It is a beautiful quaint town with good restaurants, beautiful churches and other points of interest. However, walking was a challenge as it is hilly with cobblestone or rock streets. With tennis shoes, or good walking shoes it is no problem. the people were very friendly and helpful.
We ate one night at Bene de Flat--excellent and the second night at the gastropub.very good and they played great music from the 70's.

Ouro Preto is a city of great historical value.
Ouro Preto is a city of great historical value. I've learned a lot about Brazil's history by a city tour in a "Jardineira". We walked around without any problem. The people are very friendly and good talking. Favorite spot is the "Museu da Inconfidencia" and "Igreja Nossa Senhora do Pillar", the first one built there and covered with gold interior. We visited also a deactivated mine with guidance, the guides explain a lot of the processes for mining gold at XVIII century there. Fun fact: a lot of brasilian slangs have the origin at there and at that time.

It is a very lovely old town with history and it is small. There are a lot of churches to see. The town is on up and down hill and it takes a lot energy to walk in town. It is easy to go to Mariana by local bus, it takes about 20-30 minutes. There are many cars in the town, you should be aware when across the road.

Highly recommend.
Highly recommend. Relaxing, quaint, and full of interesting history. We stayed for 3 days, which was enough time to explore the city in a leisurely way, trying several restaurants, visiting multiple museums and churches, and touring 2 mines -- all without feeling rushed. The city is picturesque, the people are kind, the history is interesting (and sometimes disturbing), and the food is fantastic.
The only caveat: if you have mobility issues (i.e., hip or knee issues, balance problems, etc.), Ouro Preto would be a very challenging destination for you. The streets are STEEP, and mostly uneven or slick cobblestone. One can minimize walking by taking a jeep tour around to some of the key destinations, but it would be difficult to really explore the city without being on foot much of the time. We walked up and down the hills all day, and even as a fairly healthy, fit person, I slipped around a bit on the stones and my knees were a little sore by the end.

Ouro Preto is a historic Village which carries a lot of Brazillian History because of the gold mining, actually is a touristic village with a lot of restaurants, museums and stores in historic buildings in tight streets. Beautiful place to visit.
Ideal location, beautiful aesthetics and superb attention from hosts make this a PERFECT Ouro Preto experience. breakfast is wonderful and set us up each day for our activities. Fabricio and Rómulo provided great guidance on what to see, do and eat while in OP. plus they are just so nice (with excellent English - that is a great bonus in Brazil!). this is a wonderful boutique property and experience - book now! you’ll love the good breakfast - fresh and varied. we really appreciated being able to book laundry service too.
Everything. Best breakfast i've ever had at a hostel, and almost the best I've ever had in any hotel. Clei and Fernando are the owners and they're absolutely delightful people that make everything extremely clear to you upon check-in. They live two doors down and are always available when needed. By the time I left, I felt like family.
The beds have coverings and outlets and even little lights. So far beyond any hostel I've seen in Brazil. There are lockers in the dorm rooms.
The best value for money I've ever seen in relation to a hotel. It is a large Stylish Hotel that was bought by SESC. the daily rate is very good in relation to the structure offered. It is possible to have lunch and dinner at the hotel paying per kilo. Very good. The hotel also offers free transfers to the city center, a children's entertainer and a walk.
General speaking, the Hotel was fine, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I could park my car into the hotel, and the Hotel was only a few meters far from the main points in the City, The room I got had good space and the bed was very comfy.
A beautiful hotel with great service throughout the stay, incl. valet parking.
Excellent Breakfeast. Really good restaurant for dinner as well.
The wife tried the newly started Spa service and enjoyed it alot.
Worth a stay for sure.
Great location, right at the centre of Ouro Preto and close to many tourist attractions and restaurants. Parking available at no extra costs. View to the historic town. Apartment was large (JK apartment - 01) and clean. Friendly staff.
This is a outstanding pousada in the heart of a historical and beautiful town of Tiradentes, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The owner Helena has a delicate touch and the entire place is furnished with natural materials and antiques
Breakfast was wonderful and the staff was super sweet. The rooms were clean and very nice, comfortable bed. The location of this hotel is perfect, in the middle of everything and easy excess to everything.
We were surprised by the Trilhas de Minas Hostel, it is better than we expected. Amazing view, a pool with terrace, the rooms were comfortable! Add a very varied breakfast and you have a winner.
Beautiful little hotel with a romantic jungle atmosphere hidden in the center of the city. Hot shower, awesome breakfast, cute little rooms & little monkeys jumping around. We loved it!
Really clean, friendly staff, good breakfast, very fast WiFi for Brazil hotel standards, good location and nice room with a great view. Can't fault the place.
Great location with great views over Ouro Preto, beautiful colonial setting, very friendly staff and a great breakfast buffet made for a very pleasant stay
Fantastic hotel with a lot of attractions like pools, gold mines.
Very nice rooms, clean. Personal very helpful at all times. Highly recommend this place
This was my second stay at Trilhas de Minas, and it was just as pleasant as the first. I would recommend this hostel to anyone traveling to Ouro Preto.
