Sofia is the Bulgarian capital and its largest city, and is situated at the foot of Vitosha Mountain in the very centre of the Balkan Peninsula. With a variety of architectural styles, picturesque scenery and easy access to outdoor activities, this city is a definite must-see!
From well-preserved city walls built in the 7th-century BC through to the early Medieval buildings. From the 4th-century Rotunda St. George and 10th-century Boyana Church with its stunning 13th-century frescoes to Socialist-era monumental constructions, Sofia offers a real treat for the city dwellers and history lovers.
Most of the popular landmarks are located in the Oborishte district, the most central part of the city featuring plenty of greenery, cobbled streets and the most popular landmark, the Neo-Byzantine Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
Sofia offers plenty of natural sites too, including the renowned thermal and mineral springs, the primary reason Thracians established the city here before the 7th-century BC. Enjoy a walk in the most popular parks, the Borisova gradina or the impressive Vitosha Nature Park with over 270 square km situated entirely within the city limits.
From hiking to skiing on the Vitosha and from sightseeing to relaxing in mineral springs, Sofia offers a plethora of fun for everyone! On Booking.com you can find nearly 190 properties in the city: from 5-star accommodation in the city centre to convenient hotels near Sofia Airport.

I booked a private city tour the first day and it was wonderful to learn about the city and history. Then I had plenty of recommendations to continue exploring on my own. I would highly recommend History museum, multiple churches, parks, restaurants, architecture viewing and just roaming the city for hours. Food was delicious and plenty of vegetarian options. Loved the city and can't wait to come back!

Lovely place. Peaceful and quiet. Not very clean.
Lovely place. Peaceful and quiet. Not very clean. Lots of antiquities everywhere in the city center. Lovely museum under the church of St Alexander Nevski. Beautiful blossoming trees in the beginnings of March, many decorated with red-and-white ribbons for celebrating the start of the spring.

We had two full days in Sofia and that was enough.
We had two full days in Sofia and that was enough. We saw all of the attractions on the first day and spent the whole day walking around the city. The first day it was cold but sunny all day. The second day was cloudy and very cold wind.

It is a very nice city for a short gateway.
It is a very nice city for a short gateway. The negative thing I would say is that in general, Bulgarians are a bit rude although obviously this is just the general perception, I did meed super nice people who were willing to help you, others....didn't really bother to even look at you.

People are friendly, lots of nice restaurants and bars, some cool free tour options, cute and walkable city center. Our flight got in late and we discovered that all kitchens in the city close at 22, despite longer opening hours on Google maps. Generally Google maps is not always up to date in Sofia. Nevertheless we had two great, albeit freezing cold days there!
The reception staff were exceptional from the start. The most beautiful Bulgarian lady was so warm and welcoming and the funny little gay guy was superb at taking the time to show us around. He was never too busy. His remarkable ability to listen to even the slightest complaint was astonishing. This pocket dynamite of a man was phenomenal - his generosity was breathtaking - always offering discounts when we never asked and any problem with a room mate his problem solving skills were from Mars - so far out of this world!
The hotel is very close to the central railway station and the center of Sofia. We were able to left the luggage when we arrived early in the morning and go out to explore the city. Due to some unexpected adventures with Bulgarian rail travel we haven't slept that night and were very tired but the receptionist pointed us to the coffee station and a lounge where we had some rest and reconsidered. Without her help we wouldn't see Sofia this time around as our flight was next morning.
First we have room as it was expected. Then they give me another and a facture.
The room have most necessarily things for travel. THE STAFF IS REALLY PROFESSIONAL.
THE ARE TWO REFRIGERATORS WITH WATER BOTTLES, SOFT DRINGS, SWEET CHOCHOLATES AND YOU CAN USE BANKNOTES AS WELL AS COINS. The hotel is two minutes away from the big shopping mall, the 24-hour opened
cigarretes and a famous early opeining sweet cafei. There is also a small shop with traditional bulgarian foods,
I would highly recommend Sofiel cozy apartment - Top Center Sofia not only because it is the best cosy apartment in the middle of Sofia, but also the owners are very polite and friendly!!! Easy Check-In and Out. Also when i arrived i was greeted by a small gift from the owners, which i didnt expect. For the people reading this comment and who have not visited Sofia, it is a perfect way to experience the capital of Bulgaria and especially bulgarian hospitality!
The perfect hotel for 1-3-5 stay in Sofia. It is part of the campus of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, very clean and having a nice restaurant with garden and good food. Nice and helping personnel. In the surroundings you can find many examples of the constructivist architecture of communism times - these are part of the institutes of the Academy of Sciences. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood and has a big parking.
Situated right in the center but really quiet since the apartment is in a house in the back yard. Check-in was contactless and really easy. Everything (supermarket, bakery, bars, restaurants and sights) is nearby.
The apartment is nicely furnished, the bed comfortable and there is a nice coffee machine. It was exceptionally clean and the bathroom was the only one we had during our Bulgaria round trip with natural light.
Absolutely amazing stay in the center of Sofia , very comfortable and clean. The welcoming was so very friendly and made me feel right at home . The flat had everything one needs for a very comfortable stay and they went over and above, to provide even the things you don’t expect ever to find in a rented home . I am absolutely going to use it again next time I visit Bulgaria and Sofia . Thank you very much
I liked that the stuff was polite and send me a video with how the system of the door worked. And helped me with the taxi. Very polite.
And then, despite of the bad weather, the room had a lot of heat, was clean and the water pressure amazing. I really enjoyed it. It was in the center. I recommend this hotel.
The hotel is situated in the area with quite decent public transport connection (busses). The room was big, pillows nice, good bathroom and table with kettle, tea and filtered water. Quire stylish. The breakfast was really good, especially Bulgarian specialties and chia pudding with jam and peanut butter
One of the best hotel not only in Bulgaria but in Europe! Nice design. Big comfortable rooms . A wonderful SPA . Very classy Italian restaurant with good crowd . Very friendly and professional staff! Good location 10 minutes froM the street with shops and nice and plenty coffee shops Vitoshka street
The room was clean, big enough for two people. The view on on side of the building wasn't so interesting. They offer you coffee in your room every day. Confortable beds, clean blankets. Hotel close to the metro not far from the city center and the main attractions.
A bit out of center of Sofia but owners are very nice and helpful and in the apartment you have all you need for cooking. Coffeemaker is also a nice touch. Great craft beer bar, coffee shop and Bulgarian food restaurant are in the 5 min by foot
The apartment is located close to the center . I requested for my baby a crib they also offered baby sheets and baby blanket . The owner was really kind and he recommended us to eat at a fantastic restaurant with traditional Bulgarian food .
Location in the centre of Bulgaria’s 🇧🇬capital, ideal for short walks in the central part; very close to historical monuments, art galleries, theaters, state institutions.
Very clean rooms, very kind and helpful staff
Elly and Aleksandra really helped me with my stay and were super helpful and nice, as well as the Italian kitchen with the best food I've eaten so far for the whole stay in bulgaria so far.
Great apartment with amazing artwork in the bathroom. Cosy kitchen and living room. Great location, next to a variety of big grocery stores, walking distance from Bulgaria Mall
