Zhuhai is bursting with good cheap food (including fresh seafood) from all over China and massage joints. If that’s what you enjoy, you’ll be in paradise. Also right next to border with Macau. You can literally walk into Macau for a different experience ie huge splashy casino hotels, Macanese or Portuguese food and history.

Hygiene is an issue as the facilities are not well maintained. I like the public transport system in Zhuhai. It is easy and cheap to move around. Perhaps the city can consider building a MRT/MTR system to bring the people around like Hong Kong and Singapore. The people in Zhuhai are polite and friendly. Keep it up. Hotels in Zhuhai is easy to book and affordable. Actually there is no need to book online but can try to book on the spot when you reach Zhuhai. There are plenty of budget hotels around Zhubei Gong Bei Port ranging from RMB 278 onwards.

The best was to use DIDI (Uber service) the drivers are much more friendlier than the Taxi drivers and cheaper. Lovers lane was clean and safe to walk. Very clean city compared to other cities. Bar Street was a great experience for a night out. The Irish Clover is a great place to watch rugby. Know your prices of branded goods before buying anything at the malls.

Very nice and pleasant city. A lot of local people speak English, which is not something you would expect in other Chinese cities. Cost for traveling is really low comparing to nearby cities, and would recommend anyone to stay longer if have a chance. The nightlife is especially good!

I come to Zhuhai to work for 5-6 weeks in the summer. This is my fifth year. I really like the small city feel it offers, while being close to larger areas and more touristy areas, such as Macau, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen. There is not an over abundance of things to do, but it is a great jumping off point to visit the places I had mentioned. Just be prepared for a very hot, humid, rainy summer. The humidity and bright sunshine is almost unbearable at times. Even in the evenings, the humidity can make being outdoors very uncomfortable and wet.
