The hotel is located in a good spot right next door to a 1st class "western" mall. As a westerner i found this to be the most pleasing and familiar feel good factor being next to a mall. The hotel itself is just like any other holiday inn or garden court hotel you would find in rest of the world, clean, modern and comfortable. Rooms are standard depending on the type of room you select. Rooms are fully airconditioned, water pressure is great, bathrooms are modern and well equipped with the basics. I did find the same day express laundy service severely over-priced, We, paid $120 for 6 small clothing items. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Most of the staff are equipped with mobile phones that have translator apps already installed in order to communicate with non-chinese speaking guests. Swimming pool access requires full swimming costume and mandatory swimming cap. Gym equipment is basic and does the job for a quick workout. Overall it was a pleasant stay and i would recommend a stay.

Breakfast buffet was great. Huge amount of choices and great view from the 49th floor. The lounge on the 48th floor was really nice. With nice drinks and a delicious buffet. The staff throughout the hotel were lovely and very helpful.

I liked the help and interaction with the lobby staff and also the staff who assisted me at breakfast answering all my questions and were absolutely professional and lovely people to be associated with. I would like to highlight Vivien at the front desk and Ding Juan who were both extremely helpful and made my stay so much more enjoyable.

The hotel is a little 'blingy' but very well done and of high quality!

stayed at ancient town, very convenient for food. But bear in mind cars not allowed in ancient town, accommodation send luggage carts. Communication in chinese important as they meet you somewhere at the entrance and bring you in with your luggages. No breakfast where I stayed but as early as 7am, shops for breakfast are opened. Need local sim card to get around by Didi. Need an app in english but couldn't get translation. Thankfully spouse could read chinese, did all the ride hailing and maps in chinese. If there was an app in English, would help non speaking/reading chinese. Suggest use a reputable tour company for private tours and plan everything if you can't use mandarin.

Mostly everything was good!...
Mostly everything was good!... I agree it's a five star hotel. What it wasn't so great is that the staff in general doesn't show to be HAPPY!... It's unusual to see SMILES!!!... Also, there's some mosquitos and a few flies around. Hahaha...

It's a laid back city.
It's a laid back city. Slower pace than the other metropolises. I went in May and the weather was beautiful. It's a walkable city but I highly recommend using the Chinese APPs to rent e-bikes. It's the best way to see the city. That's pretty much what I did for my four days there. For local restaurants, get some good recommendations from the staff where you are staying. If you want some good Western food, Salvador's is a good option. Also, Wooden Paradise a good cocktail bar with cheap happy hour deals and a friendly owner. Juan'er is a great cafe that uses Yunnan beans. I didn't visit any special sights, except for Green Park, which is your standard big city park, so I can't comment on them.

Kunming is a non-touristy town that people often pass through. This is such a pity because we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful parks, the calm atmosphere of the locals playing cards and games, the cute cafes, and the interesting restaurants. Kunming has everything you need but it is toned down compared to other Chinese cities which is what we wanted as we live in Guangzhou. Salvador’s restaurant is a must visit as is Humdinger for a local craft beer. Did I mention that the weather is perfect? It is known for being a city of ‘eternal spring’ for its gorgeous weather.

Unfortunately, my stay was only for one night (layover). My wife told me Kunming was an exceptionally pleasant and scenic place to be, and from what I saw from my limited time on the ground and the from the plane's window, it looks it. I am definitely going back!

Kunming in the middle of winter was a great place to visit.
Kunming in the middle of winter was a great place to visit. Days were sunny and mainly dry. Lots if interesting places to visit in and around the city. Western Hill is only a RMB4 subway ride from the city centre and an excellent place to spend a day. Nationalities village is a good place to understand the culture of the different ethnic groups. The Stone Forest and nearby caves is a gret place for a day trip. Further afield is the Dongchuan red land and the Jiaozi Snow Mountain. There are a good range of halal restaurants in the city.
What an absolutely wonderful place. The lovely owner picked me up from the airport and took me back. His communication beforehand was excellent. What a cool guy. The actual hotel is in an idyllic quaint and friendly village. Everything was amazing. I was giving a beautiful bowl of noodles for breakfast, honestly the best noodles I've ever had. My room was so funky. So much thought has gone into this place for comfort. I did not want to leave and I hope to return. Thank you for everything.
We stayed at Kunming Upland international Youth Hostel for four nights and it was a very pleasant stay.
The rooms were big enough and the bathroom was also nice.
There is a nice pub/restaurant where you can have your meals that offers both local food and international food.
It is very close to the town centre and to one of the most important and beautiful parks in Kunming.
In general we really enjoyed our stay and would like to go back in case we go back to Kunming.
Clean, comfortable and peaceful, this is a great spot to stay in if you need to be near the airport. The host is also willing to cook for you, there is a small restaurant and she made me some vegetarian food. The room was so cozy and peaceful, the perfect ending to a long day of traveling. The hosts offer free airport transfers, and picked me up even when my flight was delayed by several hours.
We only stayed one night so didn't get to see/use many of the facilities. The bed was so comfortable and warm. Strong shower and good wifi. A fair way from the city centre however a metro line (Line 1) is nearby. Limited English spoken by staff however they did try their best to respond to questions. The hotel also gave us a free shuttle to Kunming South Railway station, a 15 minute drive.
We were upgraded to a large room that had separate living and bedroom areas, both with attached toilets.
During check-in, we were served by a pleasant, wonderful front desk executive.
Hotel is a 5 minute cab ride/15-20 minute walk to the railway station.
Amenities such as bedroom slippers, towels, bath soap and shampoo were all provided.
Rosa was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a quiet location with a beautiful courtyard. They offer breakfast, beers and brought us complimentary iced coffee and homemade juice when we arrived. We were looking for somewhere to stay the night before our flight, and this place exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend.
The location of the hotel is convenient if travelling from Kunming South Station, however not really at walking distance (you will need to take the metro or a taxi if you travel from Kunming South Station early in the morning to Laos for example).
Very clean and new hotel. Good room, good facilities, very comfortable stay. The swimming pool was nice, although there was nobody there when I went swimming, even no lifeguard the whole time.
Beautiful, stylish hotel in a perfect location for exploring Kunming on foot or by bike. many restaurants, cafes and on the same street. We have enjoyed our stay very much!
