Holiday Inn Nanjing Aqua City, an IHG Hotel, hotel in Nanjing

Located between the Confucius Temple area and Xinjiekou commercial district, Holiday Inn Nanjing features a gym, a swimming pool and rooms with internet access.

The location is very great. Very close to Fuzimao station metro line 3 and Sanshanjie station metro line 1. The metro line in Nanjing is very good and helps us to access to any interesting tourist places such as Dr Sun Yat Sen Mausoleum and Ming DynastyTomb in line 2 stop at Muxuyuan or xiamafang station; memorial hall of the victims in nanjing massacre in line 2 stop at yunjin lu station ; central business district in line 1or 2 stop at xinjiekou station; xuanwu lake in line 1 stop at xuanwumen station. The very famous Confucious/Fuzimiao temple night street is 10 minute walking distance from the hotel. In the street there are lots of restaurants offer special food like roast duck, beef noodle soup The receptionists were very helpful and could speak English. Special thanks to the man who helped us to check-in, upgraded our room to big suite room. We also thank to Yulia Lin who helped us to check-out and booked the taxi to Dr Sun Yat Sen Mausoleum. The Chinese and Western buffet breakfast was very good and there were so many variety of food. We really enjoyed staying at the hotel. We definitely will stay at this hotel again when we come to Nanjing.

The Ritz-Carlton, Nanjing, hotel in Nanjing

Situated in Nanjing and within 3.5 km of Confucius Temple, The Ritz-Carlton, Nanjing has a bar, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi throughout the property.

The Ritz Carlton in Nanjing is a wonderful structure. The hotel is just amazing, and the staff extremely kind and attentive. Our room was at a high floor and the view we had on the city was stunning at night. The room itself was huge, with sophisticated furniture and decorations. Flair, the bar at 62nd floor is beautiful, with a wide selection of drinks and snacks, and the Chinese restaurant at 39th floor exceeded our expectations: wonderful atmosphere and amazing food. Altogether it was a memorable stay. We wish to be back soon!

Nanjing always seems to me to be a real Chinese city - I love trying to explore. The metro is easy, the city is well-connected with Beijing and Shanghai. The people in my experience were very friendly and there is a lot to see, both in museums and outside. There is a real sense of history here.

Wonderfull town, loaded of historical buldings and events. Walking on the wall is simply fantastic (6km), i cannot list all things to see there : ceramic pagoda, great wall, lake, canals, Sun Yatsen mosoleo, Purple mountain, NiuShuSan Buddha scenic area (south), Japanese Holocaust museum, town museum, and do on... 1 week is the minimum to see everything.

Nanjing is not a crowded city.

Nanjing is not a crowded city. Most attractions are within the city and can be easily reached by subway or bus. The cost of transportation in Nanjing is very reasonable. There is so much history to see and experience in Nanjing! However, the people are not used to the sight of foreigners in town. Expect to get taken pictures of or approached by curious children.

I enjoy the peace and calm of the area.

I enjoy the peace and calm of the area. It is a clash of urban development projects and towering skyscrapers. Community members are endearing. Getting around is easy but pay attention to your distance requirements/preferences to the cbd from your hotel and the distance from your hotel to the airport. Research!!! I stayed for a day for work but I got a glimpse of the cbd. It is neatly trimmed and sprouting with skyscrapers and relaxed community members. Quite my scene.

Each time I have been in Nanjing, I absolutely enjoyed my time there and I would highly recommend it to anyway travelling to eastern China. Although Nanjing might be less-known than other cities in the Shanghai hinterland like Suzhou and Hangzhou, it is definitely worth a prolonged visit, especially because it is so easy to go there by train from Shanghai. Being a culture-seeking tourist, the following short list of places to visit in this former capital city is already somewhat like a candy store: the former Presidential Palace, the mausoleum of Sun Yat-Sen, the Nanjing Massacre Memorial museum, the former residence of John Rabe, Nanjing Museum, multiple temples and pagodas, an impressive city wall, the Gate of China, the archaeological site of the former Ming palace and the mausoleum of emperor Hongwu. And, obviously, the buzzing city life in this student city (about 20 universities and institutes of higher education) is far from absent with plenty of shopping malls, street food shops and restaurants in Xinjiekou and the historical Qinhuai river district. I would definitely recommend everyone to check it out and give it some thought on planning your (next) trip to China.

The owner of the hotel speaks perfect English, helped with pick up from airport. Very nice support and service. Rooms are very clean and large. Hotel located not far from airport in very quite village style corner. Not much attractions around. Very near college and small shops with food and other stuff. Breakfast is very simple chinese style, so be aware if it suits your taste. But if drive by car, not very far you can find KFC (if I remember it right). Photos of room on web-site matching the reality.

The hotel is located walking distance from the city centre hub. It's also about 100m from the metro station and hospital if needed. The rooms were quiet and clean and has bathtubs in them and great views of the city and mountain area. Staff were friendly and spoke enough English to communicate with us. We didn't use their restaurants or bars though as we went out all the time.

The location is incredible: I opened the window of my room and I was literally inside Fuzimiao, the Confucius Temple! Walk 50 metres (maybe even less) and you are in central tourist Fuzimiao area, plenty of food, shops and people. Very cheap, I spent 316 rmb for 2 nights in a dorm for 4 people. Very clean, staff very friendly and helpful.

Tidy rooms, amazing location. Friendly staff who were helpful and accomodated us even thought we can't speak any Chinese. It is in a very beautiful area which is pedestrian only- so no cars or scooters. However, I did get lost on arrival as the taxi could only take me so far- for somone new to China this could be daunting.
