I found this gem of a place in 2022 and was excited to come back! Set in the nature, with private and unique path to the beach, grabbing a surf from the rental shop on site and getting to the beach early is a magic ...the cabins are comfortable and beds are spacious. Sebastian, the manger, was friendly and helpful attending to us during our short but busy stay! Can't wait to come back and stay for days to fully immerse.

It's a very relaxing place with a nice pool. Staff is pleasant. Parking was plentiful. The bed was very comfortable. The property was nice and breakfast was good. Great location with quick access (<10 min walk) to the beach for several good beach restaurants. Right next door to a night market which was buzzing with good food and music.
The set up was streamlined but very welcoming. The breakfast was very simple - 2 pieces of bread and an apple left in a brown paper bag. Good idea to allow guests to be self sufficient, but perhaps something a little more substantial is preferred especially if you have a long journey ahead.

I had the most wonderful experience at this lodge. Everything is perfect, the bungalows are modern and clean, the bed is so comfortable, the bathroom is exceptional. I would sit and stare at the amazing view mountain and sea view from my bungalow most evenings. My bungalow even had a bed with a built in large flat screen TV that would retract in and out of the bed frame. The site also had a wonderful infinity pool, a bar and eating area where lovely breakfasts are being serviced. The lodge also has a hot tub hut with a relaxing hot tub. All in all a very peaceful and relaxing experience and its close enough to Tamarindo or another nearby beach that have a large variety of bars and restaurants with a vibrant atmosphere. Lolo who is the owner of the lodge provides a wonderful service and make sure you are happy and comfortable at all times and is always up for a fun chat :) The BEST news is that the road to the lodge has now been fixed so it is comfortably accessible for all cars! You cannot go wrong with this lovely piece of paradise.

This is a great hotel. We we worried from some of the reviews but it appears a lot of people are too precious! The towels aren’t thin like a lot of people say. Pool is really nice but could do with some shade. The exterior could also have a paint touch up. Brekky really good and the air con in the rooms was probably the best I have stayed at.

Playa Avellana is a beautiful beach and well-known to surfers. There is a lot of surfing there. So it's not recommend just for swimming or messing around in the water since it can be dangerous. No lifeguards.
It's a beautiful beach to visit and even spend the day - there were lots of local families there enjoying it - and surfers will love it.
The access roads are difficult as is parking. Probably not feasible if you don't have a 4x4.

Playa Avellana is a high quality surfer beach but low key for real surfers, while us folks not on boards could have fun watching along with swimming and walking. The fish and chips at Lota's was also outstanding, along with the mellow beachside vive.
