Palomino has become a place where foreigners go to have fun with drugs, alcohol and sex. The hotels are owned by foreigners who do not know the balance and good treatment with nature, I think it is a disturbing tourism for the communities and nature... Lots of noise in the surroundings

Palomino has a reputation for a relaxed place and lifestyle.
Palomino has a reputation for a relaxed place and lifestyle. This is not entirely true as most of the beachfront is built up with fenced off resorts. The quality of the food and cocktails is generally low to average at best. There are nice people, too, of course, but there is very few backpacking/hippie style going on.

This is a great town for beach vibes , good local restaurants and a bit of night life. There are lots of travelers but it isn't too touristy. Still an easy-going beach town. Go now before more tourists find it! A float down the (shallow) river makes for a fun day and leave some time for some cervezas on the public beach at the end. If you take a motorbike to the trailhead, be prepared to hang on tight and ask for a helmet - health and safety doesn't seem to be a thing here! Buses are easy to catch on the main road and tuk-tuks/motorbikes can be hired for getting around town, although nothing is too far to walk. Lovely beach, great for a walk and surfing during our visit in January. Not sure about other times of the year. Plenty of beach front properties offering food and drinks. The town streets are not tarmac, some muddy patches during our stay, no pavement beyond the first block, if you don't use a tuk tuk or motorbike on arrival to your hostel, you are carrying your bag, no wheelie suitcases!! No parking either, if you are driving, check where you can park. Probably a torch in some areas after dark, definitely along areas of the beach, would help and although we stayed away from main town would imagine it gets very lively after dark! Sorry, but personally, there are too many dogs begging for food, most didn't look starving, think the restaurants may feed them, but I don't like dogs begging at the table. Seems throught South America, its a problem, but really noticed it here, especially with a dog rescue nearby.

They arranged horse riding on the beach and a visit to an indigenous people village for me - both activities were wonderful. My room had a private terrace with a hammock. There are also hammocks in the common areas of the building. Wifi signal was strong and reliable - good for work calls. Hope to be back one day!

As palomino is in low season, the hostel is perfect for relaxing by the pool or coming back from the beach to have a drink and chat with other guests or staff in the evenings. On the days we wanted to go out partying, they recommended the best places and best of all, you can always walk everywhere. They also seem to be trying new options with breakfast and it was delicious every day.

This is located super close to the beach and the main part of the town but also very quiet at night. Would definitely recommend staying here.
