Canto do Ile was the highlight of our trip to Brasil. The property is absolutely beautiful, and the way it's set up brings everyone together in the dining room to make it feel like a home. Everyone who worked there treated us like friends that they have known forever -- Lisa, Sergio, Fabiano, Emilia, Daniel, Leonardo, Maruscka and Rafael were so warm and had such excellent recommendations for us. We loved our diving experience with Sergio and Emilia's cakes and cookies were incredible. The historic center is a must-see town with amazing food and views, and the short bike ride into town was a great way to see more of Paraty.

Paraty is surrounded by emerald green forests attached to mountains that plummet directly into turquoise waters or white-sand beaches. The cobblestone streets and colonial houses of the city centre pay homage to its Portuguese roots, and accessible islands and secluded beaches lure the sun-seeking crowds.
White buildings decorated with colourful door arches and window surrounds line the small lanes of the historic old town. The 17th-century First Church of Our Lady of the Remedies watches over the shaded eastern meeting point of Matriz Square.
North of the canal are Pontal and Jabaquara beaches that are split by the Perpetual Defender fortress, built by the British in the 18th century. Hiring a boat will take you out to more remote islands like diving hot spot Ilha dos Meros or unspoilt Paraty-Mirim Beach, south of the city.
As part of Brazil’s Costa Verde coast, the nearby Gold Trail and Serra da Bocaina National Park highlight the native Atlantic forest and fauna such as the sloth.
Whether you are seeking a peaceful nature retreat, beachside guest house or city centre hostel, Booking.com has an option for you.
It’s a must see for any visitor or even Brazilian.
It’s a must see for any visitor or even Brazilian. A beautiful town with a historic center. The city has various nice restaurants (but usually quite pricy) and shops.
Since it’s not in the mountains, it’s easier to visit than for example ouro preto.

I think 1 or 2 nights is just right.
I think 1 or 2 nights is just right. It is nice to do a layover in Paraty because on the bus ride to and from (Rio/Sao Paulo) you can see quite a bit of the smaller towns and nature. If you did a bus direct from SP to Rio it would stick to the main highways and you wouldn't see as much. Worth a visit if you have time but keep in mind everything will be slightly more expensive as local tourists also like coming here. There are also lots of festivals so depending if you like festivals you could time your trip to coincide with one of them. During my stay there was a gastronomy festival which was pretty cool. They had cooking demonstrations and free samples of stuff.

Paraty is nothing more than a tourist trap and scam.
Paraty is nothing more than a tourist trap and scam. It is just 4 streets of colonial buildings with arrogant people. It is marketed extremely well as you believe that Paraty is a village of only colonial buildings however to our surprise they have added (obviously quite some time ago) more buildings and a bigger village the new town shall we call it. It is full of homeless people and danger the floor is disgusting and the people are intimidating. The supermarket is poorly built shed with insects everywhere and extremely overpriced. we left a day earlier than planned as we could not wait to escape the hell hole.

Paraty has a very smalll historical area. Unless you want to take a boat trip you can view the area in a couple of hours. The beaches in Paraty itself are not very nice for swimming but outside there are beautiful beaches and areas.

I love Paraty, and I always come back there.
I love Paraty, and I always come back there. The city is quaint, charm, small. The Historic Centre, old from the discover of Brasil, with stone streets. This year i went to the Bourbon Jazz Festival, and it was amazing. In Paraty there are delicious restaurants, ice cream shop (O Finlandês and Pistache best ones in my opinion). And i would like to have more time to go around with boat (I just did 1 tour with the boat)and I went to a trekking (pão de açúcar)- Ride to in Parati Mirim and from there 20 min by boat. Amazing
The accomodation was really nice and affordable. I felt so comfortable inside, everything was clean, smelled really good and had everything what I needed. There is also a sharing kitchen where you can make a food. The best accomodation in Brazil so far. The owners of the property are really kind and helpful. I was quiet confused about transportation around Paraty but they helped me. :) I also appreciate that they could speak english so the communication was easy.
Very nicely situated place - a small island of relaxation and comfort in the center of Paraty. We loved the city but always loved to come back to Literaria - the breakfast was wonderful, so was the pool - mostly we had it just for ourselves - a lot of space for not too many guests. Very familiar pousada, the front desk stuff was very helpful and arranged whatever we asked for perfectly - thanks for 5 wonderful days.
Gina is the owner and happens to be a very special lady. She takes care of absolutely everything - especially her lovely garden.
The hotel was extremely comfortable, super clean and rooms were spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breaksfast was top notch, with a wide variety of options ranging from cakes to fruits to free sugar and no gluten foods.
We loved the front desk staff and how helpful they were with booking tours in the area. We did a boating tour one evening with David and a tour to Trinidad and that was awesome. Walkability from this hotel to restaurants and
Shops in Historic Paraty is also great! Bed was comfortable and hotel was cute, we loved the pool table and pool.
We liked our stay at Pousada Ana Lua. The staff was great, made us feel very welcomed.
The location is also good, just outside the wall of the old center, one of the best places to stay.
The rooms are old but the new management is improving them with nice furniture and touches.
The breakfast was also decent, we liked it..
We got room 10 on the first floor with a balcony on the garden. A big room with King size bed.
Wonderful.
The Pousada is really beautiful, it has a private parking area very good breakfast and a super kind and friendly Staff.
The position is perfect: 3 minutes walking from the center of Paraty.
the hotel has a peaceful atmosphere, close to the restaurants and bars but distant enough not to hear the noise. staff is very helpful.
the hotel has luscious grounds with beautiful garden setting. this is our 2nd time and we are looking forward to our next visit.
My partner and I stayed in 5 different hotels/resorts in Brazil. This is by far the best one of you want a relaxing and recharging your experience. Gustavo, Flavio and Andresa will take good care of you and the whole staff will spoil you through your stay!
The Pousada had an amazing vibe, a unique patio and the most delicious breakfast. Everyone was super attentive and nice. It was a quick stay but so worth it! The location in the centro de Paraty was ideal to explore the city at night and during the day.
I am a frequent visitor to Paraty and I have stayed in over 20 different places. I like to try different venues but I have put Pousada Corsario Paraty on top of my favourite lists for the balance between. Cost vs Benefit ... it defines a good deal.
The hotel is located in the historical center of Paraty. We got a room close to the pool but it was not loud at all. It was not particularly big but comfortable and clean. Breakfast has a variety of options, including nice fresh juices and fruit.
Everything was perfect, breakfast is wonderful - so much to choose from, staff is professional and always available, pousada in general the best organized one I've stayed at in my Brazilian adventures, all the best about it!!
Carpe Diem does every little thing well in a big way. It’s an upscale option that captures the cozy oasis vibe - even if it’s not your main stay, definitely get a day or two here to give yourself a relaxing reset in Paraty.
Right in the centre of the historic town of Paraty. Really amazing courtyard with a pool, where breakfast is served. Room was really spacious (we were situation on the 1st floor).
The location is amazing, hotel is comfortable, we had the rooms with the balconies upstairs and it was really nice. it’s everything you can expect from a good Pousada.
this hotel was the best throughout our brazil trip ! the entire staff is amazing, the facilities perfectly clean and super location. would always come back
