Hopkins is a linear village maybe 7 miles long paralleling the sea. There are some high end resorts but local guest rooms predominate. Residents never failed to assist us in finding taxis, food stores or support services. The food was excellent whether it was consumed in a resturant, local bar or kitchen hut. Bicycles are very helpful in getting around. We found a really nice mix of folks. Don't miss the Garifuna music and food.

Hopkins is a small, rural town - one paved road that goes the length of the town plus a few unpaved roads. So, if you are looking for a small beach town with very friendly people, Hopkins may be for you. There is a good grocery store and several good dining options. Hopkins was a great home base for us for a few days as we explored a couple national parks in the area.

Peaceful, out of the way.
Peaceful, out of the way. Needed to rent a golf cart for greater variety of dining and grocery shopping but that is what our family likes. Very low key place. People are very kind and friendly. Quiet place to relax and enjoy the beach.

Hopkins Bay Smoky Bar & Grill (Barbara and Richard) were super kind! Maxim's gave us great deals too. Ella's and Driftwood were popular spots. Nice Cream was delicious. Rhum Shack at the resort were delicious. We could walk everywhere! We rented a car to get from BZE to Hopkins, which helped a lot so we could travel to other places.
Loot at Erik and Luis' Maayan Ruin/Cave Tubing on Viator (1:30 hour drive). I suggest Seahorse Dive Shop about 1:20 hours away for scuba diving/snorkeling, too.

The helpful and friendly staff made our stay enjoyable.
The helpful and friendly staff made our stay enjoyable. We always looked forward to the fresh catch of the day for dinner, especially the lobster Thermidor. My wife and I liked the closeness to the beach and pool and the size of the complex which was only 19 three unit buildings, and the ratio or staff to guests. We went on two excursions, one to the Mayan ruins and one horseback riding in the rain forest. Both were well worth the trip.

Too expensive with very little to offer.
Too expensive with very little to offer. This is good for people who plan to just chill and not do much. Go south (closer to the Jaguar Reef area) for better waters and restaurants, but be prepared to spend lots
Rosa in the office was very helpful and we appreciated her direction re: access to the beach nearby and reserving a taxi. Breakfast was very good and we were happy that it was included in the price. It was our first time in Hopkins and we didn't realize how far we were from town, but came to appreciate the quiet at night and the good restaurants nearby. We did walk into town and got the flavor of downtown Hopkins and enjoyed what local businesses had to offer.
Wonderful, kind staff. Room was great—clean with nice amenities. Hot water wasn’t working in my room, so they upgraded me for free to an Ocean Front suite. Great spot on the beach—lounge chairs and hammocks to relax under palm trees. A great restaurant on site with a few good restaurants in walking distance—or can borrow a free bike into the village (~15 min). Pool was a clean and a great temperature. Enjoyed everything about my stay!
The location was excellent. Very clean and the staff is the best! Angel the manager and Miss May the housekeeper are super nice and very helpful. My room was perfect in that I could sit right outside my room and have coffee watching the sun rise over the Sea. Very well laid out with gathering areas where I met some very special new friends!
Excellent place to stay, right on the beach. Hot water for showers, nice pool open 24/7, delicious complimentary breakfast, small fridge in our room, A/C, kayak use included with booking, friendly staff. The water was warm (we went in May) and fairly clear. We really enjoyed our time at Parrot Cove Lodge and would recommend the place.
The proximity to the beach and restaurants! SO many options right nearby. It was harder to get to the main bus drop-off but not impossible. There was also a bus that would come right to the village and taxis were always available and the staff was helpful in calling one for me. Loved my morning coffee too!
Nicely maintained guesthouse with friendly staff! The location is good. It is across from Play Bar and next to a good Filipino restaurant (Bahay Fiesta). My room was spacious and clean. I would stay again and I recommend it when visiting Hopkins / Sittee River.
A great Hostel with bunks, family and individual room. Well known in the area, had all you need for a backpacking/short stay. Very close to all that Hopkins has to offer.
As with most hostels, had some great chats with people from around the world.
probably the most complete information about the possibilities of activities and transport, compared to other hotels on our trip.
The owner's European precision and thoughtfulness of every detail, which the guest will appreciate.
pleasant terrace
nice size very clean rooms. great pillows!!! nice shaded area outside to lounge in. really close to great bars and restaurants within 1-2 minutes. close to great hiking and tubing only 30 min drive. and bikes to head into the village bars/eats.
Nice place with a nice and clean swimming pool. Kitchen has the most things you will need. To really make dinner the stofe is a but unpractical. You will need a lot of patience. Bathroom is good.
This place was great! across the street from the ocean, walking distance to many excellent bars and restaurants, it was clean and very quiet despite being very centrally located in Hopkins.
The grounds at this hotel are beautiful. The cottage was immaculate, and it had its own pool, which we lived. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The amenities they offer was great.
The room was a total winner, neat, clean and had everything we could have wanted. It was like a home away from home. The location was ideal and we enjoyed the privacy on the beach.
Hopkins Bay Resort was a great place to stay. The staff was nice and the hotel was in close to the village with a beautiful beach The facilities were clean and well cared for.
