San Carlos de Bariloche is located on the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake and surrounded by the magnificent Nahuel Huapi National Park. Perched among 2000-metre high mountains, the town is one of the biggest winter sports resorts in South America. It is the Argentinean capital of artisan chocolate, and mixes Central European influence with native traditions.
Originally populated by different native tribes, the modern settlement grew in the last decades of the 19th century around the shop of the German immigrant Carlos Wiederhold. Its development reached a peak in the 1930s, with the completion of the railroad, the creation of the national park, and the construction of several emblematic buildings. The Civic Centre and the Neo-Gothic cathedral, as well as some famous Bariloche hotels were built to resemble a Swiss village.
The city is one of the most popular destinations in Argentina and a gateway to Patagonia. Hotels, luxury resorts, guest houses, B&Bs and hostels, are part of Bariloche’s large range of accommodation. It has famous ski stations like Mount Catedral, and is also the traditional destination for students in their last year of secondary school.
A 2-hour flight from Buenos Aires to Bariloche Airport is the quickest way to reach the town. If you’re planning a trip to Patagonia, don’t miss the Bariloche hotel deals available on Booking.com!
the amazing views, their breakfast room, they had the best...
the amazing views, their breakfast room, they had the best sushi restaurant with inside or outside sitting area overlooking lakes, mountains and award winning sushi.
getting around was easy we had our own rental car and visited other towns. I would avoid booking the type of room in the old part of the Hotel, they have a new and better section. they do have a well train staff that offers area tours, we drove to different areas ,visiting Cerro Tronador,Villa Angostura,Circuito chico, having more time to enjoy the views. Roads are safe to drive.

The worst in San Carlos de Bariloche is everything that is...
The worst in San Carlos de Bariloche is everything that is sold and offered to the tourists. Every walk you take is better than any paid tour. Not just because by walking around you'll get better views (amazing views by the way) and also overall experiences (get closer to the nature, be able to actually listen the sounds in the woods, do it at your own relaxed times) but also because you will avoid extremely (!!) long queue lines, bad mooded couples fighting, kids crying, dirt and noise...
To sum up, there are so many astonishing trails to walk around Bariloche and you get to see everything you want, that paying for a tour is just a rookie mistake.

Refugio del Lago is a real gem. The apartments are spacious, clean and well equipped. They are serviced daily. The location is brilliant, the view is outstanding. They have kayaks that you can use and the whole family enjoyed them. The hotel is family run and Armen and his parents Ruben and Lucy were exceedingly welcoming and professional. There are great barbeque facilities right on the lake edge. I would strongly recommend.
The staff is super friendly and professional. They are always available to help and very attentive to detail, The room is clean, modern, comfortable, and has incredible views, the hotel's location is amazing, far enough from the city to get more peace, but sufficiently close if you want to head into town (you will need a car).
Julia, the owner of the place was willing to help and the hospitality and the level of service were above all expectations.
Hotel is brand new, everything works greatly and it is only 3 quadras from the city center. Very quiet and comfortable location, 3 stores in the vicinity, great sushi place 50m down the road.
Very nice old hotel. It is a little bit anticuated but confortable. Some places and furniture were remodelated other remains original. Common places are very nice, specially the terrace and the living room. The view is fantastic!!!! The staff is very polite. They are willing to help you in whatever you need.
Very well located hotel. Has no breakfast but is practically right besides a very nice bakery. Staff is always helpful. Few steps away from everything you need in the city, including nice restaurants, supermarkets, stores, tour agencies and so on. Comfortable bed. Clean room.
The hotel staff person during the night shift was amazing. The room was too hot and opening the windows made the room too noisy. The person at reception provided us with a table fan which was a life saver. The rest of the staff weren't too helpful.
Absolutely sensational views. spacious and well-appointed. The owners were kind and helpful. The property manager was extremely clear and the communication was excellent. Favorite of all the places I stay during a month traveling Argentina!
We love the decoration, comfort and exclusivity of the hotel, in addition to the excellent service, with a beautiful landscape typical of Bariliche, with lake and mountains. The restaurant is excellent and has great prices.
Adriana and her Father were extremely welcoming and very attentive hosts. The room was comfortable and breakfast was all home made and delicious. Perfect location to explore Llao Llao and Bariloche area.
Really lovely hotel with lovely lounge bar and pool with incredible views!
We moved from an awful hotel (hotel huemul) and it was a joy to be at this hotel with a lake view from our room :)
The room we booked was beautiful and modern with an amazing view! The breakfast was good with a large selection of options. Location was very good to explore the area of Llao Llao by car.
The view we had from the room 1106, the hotel is located very close from downtown, Havana and the ice bar. The staff was really nice and the rooms were super clean.
