Went mid October and weather can be a factor. Wanted to get a tour of volcano and park rangers closed the road due to deep snow. Rest of town was nice to walk and stroll around. People were very friendly and helpful.

Very beautiful city and surroundings. There are a lot of places and natural wonders to visit, any tourist would be impressed. Puerto Varas has a rich history which would amaze any curious mind. I arrived by bus since there are no flights between intermediate cities in Chile and it was very disappointing to find out that there is no proper bus terminal. My bus arrived at 5 am and we had to sit in the floor until a taxi appeared and he took us to the only 24h store in the city, which would only sell through a small window. We had to sit down again on the floor until the sun came out.

Most beautiful city of Chile so far! Convenient transport from the Airport, very beautiful lake view of the volcano, felt safe. Much better place to stay than Puerto Montt, if you are deciding between those two.

This is a gorgeous city, surrounded by so many things to do.
This is a gorgeous city, surrounded by so many things to do. You can go ski to the Osorno Volcano and spend a full day there. Saltos del Petrohue are so beautiful that you can stay half day there. And going south to Chiloé is something you need to do.

The location is also very close to the meeting point where we need to take the Andean Lake Crossing early in the morning from Puerto Varas to Barilochi. Hotel front desk staff is pretty good, especially the gentleman who speaks English. He was extremely helpful and gave us a lot of good suggestions. The included breakfast is also very good.
