It's a city with not much to offer. You're better off in La Paz, where the views are nicer, the scenery is just better. But you're really much better off in the more rural places, in the mountains, by the lakes and away from the cities.

Santa Cruz de la Sierra is an interesting city with a busy and parcely old part downtown. You find museums, the main plaza with the cathedral, shops for everyone, big restaurants and small places who sell delicious local food. Also thera are some modern shopping malls as also black markets where you find everything you might need for living. Cultural events are offered and some really nice places with abundant semi-tropical vegetation as well as places with a lake to swim and hotels. You can take a taxi or go by bus to almost every place you like, in general it is very safe, only in the outskirts you should be more careful and maybe not go there at nigt. Always take your purse with important things in front of you - just in case!
I certainly recommend Santa Cruz for a visit! A little bit outside there are the sanddunes and the botanical garden and other places like the Chiquitania, also very worth visiting!

Friendly people (is famous for its hospitality).
Friendly people (is famous for its hospitality). Is the most productive area of the country, you can find everything you expect of a big city. I like my staying and I will be back with more time and better organized agenda. Given the size of the city and the weather (mostly humid and hot) a car is necessary to visit properly Santa Cruz.

Nothing much to see in Santa Cruz, especially if you want to avoid catching Dengue Fever. I avoided traveling to more rural areas or even to the botanical gardens due to the high number of dengue cases there. In the city itself there's very little to see, although the nicer parts have some decent-looking restaurants and bars, so maybe during the dry season (less mosquitos) it might be a nice place to relax.

Santa cruz has a old historic center, a bit dangerous.
Santa cruz has a old historic center, a bit dangerous. Better to stay in the modern hotel district of Avenida San Martin, locals call this the VIP zone. Many nice restaurants and cafes, stores, boutiques and shopping malls.
I highly suggest you visit the jesuit mision area!
The five day circuit is perfect to see all the misions.

We liked Casa de Camba and the city center.
We liked Casa de Camba and the city center. It is not easy to walk on some streets because they are uneven. We didn’t like seeing the trash in the streets. Other than that there is plenty to do and see in the city.

The hotel was very beautiful and classy. It felt luxurious at the cost to stay there! The shower was probably my favorite part, but I also loved the view from the bar/breakfast area. Breakfast itself had a wonderful selection. The bed was very comfortable and I loved the slight weight to the bedspread. The huge windows let in a wonderful amount of light a f gave us a great view of Santa Cruz. Of all the hotels I have stayed at in Santa Cruz, this is the one I most would want to return to.
I loved the location. It was within 2 blocks of everything: Restaurants, shopping district, etc. No taxi was needed for the vast majority of my movement due to La Siesta's proximity to so many amenities. The staff were all very friendly and professional. They were also helpful during all my interactions within them over the course of 2 weeks. The price was reasonable especially compared to other hotels I frequented in SC, BO in the past.
Very good hotel, in nice neigbourhood, with shops and restaurants nearby. You can even walk to the center (40 minutes). Nice, comfortable rooms, very good breakfast with nice selection of fresh fruits and different fresh juices. Staff at the reception was very helpful, professional and friendly, especially Francisco.
Absolutely fantastic. Without a doubt the best place we have stayed in Bolivia. The apartment is spotless, big, and has everything you need. The social area with pool and gym is also great. In all we were very only sad we only got to stay here one night as we had already booked flights out of Bolivia.
The hotel is modest but the price quality ratio is excellent. The booking online was easy, the payment at the hotel matched the price online, the receptionist Norma was very kind, accommodating, and friendly. Breakfast is simple but served kindly. The wifi worked just fine for work purposes.
The familiar hotel Súper 8 was absolutely incredible. The owners were really friendly and helpful, I felt at home since the first moment.
They also gave me some suggestion for visiting the city, lovely!! And their sausage dog Lupe was my favourite part of staying there :)
The hotel has lovely wood work and design, both in the rooms and interior. The rooms are large and have functionjng a.c . It t is very centrally located. The continental breakfast was good. The staff were pleasant.
One point for the location of the hotel is very central (next to the central plaza) and another for the room as it was a decent size and reasonably clean on arrival, however please see the comments below.
Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast and lobby common rooms. Dinner + lunch were delicious. Pay a bit more for the two floor suite - two balconies, two bathrooms and almost 1000 square feet.
The facilities were amazing, the hotel is new, so everything is perfect, clean, and neat.
The poll is nice, and the location is great, since is in a new area close to the city.
I like every aspect of the hotel, staff are really nice, the location is near town centre, wifi works well, breakfast is delicious and all for a cheap price.
