Graz is nice, probably a day is enough in the off-season but I expect you'd need 2 days when it's summer time and busier because of queues etc. Buy a 24 or 48 hour pass for Museums is worth the expense.

Ideal for you if you like historic towns with lots of landmarks, local food, some interesting shops, museums, a castle hill with a view. Our fave places were the old quarters, the old department store interior, and the view from its top cafe, the cathedral (heard practising for organ concert!!), beautiful bookshop Morawa with cafe on top, Castle hill...
If walking gets too much, use the funicular to get on castle hill and 24h bus/tram ticket to take you anywhere within city. We tasted Austrian food in Franziskaner Quarter (my fave part), vegetarian food in a more modern cafe and finally we ate at a Greek place (good value for money 20 euros per person).
We would avoid visiting in very cold or very hot weather.

We were there to see family mostly and only there for long weekend but have to say got to see fantastic sights of Graz from walking down little side streets to visiting museums and going up to high places to get a good view of the city. The people and nice too and friendly from the staff at our hotel to stopping in cafes and will always try and help if you need directions. It’s also a clean city as didn’t see much rubbish laying around and best of all it has great links to get around Graz both for sightseeing and if you need to get to airports. The transport links are very punctual and come regularly so no need to rush around

I was on a small trip to Graz for a lecture at the Afro-Asian Institute about Gender Equality in Buddhism. In my free time I walked through the city and saw some nice buildings and shops. I visited the Volksgarten not far from the main railway station and there is a stupa there for the buddhist community of Styria. After paying my respect I continued exploring the city and beside some closed down buildings I cannot complain about the city. To be completely honest, the closed down buildings are not even ugly, they just look a little bit sad. I really enjoyed my stay in Graz and want to come back there in the future.

I’m familiar with a lot of Central Europe but I had never been to Graz before. It’s a wonderful small city to visit with a lot of character and charm. Most attractions can be reached on foot, and the city tram and bus system is also easy to use. We took a guided walking tour of the city and especially enjoyed the views of the river and exploring the Burg with its vast tunnel system. The food was excellent and an excursion to a local winery and tavern was just a short city bus ride away, to Schmied König.
Perfect location if arriving by train, only 20 mins walk from the old town. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast selection was excellent and very nicely presented. The bikes for rent were good for getting around the town, there are good cycle paths up and down the river. Would definitely stay here again, even though it's not directly in the city centre. There's a couple of good restaurants serving Austrian dishes nearby.
An excellent hotel. Very good and quiet location. Large comfortable and very clean rooms. Beds in which he sleeps very well. Varied and good breakfast. Kind and competent staff. Very nicely arranged restaurant in the courtyard of the hotel with very tasty food. I recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to visit the city of Gratz and wants to have an excellent stay.
I had an amazing experience at this fresh and innovative hotel from the moment I was warmly greeted at Reception to the genuine ‘Come back soon!’ on Departure day. Every need and comfort was anticipated and any requests met with cheerful enthusiasm. I will definitely be staying at this charming boutique hotel during my next trip to Graz!
The hosts are lovely people who just want you to have a good time and are available for every question you might come up with. We were greeted with a warm, clean apartment in the cold Austrian winter with wine and chocolates as compliment.
Location is great, just 10-15mins away if you walk and a couple of tram stops either way.
Close to the train station. Comfortable, fully equipped, spacious, modern apartment on the 5th floor of the apartment block. Good value (for Austria) and great comms from host. Looks a bit sketchy outside but like many European apartments much better inside. Tram lines on the street could be noisy for some (not for us though).
It was a nice stay in this apartment. Typical rustic austrian flat with 60th flair. Everything was clean and gives a comfortable feeling. Also for families with kids. This apartment has something fairytale. Contactless check-in and check-out. Very friendly host. I would book it again. Will recommend it.
Linda provided a generous, healthy, tasty buffet breakfast, Seating was comfortable in a nicely decorated room. The hotel has a lot of history - three generations. Location was quiet and secure with good free parking almost next door. Close to the city centre. Good value for the price.
Wonderful little hotel located centrally in Graz. It feels like a hotel you would find in a small little town (in a good way) with very friendly staff and a cozy family-run atmosphere. They were very communicative during the booking process and helped us with a late check-in.
The room has a luxurious feeling, with very comfortable beds and stylish furniture (the hotel is, after all, in a very upscale style store). Beautiful shower. The location could not be better (easily accessible by public transportation from the train station).
I like breakfast. It's very rich with a lot of meals. Very friendly staff in the hotel. The location of the hotel is close to the central railway station. There are a lot of stores around the hotel. I like little notes in the room about hotel history.
We had a very nice stay at the hotel. It is renovated, comfortable and clean. I had a request for the staff and they were extremely helpful. Lastly, the breakfast was delicious with a big variety.
Pleasant hotel just across the river from the old town. Large room. Easy access by car and discount parking very close to hotel. Good breakfast. Not cheap but Austria is an expensive country.
Excellent small touches: great candies and fine water given daily, great decor, fine breakfast. We even used and enjoyed the sauna in the sister hotel since Wiesler’s was under repair.
The breakfast was very nice for the price we paid. Generally the hotel is good also the position is good if you are with car. Tram station is very ner.
