How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Unfortunately the hotel didn’t have my booking when we arrived they said that they have had a lot of problems with booking.com and nor receiving the bookings through. Although the staff upgraded us for free.
The property is in an excellent location and the room we had was excellent

Some missing amenity like tissue box and hairdryer.
The jubilee suite is spacious and clean. Friendly staff. Lots of green area around for dog walking.

Room was too hot and could only open window so far. Bar had no lager on tap. Hook to hang coats up was in a silly place. Hang your coat up…….open the bathroom door and knock it off peg. Loads of room else where to put coat pegs.
Staff were good. Breakfast was really nice and a large selection. Room clean and tidy and stocked well.

Due to it being weekend, the Spokes cafe is not open throughout the day and as it is fairly remote, it could be an issue if you wanted lunchtime food. A small gripe was the inconsistency of taxi prices into town. We were there to go to the Take That concert at the Nottingham forest football ground. As part of a group we had separate taxis there. One cost £11 and the other £14 for the exact same journey. The Uber ride back at 11pm was double the cost at £24 due to high demand at that time. I guess later on like all City taxis, they can charge what they like, but do be aware!
It was set in beautiful grounds with an outside sitting area and lake. Although slightly unusual layout for a hotel (due to it being a conference based hotel) it had a pleasant reception area that doubled up as a bar in the evening. The rooms were huge, well equipped and very clean. The staff were very helpful. There is a pub called The Rose and Crown within 5 minutes walk that serves excellent food and very welcoming staff. Parking is free which is a bonus and about a 15 minute ride into the centre by taxi which are easily attainable. Breakfast was served in the Spokes cafe and was excellent value.

The breakfast wasn’t great. The orange juice must have been watered down or off. A staff member also tried to say it was ok! There was also problems for other guests that I could see. All in all, not great, even if it was only £11.95.
24 hour reception with friendly staff was great. The room was basic but had everything you would want, including a large tv!

One member of staff was a bit rude towards a comment I said and it’s all cost. I couldn’t remember the door number of my hotel room all the others was friendly.
We booked to have a breakfast in the hotel, which was absolutely lovely. There was a lot to choose from when we got there enjoyed the meal. When we arrive, we was met by a member of staff and I couldn’t remember our room number so I told him my name he gave us a funny remark to my name told me they could be many people with the same name there and never told us where to go and what to do it apart from that Other members of staff was warm and friendly and everything was perfect

How no one checked or informed residents that fire alarm was false after going off at 4am..would have been nice for member off staff to walk corridors and tell residents...very poor...

There was a spider on my bed.

It was a little noisy outside (probably students enjoying themselves) so we shut the window about midnight, then got to sleep straight away. I imagine depending on your room (say if you overlooked the lake) you may not hear a thing!
Good location, nice clean and comfortable room with great size tv. Good facilities at hotel - bar serving food and vending machines for hot and cold drinks and snacks. Lovely friendly staff. Nice lake at the rear to enjoy a drink or food.
