This is a hidden gem of a place and the pictures/online presence do not do it justice. Very friendly staff, robust breakfast, quiet and interesting space once you're inside/on property...a little mini-oasis, and just a quick drive or walk down to the beach. I would stay here again coming or going from the Liberia airport in a heartbeat.

The location was amazing, room were basic but they had private washrooms and air conditioners to keep cool. Lots of shelving to keep clothing and belonging organized. super cheap to have them wash some clothes, it was around $3 usd per kilo. loved the hammocks in the common area. all the tables were great for playing games while having a drink, very laid back vibe. the fridge in the room was fantastic.

Great location to start your trip to Costa Rica, it's 30min away from Liberia. The hotel has a good restaurant right next door and a small store right after. Less than 10 minutes away from the beach.

Excellent location with a short walk to a quiet corner of Coco beach and some delightful restaurants. The mature gardens and pool area were well kept and never crowded. Our room was spacious and comfortable Breakfast each morning was unfussy and enjoyable. We liked the nice touch of the provision of two camp chairs for use on the beach. Sitting under a tree by the beach in the morning before the heat of the day was a real joy. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Ocotal beach and the surrounding beaches are mostly for sun-bathing and wading. There are warnings for undertow. The sand is sharp volcanic cinder sand, thus a mix from dust to small stones. I can be uncomfortable to walk on some portions of the beach with bare feet. The beaches are very clean, uncrowded and very scenic. It is easily accessed.

Having a car made it possible to visit several beaches in the area-Ocotal , Coco, Hermosa, Potrero, Brasilito and Conchal ( the shell beach!) We loved the bird sounds and feeling of seclusion. Soda Teresita at the Coco Beachfront was good for cheap Costa Rican food. Watch out for the sand fleas at sunset!ScottUnited States - 10Scored 10

We loved this beach much more than the neighbouring Coco Beach. It was quiet, clean and perfect for families just wanting to chill without the hustle and bustle of a crowd. You can grab a bite to eat at Father Roosters on the beach which has delicious food and drinks. If you can stay to watch the beautiful sunset 🌅AlexandriaCanada - 8.0Scored 8.0

This Bed and Breakfast is excellent value for your $. The location is very hilly so great walks to the beach and up to higher neighborhoods for excellent views. The breakfast was great and an opportunity to meet other travellers. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance and you may need a car or a cab for dinner after dark. I also took advantage of the day pass at Maracuya - great value to use their pool, beach and restaurant. Its about 20-25 min walk from the Hotel Ocotal.

My stay was too short - would definitely come back again If the opportunity arises. The staff was so helpful, even scheduled for someone from a Lab to come to our villa to take our covid tests for the return home, which was so convenient for us.

Sandra and Patrick were excellent hosts and communicated well prior to our trip, as well as made us feel very much at home during our stay. No supermarket of any kind near beach so I would recommend buying food and supplies before you reach the hotel. Cocos is a few miles away (taxi ride was 3,000 mil) each way. The room was great, the pool was awesome, the dogs / cats are cute and the kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook. Ocotal beach and beach bar is stunning! Our hosts were super friendly, helpful and interesting to talk to. We had an amazing few days enjoying the area (having your own car is recommended to help get around). Peaceful bliss!
