Hamilton is a surprising city with a real mix of high culture (the art museum) and the gritty artifacts of its industrial past. Old Hamilton has a lot to do, see, eat, and drink, all walkable and with easy access to the GO Train. The Mountain (the Niagara Escarpment) is harder to access except by car, full of unhighlighted history and glimpses of a grand vista over Lake Ontario. The Bruce Trail and Dundas Valley Trails are accessible but you have to pay $11 to park. Newer homes and retail strip malls make this area seem like a suburb of Old Hamilton, with the escarpment as the natural barrier. As with all suburban areas, we got the impression that tourists were not welcome “Nothing to see here!” , a curious undervaluing of a novel bit of Ontario.

Hamilton is the best location to be able to access many attractions without paying very high prices and having large crowds when the day ends. Niagara Falls is just 30 minutes away and Toronto is just less than an hour. There is plenty of shopping and good restaurants. I have stayed in both Toronto and Niagara and found them to be very expensive for everything you do. It was far nicer to be a reasonable distance from both and be comfortable at a place between.

The global impression of Hamilton tends to be negative - and it is not deserved. We found the architecture to be wonderful, the people to be friendly and dining to be varied and generally very good (loved The Mule). We got lost walking one day and a gentleman actually drove us back downtown - over the top hospitality! The weather was very mild and the gardens were still in bloom - but we'd love to see more of it in the summer. Some of the key attractions were just not open, such as the air museum, or closed several days of the week, which was disappointing.

I was disappointed that most bars/restaurants were closed Sunday night. It was not easy to find something open where our group of friends could celebrate following a Grey Cup win. A BIG shoutout to The Cat ‘N’ Fiddle for being open that night. The city of Hamilton could do some things to beautify their city. I was only there for the Grey Cup but am definitely not drawn to go back for any other reasons.

Location was great and was reasonably priced.

Location was great and was reasonably priced. Parking in area is not good. 22 steps and no railings are not acceptable. "Ola" bakery next door was fantastic, owners was 1 in a million, so warm and outgoing. Don't find em like her and hubby very often. Even gave us freebees for the road when leaving. WOW!

Much of the city to the east of downtown had a run down and dilapidated feel about it. A number of restaurants seem closed or shut down and the number of places for drug rehabilitation and services for people with problems did not create the best impression. On top of the escarpment was a different world. The main reasons for our visit, The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum and HMCS Haida were very worthwhile and the waterfront parks were very pleasant.

Best room ever. Comes with a kitchenette with dishes, pans, hot plate (see pics). Huge pool and hot tub with mood lighting AND dry sauna! Big Samsung TV that works like at home. You can log in to Netflix, YT, etc. Just like at home. Wasn't expecting this place to have everything that it does. The kitchenette and fully-functioning TV is the cherry on top. I even used Smart View to stream a movie I had downloaded on my phone. No hotel I ever stayed in had a modern smart TV with all features enabled. 10000% recommend!

The room was very spacious and felt like it was newly furbished. There is a full kitchen, with all basic appliances/utensils needed. It is close to Albion Falls nature trails and some smaller waterfalls in the area. Easy to access from traveling in from Niagara. Great for free parking, as there is a big lot around the hotel. PS! They have a full pool and gym open till 11.00 pm.

Hotel attractive, well decorated and very clean. The reception ,cleaning, maintenance ,security and restaurant staff were all pleasant , friendly and helpful and welcoming. The restaurant menus was amazing. Of all the specials they served a variety of schnitzel, happened to our favourite food. Something you rarely see served, and haven’t had since our last trip to Germany!

My Son was telling me how much more space than a hotel room there was. The freedom to cook. It was clean and was quite. He was thankful that there are such great places to stay for business and have such privacy. As per Paul he was amazing and really do not want to recommend incase there is no vacancy next time. lol. Thanks again for being such wonderful hosts

Perfect location for our travel plans. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet despite being close to the road. We appreciated the list Visitor’s Inn provided of nearby restaurants and of other nearby neighborhoods with many dining and entertainment options. I wish we could have stayed longer to explore more of Hamilton. We’ll definitely be back!

Clean, spacious, convenient and quiet location. Short distances (5-15min) to Service Canada, Walmart, Tims, malls in Hamilton. Good sized bathroom, daily house keeping, helpful front desk staff. Desk and lamp in the room is nice to be able to work remotely. 15-50min drive to Oakville and Mississauga areas.

Everything was fantastic other than the $200 price. Could have been a bit cheaper but over all it was definitely one of the best hotels Ive stayed at. Definitely deserves a better rating than the 3 star rating it had.

It was a well-equipped unit with a full kitchen and a good supply of dishes. It is well located if you are visiting east Hamilton but a bit far from downtown (about a 35 minute walk). The bed was very comfortable.

The breakfast was amazing! Probably the best complimentary breakfast that I've had at a hotel. I wanted to park close to the door because I didn't like the idea of walking too far by myself outside at night.
