Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was all lovely.
We were only staying the one night in Izmir and we were so delighted with this hotel! They very kindly upgraded our room, which was wonderful. The location was perfect and the evening meal and entertainment were excellent. We would definitely recommend anyone to stay there.

This was pure serendipity. The location was perfect - one stepped out directly into the bustling bazaar. It is close to the Agora, Konak Square and 16 minutes from the regional station for the trip to Selcuk (Ephesus). The room was well appointed and serviced daily - clean towels. Breakfasts were remarkable. With something to satisfy all. The restaurant in the quad is bustling with live music in the afternoons and evenings. The staff are extremely pleasant and most helpful.

NetherlandsThe only window in the room was looking to the corridor/entrance (which was a busy spot), which meant we had to have the curtains closed all the time, so the room was always very dark. If I knew before booking, I would've asked for a different room
Great location, polite and helpful staff, good breakfast, nice decor in the room, comfy pillow/mattresses

New ZealandThe ‘garden’ was really an indoor area, quite noisy as close to all the rooms.
Good location in the old town, nice rooms. Very lively at night with live music so keep this in mind if you like peace and quiet. We missed breakfast due to an early departure on the last day so the staff made us a packed lunch!

Excellent location in the middle of the bazaar, although a little difficult to find. Live music in the courtyard, hotel rooms have their own balcony on the first floor, outside their rooms. Very good breakfast. Staff were excellent!!

AustraliaNothing at all!
The location near the Ancient Agora site in Izmir (making a visit easy) was the reason we chose the hotel. It is a gem! The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The Wi-Fi was strong. The included breakfast range was comprehensive and tasty. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The on-site restaurant had a comprehensive menu and the dinner we had was tasty. The evening live entertainment in the restaurant was a bonus.

ColombiaEverything was perfect at my stay
The Hotel L´Agora in Izmir exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, ensuring my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities I needed. The hotel's location is perfect, with easy access to the city's attractions and public transportation. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious options, catering to all dietary preferences. Overall, I highly recommend the Hotel Agora to anyone visiting Izmir.

RussiaPlease note that the hotel is located in the center of a pedestrian area, so it is impossible to drive directly to the hotel by car. This needs to be taken into account. However, the employee helped us carry our luggage to the taxi (we had to walk for about 5 minutes).
The hotel is in the very center of the big bazaar - but of very good quality, in good style, recently renovated. In the center of the hotel there is a large courtyard with a good restaurant. There is live music in the evenings. A great way to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of an oriental bazaar at its best.

ColombiaLocation: it’s right in the middle of the market and the atmosphere is completely different to inside the hotel. At night it can be scary even though nothing will happen, it’s just that is dark and everything is closed.

AustraliaThe staff are incredibly helpful. They have local awareness and provide a very safe, spotlessly clean hotel with great food, drinks and coffees. The atmosphere is lively with evening live music with diners enjoying the music at times singing along and getting involved. It’s a very local feel. Safety paramount and no threat at any time.

Saudi ArabiaNothing I suppose. Guests need to be aware that there is a full fledged restaurant with live music and crowds from outside. They are however very careful to stop the sounds from 22:00 onward.
It is a beautiful boutique hotel with the most wonderful interiors. The beds and room were excellent barring some fixtures that were quite old. The staff is very friendly and give you multiple options for things to do. Mind you it's warm in the afternoons but the evenings are simply perfect ( I was there mid April). Location is the best once you figure out the maze that is the Kemeralti market. Please explore as there are gems at much more reasonable prices than Istanbul. Probably half the price! Breakfast was excellent. The Turkish breakfast buffet had such a variety everyday!

Sri LankaAccess to the property is by foot through the bazar. It's not a negative point, but something to be noted, as vehicles can only come to a certain drop off point which is about 300m away from the property.
The location is amazing. it's in the middle of the bazar and old town. It's a short walk to all the key places in Izmir. Turker, who worked at the reception was very helpful in booking excursions for us, and answering any questions we had regarding things to do around the area.

Germanyloved the location in the middle of the agora…you may have to walk a block to get there pending on the time of your arrival. if you want a daytime quiet place bring ear plugs…the inner courtyard is quiet at night and in the morning, but lunch time it becomes a meeting place for bazaar visitors! fun but a bit noisy…
