Porto Alegre is a big city with a felling of small town.
Porto Alegre is a big city with a felling of small town. Lots of green areas, parks and squares. The shopping malls are huge. The traffic is not bad, just avoid to go out at rush hour. The main food is bbq (gaucho stye) and has steakhouses all you can eat with a reasonable price everywhere around the city.

Porto Alegre is full of potential.
Porto Alegre is full of potential. However, I did not feel real safe walking by myself in some areas. On Sunday afternoon, I met a local who spoke English. She said my feelings were correct and that I needed to be VERY aware of who was around me. The town itself has an enormous amount of wonderful, old architectural beauties to behold. If you are traveling through this area, a one-day stop is sufficient.

Compared to Salvador, Recife or Rio Porto Alegre has not so much to offer. There are some museums worth a short visit, there is the botanical garden and the Orla do Guaiba, the promenade/beach at the river, where it is especially nice to go to see the sunset. I think three days are enough.
A fourth day can be spent in Gramado and Canela to the waterfall Cascata do Caracol.

the worst part is the city airport connecting flight which is Lima Peru the worst most terrible airport in the world included the working personnel of the airport and the Avianca airline as well. in addition you can buy snitching to drink or eat because is a robbery. An example a little can of domestic beer they charge 7 dollars and a little pack of potato chips 5 dollars. if you can avoid Avianca airlines connecting in Lima Peru , do it , you will thanks me
I had been staying with my wife's family and we had lost power. We waited as long as we could but felt it was necessary to book a hotel since we had our baby with us. We made the reservation very late in the evening and were able to confirm with the property within 10 minutes of booking. When we arrived it was midnight. The front desk was very helpful and helped us through the process quickly
I love this hotel because is clean, the staff is very considerate and the localization is wonderful, right in the center of Porto Alegre, just few minutes of walking of Public Market and Farroupilha Park (if you like to jogging, this is a very good option). I recommend the lunch in Banchetti Grill, just 200m from the hotel, in the confluence of streets Alberto Bins and Cristovao Colombo.
Location is great, a nice neighborhood, groceries stores, pubs and shopping centers nearby. Nice parks not far away from the hotel. The staff is kind, I especially appreciated the kindness of the housemaids and personnel working in the kitchen. The breakfast buffet is sorted with fruits, cold platters, breads, a variety of beverages and other items.
Located in a nice location across street from a park & walking distance to cafes & restaurants. Clean modern rooms that are quiet with nice bathrooms. Very generous bkfst with delicious variety of cakes, breads, fruits & eggs. Elegant yet simple hotel.
Smart hotel - the hotel of the 21st Century that suits an individual's needs. Great location. Clean apartments. So much peace and quiet. Ideal for a break after a long period of work. Value for money, comfortable beds, and a sense of independence.
Porto Alegre is not a very safe city, so choosing a safe neighborhood is very important. As far as this apartment, the location is perfect, the evironment is safe, the facilities are great and the apartment was cleaned very well.
Breakfast is reasonably good. Far from outstanding. No Grapejuice. Number of choices not as high as in other hotels.
Coffee (regular) is as good as at the best hotels.
The hotel, the room, the facilities, the amazing and delicious breakfast. It's a great place, with a lot of style and a wonderful staff. Will certainly be back soon!
