Ski, Nature and Fun in Patagonia
San Carlos de Bariloche is located on the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake and surrounded by the magnificent Nahuel Huapi National Park. Perched among 2000-metre high mountains, the town is one of the biggest winter sports resorts in South America. It is the Argentinean capital of artisan chocolate, and mixes Central European influence with native traditions.
Originally populated by different native tribes, the modern settlement grew in the last decades of the 19th century around the shop of the German immigrant Carlos Wiederhold. Its development reached a peak in the 1930s, with the completion of the railroad, the creation of the national park, and the construction of several emblematic buildings. The Civic Centre and the Neo-Gothic cathedral, as well as some famous Bariloche hotels were built to resemble a Swiss village.
The city is one of the most popular destinations in Argentina and a gateway to Patagonia. Hotels, luxury resorts, guest houses, B&Bs and hostels, are part of Bariloche’s large range of accommodation. It has famous ski stations like Mount Catedral, and is also the traditional destination for students in their last year of secondary school.

It is a very picturesque area, but unfortuately we only had about 1/2 a day of good weather while we were there. We drove the Rue de Sieta Lagos but had to turn around halfway there due to encountering snow. The rest of our stay was very rainy and cold. It was fall, but was told that it was extremely early to be having snow. The town is cute but can be fully taken in in a couple hours or so. the amazing views, their breakfast room, they had the best sushi restaurant with inside or outside sitting area overlooking lakes,mountains and award winning sushi. getting around was easy we had our own rental car and visited other towns. I would avoid booking the type of room in the old part of the Hotel,they have a new and better section. they do have a well train staff that offers area tours, we drove to different areas ,visiting Cerro Tronador,Villa Angostura,Circuito chico, having more time to enjoy the views. It has plenty places to go, incredible views. Being less populated than other places in the world, nature views, not to mention trakking, are MAREVOLUS. You can walk ours not crossing anyone, just in a trail in the woods, mountains. Bariloche had world best-in-class restaurants.... and value-for-money ones as well. Last bat not leaste: the people. Amazing place, it is never too much with this amazing city and its surroundings. It is very easy to travel around as there are plenty of buses. The Fonda del tío is a must as a restaurant. Cerro catedral and the neighbouring mountains are only amazing. The 7 lakes also too beautiful to explain

Location is very nice with a lake view, although not on the lake, and just a few minutes away from downtown by car. The gardens around the hotel are very beautiful. The facilities are not new but are well maintained. Rooms were spacious and very clean with large comfy beds. Personnel was quite professional and friendly. Breakfast was quite ok. Indoor heated pool was a nice way to relax at the end of the day and gym was decently fitted for hotel gym standards. Overall a great 4-star hotel, well worth the stay.
