Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe wait for the elevators could get a bit ridiculous especially from the 1st floor where breakfast was served, as well as during checkout time. There are only two elevators and often both of them would be going in the same direction and your floor would get ignored. I was on the 8th floor, so climbing the stairs was a bit of a challenge. Another small annoyance is the same as with all A&O hostels, the sheets they give you can be a challenge to get on and off the bed, especially if you're in the top bunks. They're a bit tight so you have to lift the mattress a bit of get them on. This can get very loud especially if you're trying to do it at night, or if your bunk mate is leaving early in the morning and their sheet slips, launching the mattress imto the metal frame and making noise.
Like every A&O location the staff were incredibly friendly amd helpful. I got in early and completed most of the check in process and only needed to pick up my room card later that night when I came back. I came in very late to pick up my key (almost midnight) and the staff helped without any problem. I stored my luggage with no charge while i was away both on arrival and when departing. The room was clean and the plugs by the beds had both a standard wall plug and two USB pligs, so there were plenty of charging options. There are lockers under the beds, but no locks. I've never had a problem with anyone messing with my things though, just don't leave anything super valuable. The breakfast option was the same as with any A&O property, an all you can eat buffet for 9.50 euros.

GreeceExpensive private parking. Dusch should be renewed, it has a bit of mold and metal parts should be replaced.
Location is good, market is close, pizza, pasta, bus station. Clean hotel end rooms, large, comfy bed (yes, it is not soft that's why it is good), clean toilet.

CanadaWe are used with having Iron and Coffee maker in the room. This was missing. But, it was easier to borrow those items from the desk. Worked out well.
We had four suitcases to carry from train station to the hotel. The hotel location was great as we didn't have to have taxi to get to hotel. After checkout luggage storage arrangements were also nice and a good place to wait for the next destination train.

AustraliaIt was a bit noisy outside the building and the aircon didn't work. They said that it was the council that wouldn't allow them to turn on the air con because of the time of the year.
The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable. It was ok for the money that we paid.

ItalyThe price for double room is rather on the expensive side, though I know that for the shared room it's a very good deal if you don't plan to stay for a long time.
For someone who intends to visit Venezia, this hostel is perfectly positioned. Shops and supermarket are just around the corner. It's also very close to the train station of Mestre but without having the crowd and the noise. I like very much the common space, both the bar and the chill out lounge. It's clean and quite new. We took a double room, and I find it clean and the size is good. It also has a garage where we parked our car safely. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

United KingdomIt’s a very busy place and our room was next to a group of people that really did slam their doors til late at night, so take some earplugs if this would bother you. Also, the restaurant had NOTHING vegetarian… not even chips, as they had sold out. We ended up buying some crisps and yoghurt drinks for the evening from a local shop.
The property exceeded my expectations. The staff were just lovely, really helpful and kind. The room itself was clean (apart from some splashes behind the bin) They provided towels and bedsheets too! The room was comfortable and quite big. Water was hot for a nice shower. It’s 5 mins walk to bus and trains to Venice so very convenient for day trips.

United KingdomHow it was on a main road the traffic sound volume was too much, especially when they wouldn’t and didn’t turn the air conditioning on so you had to open your window or you’d just be in a sweat box! Spoke to staff about the air condition and said they normally turn it on at the start of May and the reply was “we just haven’t yet”
The price, it’s was a little cheaper than others but because it was in Venice itself.

SwitzerlandThe elevator is slow and the other one brokedown during our stay.
The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was average. They seem to be understaff but they are all very helpful. We had to put the sheets on the bunkbeds ourselves (not a big deal but it’s our first time in a hostel so that’s how it is probably done here). I appreciate that our garbage bins were cleaned daily.
