to Paraguay and Argentina, and the work on the Itaipú Dam and Hydroelectric Plant. Some of the best hotels in Foz do Iguaçu are located along the road to the national park. Nonetheless, most Foz do Iguaçu hotels are located in and around the central area.

We underestimated the time needed in Foz do Iguaçu.
We underestimated the time needed in Foz do Iguaçu. We extended our stay by 1 night from 2 nights to 3 (moving to wonderful Hotel Sanma because With Foz do Iguaçu had no room available), but should probably have added 2 nights instead of only 1.
Count 0.5 days for Itaipu, 1 day for Iguaçu-falls Brazilian side, 1 day for Iguazu falls Argentinian side, 0.5 days for the wonderful, very instructive Parque das Aves, and 0.5 days for a quick hike through the 3 towns Foz (Bra) Ciudad del Este (Par) and Puerto Iguazu (Arg).
Make sure you travel with autorized means of transportation from one country to the other.

Forget Victoria and Niagara, this is the only one you need to see! But make sure you see both sides as they are different. The Brazilian side is beautiful, the Argentinian side is awesomely dramatic. One day is sufficient if you start at opening time then transfer by taxi to Argentina and stay in a hotel there at the end.

Iguazu Falls - definitely worth visiting, but check tickets before you go as you might end up in a very long queue. Hotels offer to buy (not too big $$ difference). Birds park worth visiting as well as popping in to Argentina.

The Falls is a must see place to get a balanced impression of the magnificence of this natural wonder. Getting there is quite easy if you speak Portuguese/Spanish or are more adventurous, to take a local bus to and from the Falls and adjacent Bird Park - both excellent options with easy hiking trails. Uber and 99 are good options too or taxi - but be prepared for taxi drivers to drive up the price 400%.
There are a number of restaurants in the park where you can stop for a bite or to refresh. Toilets are adjacent to restaurants.
The trails are clearly marked and easy to navigate.

Foz do Iguaçu is a great city with lots of opportunities.
Foz do Iguaçu is a great city with lots of opportunities. Obviously the waterfalls is a must visit while staying in Foz. The transport there, you can take an Uber, but the Bus line 120 will take you the for just 5 reais. The Parque das Aves is also something I would recommend. For dining I would go to Bel Viale restaurant, great food to cheap prices!
I highly recommend this hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. We received caring personal service even down to a few small bottles of premium cachaca upon leaving after we mentioned an incident with our son. Truly outstanding breakfast. Access to the falls outside normal park opening hours was special as was the sunset. Excellent suite. Boat trip to the falls arranged by the hotel was seemless and we were even given ponchos and a towel and skipped thee queue. Given small drinks and ice cream whilst lazing round the pool.
This is a great little hostel for sleeping if enjoying the sights during the day. We just needed a place to crash for the night and this hostel met that need. It is only a short walk to the Parque das Aves, Hélisul (helicopter ride), and the Foz do Iguaçu entrance. Also, from the main road, you can catch an Uber or the local bus. The hostel staff is very friendly and will answer all your questions and help you plan your stay - they were fantastic and very helpful!
The breakfast included wide range of foods. The hostess also accommodated an early breakfast for us on one day, which was appreciated. We were in Foz do Iguacu during Carnavale, and so a lot of restaurants were closed, and taxis / uber rides took a while to arrive. The hostess had her son drive us to a shopping centre with a food hall, which was helpful. The bedroom was air-conditioned, and the bed was very comfortable.
The hotel is situated in the center of Foz do Iguacu with easy access to restaurants, shopping and the bus terminal which directly brings you to the waterfalls, dam, Paraguay or Argentina.
Our room was very spacious and clean. We liked the safe for security and the blowdryer in the bathroom.
The bed was comfortable. The shower was hot and had a nice pressure.
Our stay included breakfast, which was tasty and plentiful.
if you are ever in Foz do Iguacu and you would like a very friendly posada, you should consider Posada Rio das Aguas! We enjoyed staying at this inn very much! Our host Adriana treated us like family! Great breakfast every morning! Very comfortable bed! Pristine Swimming pool! And tons of good recommendations! If we ever go back to Foz, we will definitely stay at posada Rio again!
Very good breakfast, staff was amazing, accommodating small requests. Cleaning and overall organisation was just perfect. Hotel located in a very lively region of town, with the benefits and problems that it brings. Swimming pool and jacuzzi were very nice, with extra towels being provided at reception.b at conditioning in the room was just perfect (and essential in Foz do Iguaçu)
Traveling alone I booked a room at Hotel Colonial Iguaçu for 2 nights.
Great place! The best things are:
1. Walking distance from the Visitor Center Station of the Cataratas do Iguaçu park and the Parque das Aves
2. A desk that provide turistic information. I plan with the a trip to the Argentinian side of the Cataratas del Iguazú
3. Quite Nice restaurant
Super friendly staff. The big garden all around us was beautiful and the location near the falls was perfect. You can walk from the hotel to the entrance of Iguazu Falls. The hotel looked a bit older, but was well kept and very clean. I mean who can beat this price/quality ratio? If you want food, take an Uber into town or organize a taxi.
Amazing value for what I paid. Comfy bed, good hot shower, incredible location near everything you could possibly need. Breakfast buffet was basic, but still very good for this type of budget hotel. (I wouldn't usually eat so much cake for breakfast, but the cakes and coffee were great!) Staff were mostly friendly and helpful.
The hotel is beautiful. The entrance is stunning.
The swimming pool area and gym are wonderful and well organised. The staff is really helpful and friendly.
I had a couple of massages in the spa and again great service and staff.
Location for the falls and the bird park is perfect. Highly recommended.
Carolina at reception was wonderful. The concierge was always available. Our restaurant meal att Itiapu was phenomenal as was our waiter Gilman. The pool was a welcome respite from traveling. The hotel also provided us with a kit for the safari boat ride that came in handy
Hotels in the area are meant to be just a base of operations for Iguacu Falls. This one has a lot to offer on top:
- mini botanical garden
- indoor / outdoor pool + bar + recreation area
- very reasonable tourist office
The pools are very good, the hotel has a travel service which can be used to schedule trips. The hotel offers transportation from the airport to the hotel (only) and it has to be scheduled in advance.
hotel is in town centre but easy to find with secure parking. Bedrooms were all fine with aircon. Swimming pool was lovely.
Plenty of options for breakfast but bring English teabags with you.
The restaurant was good. The location was great- very close to the Brazil side of the falls. Transport to and from the airport was very convenient and provided by the hotel.
The best hotel I stayed in South America during 6 monts travel. The best. It's really a paradise. Clean, quiet, everything is new. See photos they speak for themselves.
