Bahía Blanca used to be a decent city, with everything decently put and fine prices, but the last decade or two had turned it into a sh1t hole when it comes to hotels, taxis, and services in general. Absurd prices for absolute average and low quality services. For something really good, be ready to pay New York prices in this small, insignificant city. The only good restaurant in the city is Gambrinus, there's good service for short stops at YPF Full gas stations, and it's definitely NOT a place for any kind of tourism. Mornings in a good cafe can be something nice (if you find a decent cafe open before 10hs., and not run/catered by young stup1d and careless people), but not much more than that. If you don't NEED to come to Bahía Blanca, and your time/budget is limited, better stay away from it.

First - don't drive here unless you want an adventure.

First - don't drive here unless you want an adventure. This is not a tourist town. Street signs are confusing, and except for main streets, signs don't exist. Maintenance of streets and sidewalks does not exist. Broken sidewalks makes for constant trip hazards. We noticed that locals walk together side by side, even 3 or 4 together. It appears to maybe be an Argentine custom, but if you happen to be walking in the opposite direction on a sidewalk, no one will squeeze together or move at all to open a path for you, forcing you to step off the sidewalk to accommodate them. This is one of the most dirty city's we have ever visited. Most of all, we have never seen a city with as much dog urine and excrement on the sidewalks as Bahia Blanca. We don't think anyone picks up after their dog. It is disgusting! This is in the main down-town district and it is impossible to not constantly step in dog excrement. It is impossible for city officials to not know how dirty the sidewalks are, but there is no sign of any cleaning of them.

Bahia Blanca is a small city by the sea but access to the coastline is not easy as it is occupied by commercial ports and petrochemical installations. It is NOT a tourist destination in itself, rather a convenient gateway to other places. About an hour away by car there are very nice beaches (Pehuen Co, Monte Hermoso) and "sierras" (Sierra de la Ventana). For someone driving from Buenos Aires to Bariloche (in the Andes) or southern Patagonia, it is a good place to stop after a day drive.

Reasonable old fashioned Hotel well located in a good area of the city. Horrible refrigeration system. The room was hot with outside temperature of 70 F, no ventilation and the air conditioner did not work (look other recent ratings mentioning the same problem).

We were welcomed well. They were very kind to our dog and let her stay in the room. The hotel is basic but still very clean and comfortable. Good value for money. Lots of lovely plants in the patio. All the facilities you need for a comfortable stay.

The reservation was not confirmed, when I arrived on the hotel the recepcionist informed that it was full. The hotel impression was too bad. I stayed on other place.
