The city is a little decadent but it has its charm and a lot of culture, beautiful sites and buildings. There are good places to go for food and traditional activities such as capoeira. Its worth it going to a Candonble Terrain to get on touch with spirituality. Unfortunately the “government” is constructing a on new port that is going to destroy the beautiful nature around to export soy and minerals to the first world countries.

We were a bit skeptical about the location because we wanted to stay in the centre of Ilheus. But turned out to be a great location, close to the night life of bars and restaurants. It might look a little dodgy in the beginning but we felt safe walking around, even at night. The beach nearby "praia da Concha" was a great option for a swim close by. I don't think we would find that, staying in Ilhéus centre.

The restaurant is not great. The door stays opens and you eat the fumes from the cars that pass by. It's also really old and dated. The food is good although overpriced for what it is.
