Pretty beach...and waves ...I would have preferred calmer sea. The jet skis come in too close to the shore and are hardly ecological.
The fish restaurant on the beach is really good.. lovely staff and very fresh food at reasonable prices

The beach was a little disappointing.
The beach was a little disappointing. The access to the beach was piled with trash bags and recycling that needed collected. The concrete tables were in disrepair. Old tire laying on one of the broken benches.
The dinner and show at Villa del Sueno was great!

Really loved this calm, friendly beach.
Really loved this calm, friendly beach. The water was calm for swimming and lovely to look at. There are four nice open air restaurants facing it, we liked all of them, although Aqua Sport played very loud music at times, when the sound of waves and birds would have been much nicer.

Hosts were more than gracious, we had a small issue with the water heater and it was taken care of at our check out.
Very nice and available people. Gave us some great advice on restaurants and places to go. Would stay there again.

Playa Hermosa is a wonderful, small area with a fantastic, calm, sandy beach and a front row seat for the beautiful sunsets. We stayed here for our last night in Costa Rica since it's only a short drive to the Liberia airport. I would suggest spending 1 or 2 nights here at the start or end of your vacation. It's a nice alternative to staying at the airport hotel and it's very easy and quick to get to the airport by rental care or transfer (25-35 minutes depending on traffic). Just make sure that you chose the correct Playa Hermosa, there is more than one in Costa Rica!

The beach surroundings looked a little burnt out, very dry, not as lush and green as compared to the beaches down by Manuel Antonio or Uvita, Costa Rica. Please note that we did visit here during the dry season.
Lots of space in the 2 bedroom apartment for the 3 of us - my husband, sister and myself. Very clean with nice bathroom with a great shower.15 minute walk to 2 areas of Playa Hermosa beach. Great balcony with a forest across a busy road so saw many birds there. Very good air-conditioning which made the apartment very comfortable as it was hot while we were there- 32-36C during the day.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. Good supermarket underneath.
The property is beautiful, with lots of plants and flowers and very close to Playa Hermosa (max 8 minutes walking). We enjoyed staying there for 3 nights. The kitchen was well equipped. The room very comfortable including the bed. We could swim/stay at the swimming pool and play a pool in the little house that was at the propery. All in all, I was very happy to choose Moon Shadow and we would stay there again without any hesitation.
We had a lovely two days at this basic family hotel. We loved the closeness to the beach and the cleanliness. We didn’t use the pool but it was very clean. The furniture is basic and dated but the beds were comfortable and everything worked. Breakfast was basic and tasty. We appreciated that they let us access our room early.
The location has an amazing view of "Playa Hermosa" which can hardly be described by anything other than being there yourself, while at the same time being very close to the beach. The breakfast was an unexpected and delicious surprise, with a beautiful view in the restaurant, and more food than we could actually eat.
It was very clean. We arrived after closing, and although the office was locked and we were worried, within a few minutes, an employee at her bus stop came back to let us in. It had a double bed and a fold down couch, which is better than a hotel room. The pool and hot tub, and deck area were clean and attractive.
Very well maintained property, friendly and helpful staff, quick access to the beach via shuttle (special thanks from the 2.5 year old traveller). The beach (Playa Hermosa) is picturesque and clean, all the facilities are right there.
Overall a great choice for a family vacation.
The location was perfect, on the beautiful black sand beaches of Playa Hermosa. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was delicious, although slightly pricey. Short drive to Playa del Coco for more restaurants and shops if you were interested.
The buffet breakfast was excellent, huge variety. The pools were warm and spacious..staff we so helpful..close to playa Hermosa and some wonderful seafood restaurants…good snorkeling at far end of beach ..secure parking for our rental
Food was pretty good for an all inclusive; friendly bar staff; nice swimming pools - one was closed on our last day though; good location as right on the beach;
Nice cocktails and lovely outlook at meal times
The hosts are amazing...kind and generous. Had breakfast basic in the fridge on arrival and was gifted a lovely lasagna dinner in the middle of the week. Joanie even brought me into Playa del Coco one day.
The hotel was clean and fresh. The grounds were beautiful. The staff was incredibly gracious and welcoming and helpful. The breakfast that was included was made to order - very nice.
