Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyOur second time here. We enjoyed it equally, thanks to the amazing staff. It was like coming home. We did like the room during our first stay better, but this one was still good. The pool, drinks and other facilities are great. I would come again. We even got recommendations for the next country on our travel, and I wish I could have sent some pineapple cakes back to Chirin Home as a thanks!

BelgiumFor the money there’s really nothing worth saying, excellent value !!!
Cute hotel, large rooms, comfortable beds, pleasant swimming pool, 10 min far from the center by bicycle (available for free and excellent quality), very kind and helpful staff (they even went to the post to send me back a suit I had forgotten), daily cleaning, bar.

It’s a lovely little Japanese inspired house and a very cool pool. There’s somewhere to chill out downstairs but rooms were spacious enough to hang out in too.

AustriaIt smelled a bit of weed near the pool. Especially in the evening. The breakfast patries were not the best but Coffee was excellent
Great hotel with really comfortable beds. The room was clean and agreable and the pool area was nice as well. There is a nice atmosphere in the lobby with acoustic music playing and table near the pool to relax. The pool was refreshing and clean. Bike were available for free so it was easy to go in the city center.

Amazing accommodation. Staff were very friendly and supportive with everything. Rooms were spacious, pool area was relaxing, and the coffee/beer available was well priced (so we're the pastries, but didn't have any). Free bicycle hire (or cheap Grab) to centre, so location doesn't matter. Supermarket, 7/11, restaurants nearby. Would definitely stay here again if in Chiang Mai.

GermanyOur stay there was great. So great in fact that we came back and stayed there a second time. The front desk ladies are so helpful and friendly and absolutely great. They were full of information, had restaurant recommendations, and were always up for a chat. They made us feel very welcome. The room was spacious, and we had our own balcony. You can do laundry there for very little money and they have a pool to cool you off during the hot and humid days. It's within walking distance from the walled city but not right in the centre. You can rent scooters with them and they offer free bicycles for you to explore Pai. We already plan on coming back a third time. Thank you for all the great advice and help.

MyanmarJust curtains are not think enough so outside lights can come in but nothing major.
Location is so convenient to the centre. It's quiet and spacious. We are a family of 3 living in a family room, which technically is two rooms merged into one so room is massive. Like massive with two bathrooms with dry kitchen provided (like microwave and plates) convenient for us as we go on tour all day and just ordered Grab deliveries. And warm them up.

CanadaThe location is tucked away down a small street, which means it is away from the busy city centre and it is still easy to walk to the night market across the river, just as a solo female traveller I found myself using grab a lot. Also thin walls, I could hear neighbours conversations through the walls to my room.
Staff were super friendly and helpful with last minute requests/changes to the booking. Some of the best pillows I've had on my trip so far and a comfy bed. Overall, really lovely spot.

United StatesMy only minor grievance was that there was no way to latch the bathroom door from the outside, so the a/c struggled to keep up with the warm air seeping in. An extra latch would save some energy.
This place was fabulous for the price! Very clean and well-kept. The pool was actually cool and refreshing. I couldn’t believe I wasn’t splurging out of my price range. Unlimited glass water bottles were wonderful. And a mini fridge in the room to put them in! Will definitely stay here again if I am ever back in Chiang Mai.

New ZealandNot much. Very pleasant stay with everything we needed. Got used to very firm Thai beds, by the end of our trip/stay in Thailand.
Lovely staff at reception who were approachable and helpful. Clean, comfortable room and pleasant surrounds to come back to at end of the day. Away from hustle and bustle of the main drag but an easy walk to the many night markets. Bar and barista coffee on site was an added convenience.

CanadaA beautiful big kitchenette kitchenette but not well equipped. It didn’t have any plates or cutlery.
I had the superior room for 5 nights and it was fabulous!! It had a sitting area, sofa and two chairs. A kitchenette, a vanity in the walk in closet, a small balcony as well as a large wardrobe. The bed was quite comfortable. It was like a studio apartment. Well worth a couple of extra dollars. The staff were so lovely and helpful. Close to a 7 11 and within walking distance to a massive night market! A lovely little pool and bar. Many guests spent a leisurely afternoon sitting at the bistro tables reading and chatting.
