We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Heredia, although, unfortunately, it was only for one night. The place was very clean, easy to find, and the hosts were super friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was terrific, as well. Such a beautiful place.

Heredia is less a hazzle than San Jose downtown and offers a typical colonial architecture. The stores and the lifestyle offer an authentic impression what typical Tico Lifestyle is. Also now there are two modern shopping malls there, Paseo de las Flores and Oxigeno. In addition its closer to the airport than San Jose.

I was welcomed by Fernando and Olga into their home, and made to feel like a family member. The room was clean and comfortable, with a queen size bed, a sofa, a hammock, a sunny deck, a table, and a flat screen TV with multiple cable channels. I was treated daily to hot coffee and a bowl of fresh fruit. The location is just a few blocks from the town center, with many restaurant, soda, and shopping options nearby. I look forward to staying with them again on my next visit.

It is near many restaurants, 150m from a supermarket and a car rental site, 500m from Universidad Nacional, 700m from a small mall and a bank (where you can exchange US Dollars to Colones at good exchange rate - bring your passport).

We enjoyed wandering around their property, taking in all the towering trees that makeup this idyllic yet lively landscape. We especially enjoyed their trio of family dogs and the relaxed atmosphere we felt throughout our stay. Though we travel as a couple, they had flexibility with sleeping arrangements to accommodate families. We plan to return before we have a last farewell to Costa Rica! The chalet is very cute, luckily there is an electric heater because it can be cold in the mountains. The scenery around the hotel is beautiful, with a very nice view on the valley!
