Sete is a bit Venice but without the tourists. It is full of locals and local life, with fishing boats, some tour boats, yachts and even car ferries. The fantastic indoor market and restaurants specialise in seafood, particularly oysters - very reasonably priced.
There are lovely walks up to Mont St-Clair, with its amazing views, or out to the lagoon or west along the miles of wide sandy beaches.
There is a lot of handsome architecture in Sete and a lovely park.

The town is so walkable, yet there is still so much to see.
The town is so walkable, yet there is still so much to see. So many different little areas and so charming. I never stopped eating as there is so much food to try. The Halles market is amazing! It has a very authentic feel, laid back...you feel like a local!

We ate in Sete twice, but were twice disappointed.
The town of Sete was dirty and crowded.
It was difficult to park in Sete, and difficult to drive around at the time we went (July) as it was very busy on the roads.
I would not visit Sete again.

I liked Sete.
I liked Sete. It was a good place to finish my bike ride from St Malo. However, it was also a bit too big and busy so a day less would have been good. Lots of restaurants, bars and places to just hang out and watch the world go by. A good train service to Montpellier.

The Port Marine a new hotel situated just 5 minutes from the centre in the port. The staff here are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are fresh and comfortable. There is a bus stop just by the hotel to catch the train to the TGV station. With very regular schedules. Also to walk to the beaches it is around 25 minutes. We found that Sete was a beautiful spot with the eccentric jousting contest. Many restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel by the port.
Excellent location within striking distance of all that Sète has to offer. Extremely pleasant and helpful contact with Emilie to organise everything regarding accessing the property with some really useful bonus information on places to go, things to do etc.
The flat is light, spacious and, on the whole, a very pleasant environment. The view from the terrace is splendid.
Though compact, the hotel tries to offer everything a traveller’s might need. The room was small but well designed and comfortable. We were only there for the night only and were sorry to leave because the beach was so inviting. There is a restaurant and bar facing the beach where we had dinner.
The studio has a great location. It also has a very comfy bed and a spacious wardrobe. Both of these are not common in this category and I absolutely enjoyed sleeping in a comfy bed compared to the sofa beds. If I come back to Sete (without a car) I would stay here again.
The property was well located for the beach - just a few mins walk, and the town was about 15/20 minutes walking along the beach/coastal road. The staff were helpful for local area advice and also for onward travel suggestions. The hotel was clean and well maintained.
Excellent location near the canals. The staff were friendly, professional and extremely helpful. There is a bar/café in the hotel which is unusual in France. In 35oC heat room was very comfortable with excellent air conditioning. Fridge in the room was a bonus.
All staff was extremly friendly. They even let us store an antique sofa for some hours which we bought in a antic/flea market nearby the hotel. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Breakfeast was available in all varieties until last minutes
Great bar on the roof
Quite spacious room with some basic cooking amenities and walking distance to the town's principal beaches. Nearby L’Essentiel beach-fronting restaurant is a treat. If you come with a family you may find the hotel's large pool handy.
The total package (host, room and location) made for a wonderful stay in Sète. I would highly recommend La Maison Verte and plan on staying there again next time I’m in Sète.
Fantastic position, on the canal, very bright open space very well furnished and decorated.
Very well equipped kitchen.
Easy to walk to all the amenities in Sète.
The hotel lobby is beautiful. A lot of art around. When we got in to our room , it was warm but the AC kicked in right away and got it cool. The bathroom is modern.
The hotel was very comfortable and in a good location close to the gare and the main canal. The room was cosy and comfortable and breakfast was included.
