I think the best time to get there is during OKTOBERFEST - if you like german beer and a lot of people ;-) But check out Pomerode nearby as it is a smaller place and- I unfortunately only traveled through by bus.

It's a charming city, easy to get around by foot if you stay...
It's a charming city, easy to get around by foot if you stay nearby the XV de Novembro st. There are some museums, which cost R$5 to visit (some are for free) where you can spend half a day to see it all. Blumenau is very prepared to receive tourists during Oktoberfest. There are chemical toilets and garbage cans everywhere so the streets keep its cleansing all the time. The event itself is pretty fun and there are people from everywhere during it.

Not for tourists except during Octoberfest. Hard to get around without a car. Restaurants closed during the afternoon. One day is long enough to see the historic district and the lovely museums. Suggest Pomerode is the preferred city to visit for a true taste of German culture and history .

The room was clean and comfortable. There is valet parking for the car in the hotel garage. Breakfast exceeded our expectations with quite a variety of fresh fruit and sweets. The staff at the reception was friendly and helpful, we communicated with them via Google Translate. We did not regret our stay in this hotel and recommend it.
