This place had everything we needed to serve our purpose: an overnight stop on our way to Moremi Reserve. There was a communal kitchen that we could use, air conditioning in the room, and a TV, though we didn’t use it.

When you see distance to town center for hotels in Maun, don't be deceived like I was. Town center is a ratty 4 way stop, nothing you want to be too close to. There are a few places in Maun that may be OK but you have to do your research and they are spread out.

The only thing I didn’t like was my stay at 53 apartments guesthouse. Everything else was splendid. My highlight was the cuisine at Runway 08, a restaurant next to the airport. I also enjoyed an hr long boat cruise just behind Cresta Matlapana accompanied with good music, drinks and food (that we brought ourselves). It was a very affordable activity to partake in. The night life is also not too bad, there are quite a few chilled places like Cresta Matlapana & Il Pomodoro.

Maun is a great city nd the people was helpful and friendly.
Maun is a great city nd the people was helpful and friendly. We found everything we needed for example, safe drinking water, food and meat that meets the standard. The services was great for we were at Midas and found stuff there as well as Taurus batteries to fix a problem with my fridge, PG glass for a small windscreen crack and Spar for all our supplies.
Mac air for the flight over the delta!!!

Maun is the starting point to every trip to the Okavango...
Maun is the starting point to every trip to the Okavango Delta as it is where the airport and travel agencies are located, but the city itself has nothing of interest and sadly local people would try to make extra money by overcharging tourists, so I recommend to check all fares before visiting (taxi fares, any extra service and even souvenirs). In terms of wildlife, you might see some interesting birds in the Thamalakane River (like Goliath herons) but nothing compared to what the centre of the Delta has to offer.

Maun is not a destination in itself.
Maun is not a destination in itself. More transit from/to Okovango. Staying at the Waterfront and doing the helicopter over the delta and maybe some shopping, getting a PCR test. No reason to stay more than 1 day.

Its a unique place in its own rights and have quite multiple spots for camping and activities. You can enjoy scenic flights, game drives, boat cruise, up close contact with elephants and horse riding.
The game reserve is about 100km away on a road that gets bumpy particularly around rainy seasons so it would normally take 8 to 10hrs for the day trip. Have to be mentally prepared😊. There alternative is a night trip where you camp overnight in the game reserve.
The town has multiple fast eating spots and restaurants depending with your preference.
