Great spot for our family of 5.
Great spot for our family of 5. The hotel had a great breakfast. Brought In a playpen for us for our 2 yo but we didn’t even need it as the bed was very large and could fit our son in with us. our other two kids stayed in a bunk bed which they loved.
Location is a tiny bit far with the kids, but out kids actually did great walking to and from. Our only tiny complaint would be the pool was green, even though they cleaned and treated it every day. There was too much chlorine which was more irritating for me than the kids. They didn’t mind at all. Overall great!
We would definitely come back!

The entire island is wonderful and staying at Abraão was perfect for us. There were shops and supermarkets and many things to do such as canoeing and hiking. It is not the cheapest place in Brazil but really worth the visit! We had some good Italian food and enjoyed some caipirinha deals. We felt super safe also at night and enjoyed that we were able to walk everywhere!

Ilha Grande is paradise on earth, staying in Abrao is the smartest decision since is the "center" of the island. From there you can go everywhere you'd like. Either by hiking / walking or boat, you'll see the most amazing beaches, some of them even look caribbean.

Abraão itself is a place full of inns, BnBs and restaurants, but regarding attractions, Abraão is just the starting point of most "Ilha Grande" adventures.
Getting to Abraão is pretty easy, but you always have to pay attention to either the public ferry schedule or the "Flexboat" schedule. The public ferry (Barca) comes from Angra or Mangaratiba only once a day and it's the cheapest passage you can get, but it's a 90 minutes trip. The Flexboat schedule is made of different private companies and they cost about 3 times more than the public ferry, but the commute is way faster taking about 30 minutes.
I really liked staying at "Pousada Agua Viva" and their help with the commute was awesome.
The best meal I had at Abraao was at "Lua e Mar" and I ate the "Lua e Mar Grill"

I would highly recommend to spend 3-4 days at ilha grande and specifically Abraão. Take a boat trip to different islands on two of those days and spend the rest of the days just hanging out on the island itself. There is not too much to do on itself but eating at nice restaurants, speaking to the friendly locals and hanging out at the beach will make sure you will be fully rested at the end of your stay over here.
Simple accommodations but had everything you need: comfy bed, warm shower, functional lockers (unlike some other hostels in Brazil) breakfast included, etc.
The guy at the reception (Gonza) was extremely helpful and patient with me when I had questions about this and that, as I just landed in Brazil a day before arriving this hostel and needed some orientation about few things as well as local tours.
The location is right next to the centre (close to everything) yet in a quiet place which was nice.
Excellent value, delicious breakfast and afternoon teas, breathtaking garden, but more importantly an amazing host!
Rennie went above and beyond to ensure we could get on the island (even when our bus arrived late, causing us to miss the boat), always gave us advice whenever we wanted to hike, dive, go to a restaurant, book the way back to Rio, etc.
It really felt like staying at a relative's place, and not at a hotel, which was so heartwarming. One of the best hotel where we've been.
The owner and staff of this hotel, besides being very kind and friendly, are absolutely exceptional at hospitality and very well-trained to make your stay as comfortable, easy, and pleasant as possible. I had some special needs regarding transport which they kindly arranged. The hotel is beautiful and comfortable and the location is relatively close to Vila Abraao which makes it one of the more convenient ones as well. Very highly recommend! Thank you again for a great stay!
We loved everything about our wonderful stay at Asalem. The setting is exactly what we were looking for - off the beaten path with a great bar and wonderful staff but still close enough to town. Fabrizio and the staff were wonderful and accommodated our every need. Rooms were comfy and had everything we needed. Views were spectacular!! We traveled as two couples for my 40th birthday and I'm so happy I picked this hotel. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.
We really enjoyed our stay! The Pousada is beautifully located a few steps up the sea so that the guests get to enjoy a wonderful sea view. Our room was perfectly clean and the view from the balcony was stunning. Shower, AC, fan, fridge etc everything worked perfectly well and the breakfast was amazing too. Can highly recommend to stay here! Forget about the latest negative reviews, we stayed in so many places across Brazil and this one was simply perfect 😍
We spent an amazing 4 days at Pedro Rei. With its convenient location (a few minutes walk from Abraao) and its sober yet modern architecture, this charming housing has it all : a breathtaking view from the rooms and breakfast room, comfortable beds and facilities as well as very friendly and welcoming hosts (A big thank you to all of them, especially Stephany and Stella).
If you go to ilha grande, i would strongly recommend to stay at pedro rei.
Gorgeous, green, and welcoming! It’s a micro-village of love in the middle of paradise. I felt genuine kindness and warmth from everyone working here. There are palm trees and hammocks everywhere. Breakfast was delicious, served in the beautiful common space that’s covered but still open. And they have a water filter, so even the tap water is drinkable. Albatroz is the only place I’ve seen this so far in Brazil.
It was simply one of the best experience of our trip in Brazil. The hosts are amazing and make you feel at home immediately. It is a 5 stars service and it makes life so much easier on this island. we extended our stay twice and it was still not enough..
Not even mentioning that you are in the middle of a beautiful garden itself in the middle of the jungle.
The Pousada it self is just a perfect little jungle in Vila do Abraao, very quiet and peaceful place. They are focused on the hygiene, and the place is spotlessly clean. The rooms were decent size and very comfortable. Is almost in the middle of Abraao so very close to everything. Excellent value for the money. Keep going
Ilha Grande is a magic place, and this pousada is 5min walking from Abraao town and the dock where the boats arrive/depart. We stayed in a cabin (chalé) and it was cute, had everything we needed. Breakfast had variety of food and was served in the main building. You can borrow towels for the beach at reception.
The rooms are just a little further away from central Abraao making it a bit quieter. The views are amazing and the room was in great condition and very clean. There is a deck overviewing the harbor with a hammock to hang out in. This was a great choice. The hosts helped me book some of the tours as well.
best hostel staff ive met in three months of traveling. perfect chill vibes during the day and fun ones during the nights!! best Caipis Ive had by far!!! the staff helped with every small thing from lending us an avocado when cooking and more to booking us bus tickets.
The place is so beautiful and cozy and the staff were amazing and really welcoming. Another highlight is the breakfast and the restaurante Las Sorrentinas, which serves Argentinian pasta. The best I’ve ever had! Not to be missed!
The Pousada was amazing, the staff is super helpful, the rooms were very clean and gorgeous, the breakfast is great, they organized a tour for us, which I would highly recommend, all in all the best one could ask for!
Calming, tranquil, clean rooms, well decorated, good quality breakfast included in the price. A little out of Abraão centre, so very peaceful. Friendly staff and cats :)
The breakfast is incredible, the rooms are great, and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. You can book all boat tours through the hotel. 10/10
