We really enjoyed this escape far from it all in Sergipe. Though a short 1km walk from town (and a little further from the sea), the walk over the dunes can be challenging in the afternoon sun. Be prepared, or skip town and swing in a hammock watching the river tide rise and fall all day instead. Kayaking to the nearby Ilha Tieta, we found it strewn with garbage from the previous weekend. We did what we could to clean up - it's worth some effort to help preserve this special place.
