Maragogi it’s a small and ugly town!
The beaches are incredible and the natural pool is amazing! But the infrastructure, the town and houses are very poor. The surroundings are dirty! If you are going to Maragogi stay at a resort!

Maragogi seaside town is not that impressive, but the beach around are very beautiful! Just try any exit-road of the AL-101 main road, which lead you to the seafront and get surprised by the view! Not your taste? Just try a few kilometres down the road again!

Maragogi is beautiful but the pictures you see online are probably from neighbour beaches such as Japaratinga. Do not miss Bitingui Praia Hotel for the day (70 reais that is debited from your consumption).
The natural pools are AMAZING - do not miss them.
The buggy tour is not worth it as it is mostly on main roads.
The restaurants on the main street are not great, eat a bit more local and only go there for the drinks/music.
Beautiful warm weather even in wet season (April), it did rain a few days but not all day.

Where to start...
Where to start...
This was our first time in Maragogi, we had only heard good things and when we got there, we realised the good things were all about the beaches, and natural pools, etc. The actual town is AWFULL! Its really horrible and pretty scary at night. It almost feels like a 'favela' if you start walking in any other street that is off the beach road.
We booked a pousada (one of the most expensive ones of our trip in the Northeast of Brazil), only a few minutes walk from the centre and from the beach, thinking that that would be ok (like anywhere else we've been to).
Being that it was expensive (and still one of the cheapest in the area), we thought Maragogi may be like a cute, expensive little town.
We got there at night... Oh my God! I thought we had the wrong address (or the wrong town!), when we arrived to a place that looked crazy scary. I guess it is not the owners fault that the whole town is so ugly (and scary, especially at night!) all the ok places are located just in the main beach street, and everything else that is nice is actually OUTSIDE of Maragogi.
Without a car, you wouldn't go out at night in that town! Its seemed to me that most people that was coming to Maragogi came in tours, and were staying at nice resorts outside of Maragogi, and so, didn't get to see the (ugly) reality of Maragogi.
There are lot of other little towns near Maragogi with pretty centres (that feel safer) and pretty places to stay, with lovely shops and restaurants. I am never going to stay in Maragogi again.
Also the main beach is not the best. Any of the beaches near by, are much better.

beautiful place!

Great time at Barra Grande
The Pousada Areal Barra Grande is a great place in case you are looking for something at the Barra Grade beach. It is right by the “Caminho de Moises” there are nice “Receptivos” these are bars by the beach. As the ocean has been covering the sand little by little they have put these bar where you can enjoy its facilities having more space and infrastructure to enjoy the beach.
It’s is like 10 in from Maragogi. We felt well welcomed and having parking is great. The breakfast is also super tasty!
The staff were helpful and location is good - very close to the beach. They arranged for us to go to the natural pools which was a great experience (when the rain cleared). We also liked the animal park and animals in the hotel grounds - they seem very well cared for. We loved the Toucans!
Unfortunately it was very unusual heavy rain when we were there (even the car park was flooded) so we did not see the hotel at its best - in better weather I am sure the pool and pool bar could be great.
This is one of the best values I have had recently. The hotel was super clean. The staff (especially the night staff and the women who made breakfast) were very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was good. The shower had a lot of water pressure which helped after being at the beach. I also liked that they sold water, soda, etc. for reasonable prices (same at a market) and not overcharged like a lot of hotels.
The only highlight of the stay, is the beach, which is in my opinion the most beautiful between São José da Coroa Grande and Maragogi. Prettier than Antunes! The color is a kind of baby blue amazing to look at and the water temperature is warm. You can sit near the sea by the shade of a beach umbrella, on chairs or recliners, and order drinks and snacks that the waiters will bring to you while you're lounging.
Such an delight - we are 100% returning to stay at Árvo Boutique Hotel !!! Staff we attentive- food was good - facilities excellent- apartments 5* - I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough!!! After 2 months of travelling staying in many locations this was the cherry on the cake for us! Thank you to everyone that made our visit special !!!!!
The staff ! Amazing people, smiling, nice, welcoming and always ready to help, anytime of the day or night. The food was very good and being able to order anything until evening for a good price literally saved me. I loved the vibes of the hotel, everyone super friendly. Would definitely visit again. Also the hotel itself has a lot of charm ;-)
The staff was very helpful. There are absolutely everything you need in the house. Everything was very clean and I felt like I was at home all the time. It is located in a walking distance to Caminho de Moisés, one of the most interesting touristic places in Maragogi. I’ll certainly book this place again, when I visit Maragogi next time.
The location was great. Close to groceries stores, a 10-minute walk to Maragogi downtown (full of restaurants, bars and souvenirs stores), and a 3-minute walk to the beach. The pool is nice, and the room is spacious. The staff is friendly and courteous, so definitely I would come back.
The fact that the hotel is new and all the facilities are new was the main reason to choose this hotel. Very comfortable rooms: beds, bed linen, towels all very good.
Breakfast is very good, plenty of food to choose from.
Aline and her mother, the owners are very kind and helpful.
Perfect Staff, all we met were perfect! Bruna of the restaurant was divine and very helpfull. Except one guy who told me he was going to book my taxi to leave the hotel and didn´t do it but another employe helped me as well. The play personel were very good also.
Don't know where to start... Great location on the side of Maragogi, almost private beach, great staff and crazy breakfasts... even pizza was great! Room had everything what was needed and there was parking.
We loved our room - beautiful view. The staff was amazing and very hospitable. The restaurant is probably the best in Maragogi. Ana, Bruno, Dilene, Sabrina and everyone who worked there is amazing.
location is perfect! we don’t like busy destinations like Maragogi and this place saved us and our day there. simply perfect! staff is excellent, extremely helpful and friendly
Luiz was amazing, check us in and helped with any questions we had. The hotel has a nice territory, the garden is beutiful, and the beach is just a short walk away.
Very nice area in Maragogi, pleasant environment and amazing Breakfast. But the best of all, was how friendly people were. Vitor and Camila are awesome.
