Safe and good location. Homely atmosphere. Ronaldo, the manager, and the owner took care of all our needs for local travels. He arranged a taxi with a fantastic driver - Fernando who also made sure we visited all the beautiful places in the city. Very good breakfast and decent room to stay. Ideal for non-Portuguese speakers - Ronaldo and Fernando went out of their way to communicate with us using translators apps and never made us feel out of place. Would love to visit again.

It is a beautiful quaint town with good restaurants, beautiful churches and other points of interest. However, walking was a challenge as it is hilly with cobblestone or rock streets. With tennis shoes, or good walking shoes it is no problem. the people were very friendly and helpful.
We ate one night at Bene de Flat--excellent and the second night at the gastropub.very good and they played great music from the 70's.

Ouro Preto is a city of great historical value.
Ouro Preto is a city of great historical value. I've learned a lot about Brazil's history by a city tour in a "Jardineira". We walked around without any problem. The people are very friendly and good talking. Favorite spot is the "Museu da Inconfidencia" and "Igreja Nossa Senhora do Pillar", the first one built there and covered with gold interior. We visited also a deactivated mine with guidance, the guides explain a lot of the processes for mining gold at XVIII century there. Fun fact: a lot of brasilian slangs have the origin at there and at that time.

It is a very lovely old town with history and it is small. There are a lot of churches to see. The town is on up and down hill and it takes a lot energy to walk in town. It is easy to go to Mariana by local bus, it takes about 20-30 minutes. There are many cars in the town, you should be aware when across the road.

Highly recommend.
Highly recommend. Relaxing, quaint, and full of interesting history. We stayed for 3 days, which was enough time to explore the city in a leisurely way, trying several restaurants, visiting multiple museums and churches, and touring 2 mines -- all without feeling rushed. The city is picturesque, the people are kind, the history is interesting (and sometimes disturbing), and the food is fantastic.
The only caveat: if you have mobility issues (i.e., hip or knee issues, balance problems, etc.), Ouro Preto would be a very challenging destination for you. The streets are STEEP, and mostly uneven or slick cobblestone. One can minimize walking by taking a jeep tour around to some of the key destinations, but it would be difficult to really explore the city without being on foot much of the time. We walked up and down the hills all day, and even as a fairly healthy, fit person, I slipped around a bit on the stones and my knees were a little sore by the end.

Ouro Preto is a historic Village which carries a lot of Brazillian History because of the gold mining, actually is a touristic village with a lot of restaurants, museums and stores in historic buildings in tight streets. Beautiful place to visit.
I really can't imagine staying anywhere else in Ouro Preto. The pousada is lovely, complete with colonial vibe, and the service professional and attentive. I really appreciated the van service to take people to and from the center of town (so you could leave your car parked at the pousada). I also liked that you got to choose what you wanted for breakfast and where it would be served. With good weather, the outside patio was a lovely spot for it! Will definitely stay here again.
A lovely place in the heart of Ouro Preto! This is a hostel with a number of private rooms. Very well managed and a great place to meet like-minded travelers. My room was very comfortable with a spectacular view outside my window. Breakfast was excellent! Hosts were very kind! Wifi was very good. And in hilly, spread-out Ouro Preto, the location is as good as it gets, just a 5-minute walk to Tiradentes Plaza! I highly recommend this place!
The property is really cute! We loved the place, the staffs are amazing, very friendly and kind! It’s definitely the best place I’ve stayed in Ouro Preto. I’ll be back some day. Also, the bed is really big, you can use the kitchen like it’s yours and they have a huge diversity of teas that you can have tea any time you want! And I can’t forget to say that the breakfast is delicious.
The Pousada Chico Anjo exceed our expectations in every way. The structure is very cozy and welcoming, the staff gave us so much attention, and the location could not be better! Very calm and relaxing place. The breakfast was literally a feast, delicious and very local. Amazing stay! Next time in Ouro Preto, we will definitely stay at Pousada Chico Anjo again.
Breakfast was great.
Bed was VERY comfortable and warm
We arrived very early in the morning from a night bus and they let us check in early (the room was already ready)
We could leave all our luggage with the hotel on the day of check out
50 metres from the bus terminal
5 minutes walk into the centre
The staff were excellent. They really made us welcome and a couple of them spoke some English. The location is very convenient for a short walk (uphill) into town. It was also great that the hotel had a parking lot. The breakfast was very adequate with lots of choice.
Comfortable rooms, but particularly the breakfast was a positive surprise. They had many options of cake, bread, fruit juices and protein. When we booked we didn't know the hotel had a jacuzzi, swimming pool and sauna which was also a positive surprise.
The view is amazing! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful (suggested sites to visit).
The room is kept clean and the breakfast is yummy.
I felt like home away from home and that's exactly the feeling I wished for Ouro Preto!
This was the second time we have stayed at the Pousada, and we enjoyed both stays. Nice rooms with beautiful views of the Ouro Preto. Good breakfast. Very helpful staff. Convenient to all attractions, restaurants and shops.
I love the pool (although it isn’t warm, it is clean and big), breakfast was delicious, the staff is very friendly and the location is perfect. We love the view from the restaurant. The hotel is cozy and clean.
Eat original cakes, cheeses and different natural juices was a great experience to start the day near of the main square of Ouro Preto. Thank you Hotel Pousada Casa Grande i had great times with you, twice!!
It was a great little hotel. the breakfast was good, the room was clean and large enough for two of us comfortably. the internet worked well and the staff gave us recommendations to eat and for a tour.
Beautiful old historic building. Great breakfast, cooked over open flame. Good restaurant at the hotel. One of our rooms was spacious, and fit well for our family. Close to city centre with restaurants.
Great location with great views over Ouro Preto, beautiful colonial setting, very friendly staff and a great breakfast buffet made for a very pleasant stay
