Located in Villavieja, Alojamiento Casa de campo los Cactus provides a garden. There is a restaurant serving Latin American cuisine, and free private parking is available. You honestly couldn't ask for better people. The staff were muy amable (gentle, kind, helpful). The hostel is local, thoughtfully put together and in an awesome location. We walked to the observatory and a local restaurant, that is, when we weren't eating Norma's amazing food the hostel. Also, is as advertised. So, yes, it's rustic. This isn't a luxury stay. The place runs on solar power, which they save up during the day so that the guests can have the fans running at night. The bathrooms are a bit dingy but they are clean. Having a local experience with such warm people more than made up for the loss of a few creature comforts. Maul gave us a tour of both deserts and he was energetic, friendly, and super knowledgeable. If you don't have any Spanish language, you probably won't get the full experience here, but there were several guests with virtually no Spanish and the staff still went out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay.

Offering an outdoor portable pool and views of the garden, Dunas Tatacoa is located in Villavieja. Neiva is 34 km away. Free private parking is available on site. The staff are so sweet and nice. The whole area is very cute.

HOTEL CAMPESTRE LA ISLA is situated in Villavieja and offers a bar. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. Unfortunately we did not make it to the hotel, so I can't say much about it. I guess it could be a good place to relax.
