Nanaimo is a cool little city. Depending on the goal of your trip renting a vehicle is recommended, since the city is spread out. As well there is much to see in surrounding areas. With the ocean, mountains and forest this community is surrounded by nature and beauty!

We had a great dinner at Firehouse Grill and fantastic coffee at Regards Coffee and the walk along the waterfront was nice but nothing super special, in all honesty it's kind of a dreary, quiet place that isn't very pretty. Maybe it has way more to offer than what meets the eye but I truly wouldn't care to stay there for more than a night passing through.

There was a couple of RATS outside by the pool but they stayed away from people. The hot tub wasn’t working either. But the pool was GLORIOUS and the room was clean to perfection. It was a nice place to sleep in!

I didn't see much of Nanaimo, just Petraglyph Park, before heading to Victoria. This side of Nanaimo was quiet, and I left very early. One great thing about South Nanaimo is its proximity to the Duke Point Ferry - a short drive. Also, the lack of nightlife meant my visit was quiet.
I would recommend visiting Petraglyph Park. It's not easy to find it, you have to be driving on the northbound side, but it's beautiful. I've enjoyed other aspects of Nanaimo in the past, especially the Woodgrove area, and I've found people there very friendly.

The ocean was the best part as there are many places to visit and the views are awesome. People were very friendly everywhere I went. The city is kept quite clean. Parks are nicely attended. Overall visit was very pleasant. Easy to get around having a vehicle as everything is very spread out. Piper's Cove and the harbor downtown were favorite.
I also asked for a quiet room. This did not happen. Had to ask for that. The room they put me in which was not what I paid for was an old room that was; Dirty, freezing ( I had to sleep in my sweat clothes), didn’t have the things it said it was to have not did the hotel have the things it said in the write up. When I tried to go over this when checking out the clerk just ignored me and started to do something else.
Great location, in a safer part of town. Very close to the ferry, pretty clean and great value for the money. Keycode entry makes checking in and out a breeze
Recently renovated and it shows! Without knowing what's on the other side of your door(the roadway), you could think you're in a 4 star hotel!
We will definitely choose this motel for our next stay in Nanaimo!
My room was very nice and exceptionally clean. I love the view. I also saw the chamber maid and her attitude was super friendly and welcoming. Her name was Pam. She told me if I needed anything please do not hesitate to ask. She had also left a nice message with her name. I have stayed at numerous hotels thru the years. She was one of the best I have met.
The place is clean. The room is very homey.
The Staff are Incredibly Friendly and Accommodating.
Bal, the concierge at that time has a warm personality, she is an Asset, I don’t know how the Hotel was able to find her.
I will Highly Recommend the Place, it’s at the center of the city at the waterfront.
Me and my fiance stayed at the Quality Inn in Nanaimo needing somewhere to stay in the city before heading up north on the island. Clean, friendly staff, great location, great shower, big bed. Can’t complain for a one night stay. I would stay here again over any other chain hotels in the city.
Nice, sparkling clean, modern hotel in Nanaimo’s historic Old City Quarter shopping area and a short walk to more amenities downtown. Great restaurant in the hotel (The Breakfast Nook) and close to several other nice restaurants (White Rabbit, Black Rabbit and Le Brunch Cafe).
The house was new with a huge terrace and an amazing ocean view. The hosts Shawn and Lili tried their best to make us feel welcomed and Indeed we felt like home.Thank you Shawn and Lili.If anytime soon in Nanaimo you are the first choice.
The location is pretty convenient to the downtown area, and it's about C$20 cheaper than 2* hotels with private rooms. The shared kitchen is nice for camaraderie but the stoves are in poor repair and the equipment (knives etc.) is crap.
The breakfast was well maintained and had good options for everyone in our family. There are many restaurant choices within walking distance of this hotel, and other shopping. The beds were comfortable.
Inexpensive and reasonably ok. It has A/C which most cheap hotels in Nanaimo do not have. Staff were friendly. It was clean but old and starting to get a bit run down.
The staff is amazing the hotel is beautiful, comfy and quiet. Central location to downtown. Next time I will get a room with a view of the ocean. That was my mistake.
The room was nice! It was an older hotel so exactly what was expected. Great location, super friendly staff. Close to the waterfront and local restaurants and pubs.
Best value in Nanaimo. Clean, spacious and well laid out room. Lots of plugs for charging devices. Great budget room within walking distance of downtown.
