The manager came to see us once if not twice a day to ask how we were enjoying our stay and what we had done with our day, jts a busy hotel and he did it to everyone which really shows how much they care about your experience.

With arguably the most impressive Roman heritage outside Rome, Nîmes is truly a sight to behold. Its most awe-inspiring structure is the virtually intact Roman amphitheatre. The gladiators are long gone, but a matador statue outside gives an idea of its current use, which is most celebrated during the annual Feria.
Another amazing Roman monument is the Maison Carrée, a colonnaded temple. The Temple of Diana is less well preserved, but still maintains some of its arched roof and interior details. The peaceful, surrounding Fontaine Gardens cover the grounds of the former Roman baths and still contain elegant water features.
Also water-related is the incredible Pont du Gard, a triple-arched Roman aqueduct across a river north-east of Nîmes. Other Roman remains include the Tour Magne, and 2 gates that allowed access through the city walls.
The Nîmes Archaeological Museum in the former Jesuit college provides background to this history and also houses the Warrior of Grezan, a pre-Roman statue. Another museum houses a fine art collection, and the simple cathedral is also worth visiting.
In addition to plenty of restaurants and bars, Nîmes has a good range of accommodation. Booking.com’s options include luxury hotels by Parc Expo Nimes, and cheap apartments near the train station, all easily accessible from Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes Airport.

So many historical attractions to visit, all within easy walking distance from the Royal Hotel. Public Transport was plentiful as was the bars, restaurants and cafés. Favourite place we visited was the Arena, we also enjoyed a visit to the Roman Aqueduct, a 30 minute drive away. Everything else, we walked to. A really good variety of restaurants serving very reasonably priced meals, plus our hotel had a restaurant. Nowhere to avoid in our opinion, everyone we met was happy, helpful and kind. We would happily visit Nimes again in the future and recommend the city.

Full of Roman history, monuments in Nimes are within a walkable distance. Worth buying the Discovery pass which gets you into the amphitheatre, Roman museum, Maisonette Carree and Tour Magne. The pass can be bought from whichever site you first visit.
Also visit the Jardins de la Fontaine. The park is extensive and very impressive and you can see the natural spring that used to be the water source. We found the Castellum where the Romans brought the water supply into Nimes via the Point du Gard. From a central chamber the water was fed out to areas in Nimes through lead pipes. It's amazing to still see where the outlets for the pipes were.
From the bus station in Nimes we went on bus number 121 to Pont du Gard. This is one trip that's a must!! We got off at Vers Pont du Gard. The bus stop names are well displayed on the bus well in advance of the stop. From there was about a 10 minute walk to the visitor centre and another 10 to the aqueduct. There is a cinema and museum in the visitor centre. The museum was quite interesting but the film in the cinema seemed a bit pointless.
We also took the 130 bus to Arles. We bought a Liberty pass that got us into 4 monuments and 1 museum. We did the amphitheatre and the theatre, where we sat with our picnic lunch. The cryptoportiques, where you get to wander in the underground cellars, was more extensive than we had thought it would be. We decided on the Alyscamps for our 4th monument visit. Tombs of Roman and Christians lined the avenue leading out of Arles. Would have liked some more information on what some of the inscriptions could have been.
In Nimes visit Les Halles. This indoor food market has a superb display of produce and even if you are not buying, is well worth the visit.

Nimes is great for a few days; enough museums and Roman history to keep anyone amused for a couple of days (including children) - the town itself is relatively small but has good connections by bus and train to other areas worth exploring. The Tourist Information will provide advice on how to get there.
A combined ticket for the Roman remains and the museum is great value - especially if you engage with the audio guides.

