Nature around is fascinating and most exceptional, warranting a longer stay but best outside for the rainy season. The facilities are well designed and confortable and staff very friendly and helpful.

Atins is a quiet and small town close to Lencois Maranhenses...
Atins is a quiet and small town close to Lencois Maranhenses National Park. It is where Preguiça river meets the see, making up a beautiful scenery. As in Lençois, we see a mixture of abundance of water along with dry weather (during our stay at least) and sand dunes. It is widespread and you have to rely on local quadricicle taxis to move around, since the soft sand along the pathways makes walking a more strenuous activity. Very much worth a visit for its nature, beaches, food and people.

Atins is a little bit overrated.
Atins is a little bit overrated. As soon as you arrive, you are expected to pay for a 4x4 in order to reach your hostel whereas the village is small. It is the perfect start for the hiking trail. Be careful and bring some money as payments with cards are made more difficult there.

The place is amazing, the Lençóis spectacular.
The place is amazing, the Lençóis spectacular. The shrimp risoto with caramelized pineapple from Sesé’s restaurant is delicious! Urra!Beer Artesanal Brewery has a wide variety of really good beers. The only thing I was not impressed was the amount of plastic bottles and garbage that is washed in with the ocean’s tide...and also the lack of an efficient method of recycling the garbage and plastic in the village. Everywhere you look there is trash on the ground...so sad...
