City is known more from theme park (Beto Carrero) than any...
City is known more from theme park (Beto Carrero) than any other thing, but still has plenty of options if you're travelling by car. Public transport is almost inexistent (a trully nightmare), so avoid going by bus or prepare yourself to waste hours trying to move around. There are many beaches on the surroundings (unfortunately, we can't enjoy most of them due to weather conditions), and city is near to many other touristic attractions (like the cities of Balneario Camboriú [30min south, by car], Joinville [about 1 hour north] and Navegantes [where you can find paragliding practice at Morro do Careca]). In Armação do Itapocorói, we can find supermarkets and some restaurants open at least until 22h. Route to and from the city is very straight forward, you can travel on BR-101 (the highway) or by ferry boat (recommended if highway has heavy traffic, but not in normal conditions [it works 24h]). We had dinner at a very good pizza carvery called "Top Haus" (in Navegantes) and a Peruvian restaurant called Salsa Brava (in Itajaí) - we highly recommend both of them!

Good for a short stay in case you go to Beto Carrero Park. I would recommend visiting Oceanographic Museum in Piçaras, would you like to flee from the craziness of the theme park. Great to go there with kids.

Pehna has a nice feel to it. Simple town, mainly catering to theme park tourism. Don Leo's Pizzaria is an excellent pizza restaurant; I can't recommend this place enough. The white chocolate and strawberry dessert pizza was devine. If you a looking for a tranquil and kid friendly local in Brazil, this is definitely it. Beto Carrero World is an excellent theme park. But a few notes of warning here: If you are looking for a theme park with many fast and wild rollercoasters, you will be disappointed. The theme park has three rollercoasters, of varying speeds. However, what separates this theme park from many others, including the many North American and Australian theme parks I've visited - is the variety. I would like this theme park to a cross between Disneyland, Las Vegas shows and a local fair. Also, I think this theme park is best suited for children no older than about 12 or 13 and at least 1.30m tall. Suggest you try and come off-peak, as the lines can be ridiculous. I suggest Sunday's during non-peak times. Other than that, don't miss Monga, the Hot-Wheels Epic Show (or as Brazilains say "hot-a-wheels") and Madagascar Circus Show. These shows themselves are worth the price of admission. Suggest you buy off-site, to avoid the lines. Buy water on your way to Beto Carrero. And remember very few people (including the ride attendants) speak English, so be patient, node, and expect South American service. Enjoy.

Location very good also, there is a small beach in front of the hotel and a very good pizza 5 minutes walking. If you are visiting the amusement park, you will need 5min to arrive there by car.
