A great (very windy) city at the end of the world.
A great (very windy) city at the end of the world. Close to breathtaking scenery (Tierra del Fuego, Torres del Paine) and historical sites. The city felt secure. The fish market offers amazing good value dishes (no vegan options:(). There are good walks close to the city (a national park 15 minutes by car). Punta Arenas is easy to navigate on foot if the weather permits - the wind can bowl you over!!!

Punta Arenas is a nice town.
Punta Arenas is a nice town. But don't expect too much of it. It has really fantastic, great coffee places. And very good restaurants, actually it is amazing that there are so many nice restaurants and so many great coffee shops in such a small town. Apart from that, it is a small town. Don't get me wrong: it is the *town* to be if you want to be at the Strait of Magellans!

Punta Arenas had more to do than I expected!
Punta Arenas had more to do than I expected! I had heard from others that it was a sleepy residential town, but we enjoyed walking along Playa Colon, walking up to Mirador Cerro de la Cruz, shopping for handmade gifts at the Municipal Artesanal Market, petting the community dogs at the Plaza de Armas, touring Cerveceria Austral (reservations needed in advance), going on one of the penguin and sea lion tours, and eating authentic classic Chilean food at La Marmita restaurant. If we had more time, we would've visited some of the nearby museums to learn more about Magellan's sail through the strait. We loved that Ubers were quick and plentiful but that the town was very walkable just about anywhere.

The center of town is quite a distance from the airport.
The center of town is quite a distance from the airport. Punta Arenas is good for a jumping off point to explore Patagonia. For birders, there is a great e-Bird hot spot just out of town towards the airport.

It is an amazing place to visit.
It is an amazing place to visit. There are so many things to do, especially if you compare it with the homologous city in Argentina, Ushuaia. I was from Sunday to Friday, and it was not enough to do more trekkings, namely the Glaciar or around the Strait of Magallanes. I highly recommend staying in Punta Arenas for around two weeks and programme as many trips as possible before. I was not able to do the trip to Puerto Williams, because it required 30 hours on a ship. There are only ideas in my opinion.

Punta Arenas is a wonderful town.
Punta Arenas is a wonderful town. It is full of history and is very safe and welcoming to tourists. It is very windy, so wrap up warm, but anyone goin g to southern Chile should pay it a visit (and if you are not going to southern Chile, why not? It is amazing and you should book a visit immediately).
It’s hard to explain the magic and tranquility of this place…. It’s remote, with beautiful views, amazing host - Isabella - who is more like your sister or aunt taking care of you, dogs, alpacas, horses…. We had a suite with a private patio which was absolutely stunning, and had everything you need. If you come with kids or friends there are also few options of connected rooms.
Entire place is beautifully furnished and decorated which makes you feel like home.
If I’m ever in Chile again - I’ll be back!
Very uncomplicated stay, clean room and bathroom, the best (very tasty and filling) breakfast I got in Chile so far (and I've got many), felt very welcome. The place is well organized, staff proactive and friendly. Side note: I was dump enough to leave quite some money and the staff gave it back to me (in a very professional mannel and with safety questions:)) when I came to pick my luggage left for storage. Seems like an obvious gesture but it really isn't. I appreciate honesty
The location of the hotel is perched up on the hill overlooking everything with a beautiful view. The staff is incredible. Valentina was so hospitable in welcoming us and helping us settle in. The staff was incredibly flexible and accommodating, and they were so helpful with even the simplest of requests. The rooms are gorgeous, clean, and cozy. The restaurant on-site is one of the best places we have eaten in all of Chile and Argentina. You can’t go wrong with this stay!
They were very helpful and flexible in responding to our requests. we changed the dates several times and they always found a solution.
The rooms are small and you can hear everything (it is a prefabricated structure, like almost all in Punta Arenas), but it is quite functional, with a private bathroom and a preset TV with Netflix and Prime.
The location is good compared to the center, reachable on foot in 10 minutes.
Nice private room and bathroom has hot water! The kitchen is big enough and they provide free coffee/tea. It is not a hotel or hostel, but literally a little house for different people so take that into account. The owner is also really nice, he even let me stay a little longer for the day and drove me to the harbour when it was time to go. He also wanted to give me a tour of Punta Arenas, very nice guy.
I loved the location, right on the Punta Arenas waterfront - good birding and very scenic! The staff were friendly and very helpful, assisting us with our multiple bookings and helping us print out critical documents for travel within Chile. I appreciated the in-house restaurant, both for breakfast and dinner. Having coffee and tea available outside dining hours was also much appreciated.
The hostel was a super cute little hostel ran by two sisters who were just amazing! One of them stayed up till 2:30 am to wait for me to arrive and in general they took so good care of the people there. Breakfast was also very good and beds were so comfortable! I will definitely choose this hostel again when I go back to Punta Arenas in the end of my trip!
The room was very nice - bathroom was clean, and it was great to have the kitchenette and sitting area as a place to relax. The hotel is centrally located, close to the bus terminal, groceries, and restaurants. The breakfast was delicious and the host was able to arrange for a taxi to the airport. Highly recommend
The hotel is centrally located. You can walk everywhere; to museums, and many more attractions. Specially to many restaurants that serve delicious food (we loved the seafood in Punta Arenas). The lady at the front desk was more that helpful with us. She made our experience at the hotel really memorable.
The staff were excellent. Late check-in was not an issue, and arrangements were made for a ahuttle from the airport that was very reasonable cost wise. It is very centrally located and near Bus Sur, which was convenient for traveling on to Torres del paine. It was a great spot to spend one night.
My partner and I recently stayed for 6 nights here and felt comfortable throughout our stay. It is a small apartment that is well equipped with a nice garden area in a pleasant residential area close to the centre of Punta Arenas and all amenities. The host Alejandro was friendly and helpful.
The staff at Hotel Albatros were wonderful. They helped us reschedule following a flight delay and also helped us book a tour to see the nearby penguins. The hotel itself was beautiful. The hotel was very clean, and beds were extremely comfortable!
Wonderful host, very helpful. Excellent breakfast. Bed comfortable on par with four star hotel. Nice break for someone flying in late to Punta Arenas and driving north or being picked up from there.
Super nice host with lovely common room that feels like a living room at home. Simple place that's very cozy. Host prefers you to pay in Chileano Pesos.