A very clean well presented city , easy to walk around when in the old quarters. Good for shopping , eating and historical places . We visited Le Maison Carree . The arena , the Jardins de la Fontaine. On a triple combined ticket purchased on line . A very pleasant stay
The location of the hotel is right behind the main station in Nîmes so it was perfect. Nîmes Town centre is quite small so you can walk pretty much everywhere. Breakfast was good with cold meats, bread, toast, croissants, fruit, pancakes, and a fresh orange juice machine. The pictures of the rooms on the TripAdvisor site are exactly the same in reality so no surprises :) Overall you know what you are getting with ibis hotels and I have never been disappointed.
I am a repeat guest at this hotel and highly recommend staying here when visiting Nimes whether for work or pleasure. The hotel is immaculate and all staff are professional, courteous and extremely helpful. On this visit we arrived early and at first there was no room available but the head of reception went out of his way to have a room cleaned for us within less than an hour. We visit Nimes frequently and always stay here.
Absolute paradise, such a beautiful place. The hosts Philippe and Luce are amazing and make sure your stay is comfortable and relaxing. Luce is also an amazing cook (we had a meal cooked by her one night which was delicious!). The breakfast every morning is a true highlight (the best we had during our stay in France). The pool is just perfect and has stunning views across the gardens. We would definitely stay here again :).
Very friendly and helpful staff; we had many chats with them where they provided a lot of useful information about Nimes and the region. We liked the breakfast (e.g. bread and croisssants from neighborhood bakeries). The room was nice, especially the comfortable armchair. Location was also good, close to old town and walking distance to the main station. We will definitely stay there on our next trip to Nimes.
Entire hotel is a recent renovation of an historic villa/chateau in the center of historic Nîmes. The place is beautifully done, from top to bottom. Our room had a lovely terrace and was nearly silent at night. The bathroom was outstandingly appointed. The staff seems interested in earning an excellent reputation for the hotel and they all go above and beyond for their guests.
A lovely old building in a great location. Two flights of stone steps so may be difficult if you have limited mobility. Accommodation spotless and within walking distance of restaurants, bars and all major attractions. Our contact was very accessible on WhatsApp and replied almost immediately. A really enjoyable stay in Nimes
While a basic hotel, our room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. It was located across from the railway station and offered convenient, reasonably priced car parking. Nimes Arena was about a 15 minute walk, with other attractions further away. Breakfast was good, and the staff were always helpful.
Central location and very comfortable and spacious with everything we could need or want. The owners are exceptional, wonderful and attentive to our needs. Had a garage available for the car, which was wonderful since everything to see in Nimes is walkable from this location. A perfect and magical stay.
The room was lovely, with a lovely wonderful atmosphere. The hotel was visually stunning both inside and out.
Also the staff member that booked us in was just so very kind and informative particularly with her english language skill as our French is a little lacking.
Very nicely refurbished and comfortable Hotel within walking distance of everything. 24hr Secure Public Car Parking along with Restaurant, Bars and a great Supermarket all close by. Very pleasant staff contributed to a memorable visit to Nimes.
Very cute hotel in a great location for walking in to Nimes. The pool area was completely empty so we enjoyed a couple of afternoons in the sun. The staff were wonderful, friendly and attentive. The bed was comfy and the room a good size.
Location, easy walking to the main sights. The Arena is 5-10 minutes' walk.
Friendly helpful staff.
Secure underground car parking at the hotel, with a reduced rate.
Restaurant cocktail bar in the hotel. Relaxed outdoor eating.
Great room in a great hotel on a great location in a great city. We really really enjoyed our stay in Nîmes and in L’Imperator. Great beds, great bathroom, great staff. We loved it and will be back!!
The house was spotlessly clean, stylishly furnished and had everything we needed. Our hosts were friendly, kind and helpful. Nimes is a beautiful city to walk around; lots of culture to soak up.
We made an overnight stop whilst on a long road journey through France.
It was close to the autoroute so ideal for this purpose. We ate in the on-site restaurant which was really good actually
Staff was very polite.
The outside of the hotel is very charming.
Easy free parking.
They accept pets, which is great.
We didn't use a restaurant so have no opinion in that matter.
Hotel was nice and clean. Big bar/rest. The pool was clean. The room was also clean and comfortable. It’s located near a big shopping area. Safe parking.
The hotel is in a great location if you are needing to be close to the train station. And it's only a short walk to the arena and other attractions in Nimes.
Beautiful boutique hotel in a great position in Nimes. Lovely staff. Everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Great position for exploring the city.
