This hotel is spectacular - the staff are so friendly and attentive, the facilities are lovely and very clean. The rooms are spacious and are of a very nice design. The courtyard and common areas are so relaxing, and the restaurant is absolutely delicious!! The breakfasts in the morning are very generous and fresh too. Would highly recommend to stay here. We tried a couple of other restaurants in vicuna but by far this was the best! Great value for money.

Located directly at the Elqui river, we received the tent with windows in the roof to see the stars at night. Unfortunately, the tent is placed below a tree…
The place also offered globe tents with huge windows.
Each tent has a separate private bathroom.
Great breakfast!
An open community kitchen to prepare food is available.

Great location in this small town, an easy stroll to many restaurants and to the main plaza. Helpful staff person let us check-in early. Pleasant central courtyard and small pool at the back with loungers available. Our room was on the main floor which we appreciated. Felt very safe and comfortable. Suited us perfectly for one night. Breakfast was okay but served with a smile.

Leela and Rodrigo were so helpful and friendly. They gave us so much info about where to go and what to do. Did our washing at very reasonable rate and even had bicycles to hire. Lovely garden and facilities!

Lovely spot in Elqui Valley and very much worth a visit.
Lovely spot in Elqui Valley and very much worth a visit. However, be forewarned if you are not fluent in Spanish and are going for stargazing. We went to the observatory and planetarium and were disappointed to find no English explanation anywhere at all. Nada. My Spanish wasn't good enough to derive much comprehension or pleasure from the narrator's talk on the night sky, as amazing as it was to see. Chileans have a distinctive accent that drops syllables and speak very fast. The guide showed no concern or mercy, unlike most other Chileans we met who slowed down, repeated words, etc. Another bilingual tourist tried gamely to keep us informed.
I did NOT expect much English to be spoken in Chile, of course, but I'd hoped/expected that a tourist attraction with an international reputation would be different. Weeks before we travelled we emailed to ask if there was any English offered and never received a reply. Btw, there was plenty of English in various museums we visited in Santiago and an English audiotour at Neruda's incredible Isla Negra home. More annoying at the observatory tho' was that after the stargazing the whole audience was herded to an area where people were exhorted to buy corny souvenir photos. Unluckily for us, the strangers who shared our van up to the mountain top opted for the pix and we waited 75 minutes in the van til they showed up. Even the driver was fed up but he seemed unable to figure out what to do.

It is a small town with character. You can reach the whole area if you rent a car, and enjoy places like the Artisan Market of Horcón, some of the Pisco distilleries, historical sites, etc. Tons of places to eat around the town Square with excellent food and ice cream. Our stargazing tour in Mamalluca Observatory was excellent. The Gabriela Mistral Museum is informative, easy to follow, and at the best international level.

Vicuña is not much of a destination by itself, but has shops and restaurants clustered around a central plaza. I recommend staying there as a base for exploring Elqui Valley. I suggest a few days in Vicuña for the vineyards and other valley sights, and a couple of days in a beachfront hotel in La Serena before departing.

Charming town in a lovely area.
Charming town in a lovely area. There is a micro brewery and restaurant in town with top quality IPA on offer by the jug and excellent pizzas. The (motorcycle) ride up the valley to Pisco Elqui is very pleasant passing through small villages. A glass of Pisco Traditional (I think that was it, lemon and sugar anyway) at the restaurant on the square went down a treat.

One of the bigger towns in the beautiful Elqui Valley,...
One of the bigger towns in the beautiful Elqui Valley, Vicuna is a good base from which to explore the area. I would probably choose Pisco Elqui as a base if I were to go back, though -- it's more quaint, and you can visit the main pisqueras without having to drive afterwards (an important consideration, since a vehicle is necessary to explore the area). Key attractions / activities include the Gabriela Mistral museums and mausoleum, astronomy tours, pisqueras (Pisco distilleries), hiking, mountain biking, and even windsurfing in the nearby reservoir. The setting in between mountains is breathtaking. If you're into craft beer, don't forget to visit the beergarten at the Guayacan Brewery in Diaguitas (4 km away from Vicuna).
We loved everything and the beds and sheets were spotless and very comfortable. I was very appreciative when I lost my PDI emigration card, the lovely staff accepted my request to ask for a copy to be emailed to me several days later. They were very prompt and so kind as the next hotel I stayed in would have charged me local tax if I did not provide it. Thank you so much for a lovely stay
the location, hospitality, rooms, cleanliness and facilities were all amazing! and all the outdoor areas are lovely. the staff were exceptional. one of our group was really unwell during our stay and they helped us get medical help and extend our stay with no fuss - they genuinely care about their guests and gave great advice about visiting Vicuña. thank you hostal Michel!!
Campo de Cielo is a hidden paradise in the middle of the desert, a true gem near Vicuña. Max, the owner, has crafted everything on his own, resulting in an original and authentic haven with enchanting boho vibes. A must-stay experience that captures the essence of tranquility and creativity!
Very cozy and nice property. Our room was super clean and well decorated, I would say a hotel not a hostel. Breakfast was delicious! Few blocks from the main square and the neighborhood is very calm. The administrator was very helpful in tips and supported us with the arrangement of tour.
Beautiful hostal (more like a Hotel, really..) with incredible hosts. breakfast was complete and very tasty! rooms are super nice and free private parking too. Hosts Dafne and Juan Cristóbal are beautiful human beings and go
above and beyond for their guests. Super happy!
Lovely place in the sweet town vicuña. We stayed four days. It is close to the main plaza and all the restaurants. The apartment is perfect for two people. It is very spacious and has a neat interior. We enjoyed it a lot!
Very welcoming staff/host and grounds are very relaxing and comfortable. Short walk to the center of town. They gave some excellent recommendations on what to see and do locally. Would stay again if I return to Vicuña.
Very comfortable and tranquil stay in beautiful Vicuna. Great breakfast selection. Super helpful staff! We also paid extra for the jacuzzi, which was perfect after a day of biking - moon and stars were out!
Everything about this hotel was perfect. Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds, delicious on-site restaurant, and the pool and hot tub were a dream. They had laundry services available as well.
Lovely hotel in a great central location with walking distance to the center of town. Decent sized room, good breakfast with quality local ingredients. Friendly and helpful staff. Secure parking.
Very nice hosts. Amazing stargazing opportunities right in front of our room. Great location to visit Vicuña and the Valle del Elqui while avoiding the big crowds
