Very safe, clean, driving not an issue, many to see and do and surprisingly inexpensive. Buchart Garden is a must see. Having tea time or a little bite with a glass of wine at the Empress is a great experience. Driving along the Fisherman's Wharf up.to those beautiful homes and communities is a great feeling.....positive thoughts in life.

What were your favorite spots?
What were your favorite spots? Use to be along Dallas Rd. and was so proud Dallas Rd. allowed dogs to walk along with their owners but now they are segregated to a muddy field. Where did you eat? So many places and atmospheres to choose from, from ethnically infused restaurants to funky places. Awesome place for breakfast is "John's Place" and if you're celiac "Six Mile Pub". Is getting around Victoria easy? Driving down town is a test of your patience. Lights stop you every second block, left turns jam up traffic flow to traffic jams caused by crammed streets made worse with bike lanes also impact parking. What would you avoid next time? down town > Use to be that Victoria was like a shiny penny but that is no longer the case. Street are not clean and the city no longer caters to the average visitor, instead the street people and beggars rule the roost. Speaking to other they feel the same which even includes those who live there. One resident stated they never go downtown because of the filth and harassment. So sad, because I was one of the biggest cheerleaders for Victoria.

I have the benefit of being a tourist as well as a former resident of Victoria. I know where to go to maximize my visits, which often take place in the winter months as a way to escape the cold and snow at home. On that note, February is a great time to experience Vancouver Island because the flowers are beginning to bloom. Victoria is a lovely city to walk around, but I would highly recommend heading up-island if you have time and explore more of the island. It's stunningly beautiful everywhere you look!

Victoria is a lovely safe easy capital city.
Victoria is a lovely safe easy capital city. Lots to do and good restaurants. My favourite restaurant is Nubo.
Use your phone to drive around and take the weird short cuts as they are so much fun.
BC ferries are amazing for what they do but are also far from perfect and it pays to take a little time to understand their system. Get a reservation and keep it as simple as you can.
Victoria is a great weekend visit but if you are from farther away there are other fantastic and close destinations. Either on the famous west coast but also on the easier east coast of Vancouver Island.

Beautiful city , great “A Day of Hockey in Canada”...
Beautiful city , great “A Day of Hockey in Canada” celebration , restaurants are expensive ,but lots of them. We dined at the Keg , perfect waterfront view . Best Macarons ever in a shop called Bon macarons . Easy to walk everywhere, clean safe city .
This hostel was the cheapest option which I found for our last minute trip to Victoria. For such a price I didnt expect much, but have to say that for 1night it was ideal. Very close to downtown, walkable to beach and Beacon park. It is maybe 1-2min from the bus station from a ferry terminal. I didnt expect much from breakfast and the dinner but the pasta dinner was pretty cool and breakfast was nice too. The only negative thing was the hair on a bedlinen, other than that the room was clean and also the shared washroom.
Coming from the Yukon we are more Bushed than Bourgeois, I wanted a historical accommodation where we felt welcome and comfortable. The Dashwood delivered in every way. We loved our room, fresh cookies, and vegetarian breakfast at our request. Close enough to walk into the tourist shopping area, yet not right in the city so quieter than downtown properties. The staff were friendly and super helpful. We will definitely return on future Victoria trips!
i have lived in victoria for 20 years and know this property well ,if you want to go downtown its 15 mins in a car or taxi, the hosts are great the bedrooms more than adequate ,better than staying in a downtown hotels,i will now forget the downtown hotels with cramped rooms and little views ,this is the best way to see all of downtown out of your bedroom window .
I stayed with my family for 2 nights and 3 days. It was a beautiful house, a quiet and friendly neighborhood. I was surprised by the condition of the accommodation that was better than I expected and had a happy time. It was the best location to travel to downtown in 20 minutes. If you are going to Victoria, I recommend you to stay at this accommodation.
Extremely clean room, very friendly and welcoming staff and amazing location in downtown victoria. The parking was free the night that I stayed there and it was close by to the hotel. Wish I remembered the names of the front desk staff when I arrived. They were exceptional and made me feel like I was checking into a family home!
Friendly staff. The room was nice, clean and had 2 Queen beds. It had a coffee maker with coffee, sugar, cream, micro wave, fridge, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. The Hotel is located downtown by the Empress Hotel, surrounded by restaurants, bars, places to browse and shop. Walking distance to everything.
We had a corner suite room which was large and had good facilities. The room was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed for a one night stay. The hotel was well positioned to explore downtown harbour area of Victoria. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
It was 15 minutes from downtown Victoria and the price is one of the cheapest we could find. The place is clean and the person at the reception was able to change us from a 2 single bed to a queen size bed (as we requested but nobody answered).
The location was easy to find, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room and seating parlour were exceptional as well as the breakfast nook area. It was a perfect location for walking to all the best downtown attractions in Victoria.
We enjoyed having the hotel location near downtown and the harbor of Victoria. Loved the complimentary kitchenette. We only found out later, during check out , that there was on the premises a self serve guest laundry facility.
If you are in Victoria, B.C. without a vehicle this apartment is the ideal location. Walking distance to shopping, great restaurants, and sights such as Royal B.C. Museum, Empress Hotel, walking paths on waterfront.
This hotel is excellent value for Victoria. The location is ideal located behind the Royal Museum and close to the James Bay neighbourhood. A lot of the rooms are quite large and have good sized kitchenettes.
Beautiful hotel with amazing staff!! We were able to leave our luggage while we visited Victoria. They also treated our little Lola (dog) to a treat and made her feel welcome. thank you!
Beautiful historical hotel within walking distance to many downtown Victoria attractions. Staff is very friendly and helpful and rooms are clean and well furnished.
Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Great location and close to downtown Victoria.
Walkway at Gorge waterway was really close and pleasant to walk.
