I definitelywould recommend staying at least overnight to be able to enjoy Guatape. The day trip just doesn't cover it. Plus a bonus is being able to walk around in the morning when nobody is around!

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in the cute little town of Guatape. We climbed up the Piedra del penol rock and the views are mind-blowing. We also enjoyed our stay at La Pausa hotel with stellar lakefront views. Loved Guatape:)

I spent 3 nights in Guatapé. Lovely town.
I spent 3 nights in Guatapé. Lovely town. Such a relaxed vibe. I think it’s a shame to just come on a day trip to take of few photos of colourful buildings. It’s a nice place to stroll the streets, especially in the evening, with many great restaurant options. I could have stayed longer. There are plenty of things to do like go on a boat tour, or climb la piedra. Walk throughout the streets and shop or chat with the friendly locals. Or just relax with a coffee and a treat at the many cafe’s, or a beer at one of the pubs. If you are not in a rush to cram everything into a day, I’d recommend staying at least a night.

What a colorful town.
What a colorful town. I read so many people do just a day trip but I’m so glad we spent the night. I wish we would’ve spent 2 nights. You have to climb the piedra but also give yourself enough time in the town itself. We did a boat ride but I wish we would’ve had more time to do other water activities as it’s just so pretty.

Gutape is cool, not polluted and so safe that people leave doors open. I wasn't given a pavilion key and the door could easily be opened if the nearby window was open. There are two main towns, El Penol and Guatape. El Penol is larger and more everyday paced; Guatape has restaurants by the dozens to cater to the tourists from Medellin, Colombia, and, increasingly, from another continent. The altitude is such that it is between 62 and 78 F. year round; however, global warming seems to have raised the maximal temperature to 80F. or a bit more. The "lake" is beautiful, steep promontories along a winding "coastline", dotted with secondary homes of wealthy Colombians for the most part. Last notice is that the place is above 1800 meters and I had altitude sickness, which would have dissipated over a few days. The only tourist landmark is a giant black rock that Colombians seem to find attractive and they can climb to the top. I found it a dark, mass that ruined the overall scenery. To each his own.

Busy but charming town. Lovely waterfront.
Busy but charming town. Lovely waterfront. Makes every effort to entice you to buy beautiful things you don’t need. These are well-made crafts. Charming houses. A bit noisy with most cafes playing loud music, although I found one playing delightful piano jazz and I lingered there. A few hours in town was enough for me, though, and I was glad I stayed a few km away.
Clean rooms and good helpful stuff. Small Hotel but has everything what need. Two saunas, jacuzzi- wire pool, fire pit. We had
Breakfast included, but had to make ourselves, they giving all products: eggs, cheese, butter, milk, juice and Colombian pancakes.
Was very good area, very close to La Penon hill. Can take automoto or walk to the hill. Guatape center is just 5km from La Penon hill. We took boat tour from Guatape and asked captain to take as to hotel, because hotel has a pier.
Great location and very comfortable accommodation and safe! It’s not the usual hotel, the keys are on the door and you speak with the host via WhatsApp. He is very attentive and always answers right away. The room was very clean and comfortable. There is a shared kitchen space as well as washing machine and dryer. Just a short walk to the beautiful town of Guatapé. Absolutely stunning views from the patio of the hotel! Definitely recommend it!
Room has a great open room of the courtyard. Although many of the trees cover the view of the lake from the room, you can sit on the balcony and get a better view. The hotel is definitely quieter than staying in the center of town, but be prepared to take a taxi or tutu to get lunch or dinner. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the center of town.
I visitied the hotel during a recent trip to Guatape. I had the privilege of staying for two nights on the Premium shelter, it was an amazing experience. The suna and Jacuzzi look directly into the lake and the property has beautiful garden all arround. If you are looking for a unique experience in the quiet part of the lake I strongly recomend it!
It is the best location in Guatape. The hotel is actually at the half hill of the Giant Rock Guatape and has a panorama view over the lake area. The staffs are all very friendly and helpful. Beautiful garden and houses with patio, it’s very relaxing sitting in.
We loved the location. We could easily walk to La Piedra and even walked into Guatape. It was quiet. The host was exceptional at answering questions and assisting us, especially with transportation.
This hotel is amazing! The views are absolutely stunning. I also highly recommend the food at the restaurant. It was very good and fresh. The crew was also very nice. We will definitely come back.
The location is great! And the beauty of each room.
The best part is the jacuzzi.
The hotel offers massages at your own villa - the ladies who offer the massages are very good.
We loved our rooms with big balconies, plenty of light and air and comfortable beds The hotel is in a great location and the staff were friendly and helpful (especially Andreas).
We enjoyed our stay in Guatape. The apartment is convenient, even though it is not in the city. With two rooms, we had a comfortable stay, allowing us to split the resting area.
Jairo the host was super attentive and made us feel very welcome. The attention to detail was spectacular with this hotel. I’ll never forget this place! Amazing!
