We did a wonderful walking tour with an excellent guide which gave us a great overview of the city. We highly recommend taking a walking tour.
We loved everything about the Old Town. It was raining some of the time we were there and the beautiful arcades kept us dry.
We were lucky to be there when they had the light show on the Parliament Building which was magical. Hotel Akomo Bern was a very short walk to the Parliament Building.
We had dinner in two excellent restaurants - one Italian and one Swiss.

Bern is such a lovely city, especially the older part.
Bern is such a lovely city, especially the older part. The older streets with the arcades are amazing to wander about. Free public transport is such a good idea and allows you to explore further, such as Gurten, which is a really nice area to go for a walk. The walk along the Aare River is also lovely and can be done at any time of the year. There is a brilliant mix of city life and nature. Plus the Swiss chocolate is always good.

Chirstmas ambiance at Bern was really great.
Chirstmas ambiance at Bern was really great. Christmas market (chalet with Fondue) was nice too.
Also, in summer time, don't forget to swim in the Aare river (strong current can hold/push you). Go to Marzili Platz to enjoy it.
Really funny (requires some swim skills of course, not for babies/beginners).

Excellent place to ride a bike or take a walk. If you prefer public transportation look no further:) Bern, and Switzerland in general has excellent railway system.
Many things to do in the summer (I recommend floating down the river Aare).
In Winter if you are fond of skiing Canton of Bern offers many ski resorts in Swiss alps.

Bern is beautiful!
Bern is beautiful! We had two days there, and it was enough, but I know there are some activities just out of town if you want to stay a little longer. We recommend it for couples, families with kids and even solo travelling. The city is just perfect.

From where we are staying which is very much in the heart of the city, is very metropolitan. Heavily populated but safe. There are lots of restaurants and shops around. Trams and buses are accessible wherever you want to go. Trains are all running on schedule as all Swiss trains do. Bern is small but it has its own charms and the people are helpful and friendly. Nice place to visit.
Nice hotel located across from the train station. I usually do not choose hotels near a city train station. Bern and the Schweizerhof is an exception. Bern is working hard to become a car-free city and while its train station is a fair-sized connector throughout Switzerland and Europe, it was not crowded, noisy, or dirty. Our room was small but had everything we needed. The bathroom was large with a shower and bathtub. Separate WC. The staff attentive and accommodating. This hotel definitely seems to cater to business people.
We liked that we could check-in early. The location is perfect especially for those arriving by train.
We loved the kitchen - it has everything including tea, coffee, milk, orange juice and various types of muesli, and also two ovens and a lot of dishes, pans, pots, etc.
We liked that we could leave the luggage but unfortunately there was not a special place for it and theoretically it could be taken by other guests (this point actually should be safe in Switzerland :) ).
The hotel is conveniently located, great set of restaurants all around. The staff is simply wonderful and I cannot stop raving about them. Right from checkin to support provided to fix our baggage handle issue was outstanding. Similarly when we connected with the reception to be able to heat some food and she was so very helpful. I must say that this was the best service that I experience in all of my 15 days stay in Switzerland. The bed sheets were always crispy white.
Easy to get to from the train. Room was ready early! The hotel owner gave exceptional service. Our son had an accident while playing when we were out for the day and needed urgent care services. The owner personally drove us to the hospital and stayed with us for three hours to help translate and to make sure all was ok. This was above and beyond his job and we are extremely grateful. I highly recommend the location to anyone traveling through Bern.
Immaculate, really well appointed apartment with excellent kitchen, super bathroom and super comfy living area. Lovely bed, great decor and 200m from bus stop into the city. If you register your overnight stay, you are entitled to free public transport in and around the city. Brilliant!
Aldi 70 metres from hotel, so great for eating in if you want. Bern is a beautiful, relaxed, gorgeous city with lots to see. A delightful stay.
I am always happy to stay at the Marthahaus Hotel, but this time, I was even more excited by such a welcome surprise. As I mentioned before, the staff at the Marthahaus Hotel is friendly and has an amazing attitude.
The WIFI signal was strong, and the coffee machine made excellent coffee. Daily, I enjoyed the Hotel breakfast and the free Bern Mobile tickets.
Our pet was welcomed in the room, it was small but with a playful design that allowed us to be comfortable. We had a room in the last floor and the views were great, we had a horse training facility right in front of us. We could park our car for free and were given free passes for the tram. The price was very fair considering it is Switzerland.
The location is in a quiet area. the hotel is very technology oriented and have remotes for most things.
The hotel has a free parking and local tourist authorities provide free public transportation tickets for the length of your stay.
The room/bed is very comfy and we slept wonderfully good.
We will return there on our next trip to Bern.
The hotel is very nice, new, spotless clean and comfortable. Breakfast is delicious (standard choices but good quality); staff are very nice - I asked for a room on a higher floor and they moved me on L4 where I seemed to be the only one, so it was very quiet. Overall very good hotel and decent price for Switzerland.
Hotel Savoy is in an excellent location - in Bern Old Town and literally 3 min walk from the Hauptbahnhof. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops are in a short walking distance. Rooms are freshly refurbished, very clean with comfortable beds. Breakfast selection is fairly standard, but sufficient and good quality.
Mara Folie was outstanding. She helped us find the hotel when our Waze app failed to give proper directions. She provided the best customer service, gave us recommendations of what to see, where to eat and the best tasting chocolates in Bern. Would go back again because of her! ❤️
The hotel is located in the center of Bern with good breakfast. The staff were lovely and helpful. The room was very nice, cozy and well decorated. I really enjoyed staying here and definitely if there is a chance I will come back and stay here again.
Clean room, basic modern hotel with underground parking available (for a fee) and a supermarket next to it. Not far from Bern city center, it’s a convenient choice if you have a car.
Well located, walking distance from the railway station and city center. Reasonable price for Switzerland. Able to book at short notice after change in travel plans.
