Not convenient for La Fortuna.
Not convenient for La Fortuna. It was a 20 min windy road drive each way. Nuevo Arenal was really noisy with dirt bikes and cars driving through. City has little to offer as far as food and entertainment.

The town is beautiful and located in a beautiful lush area.
The town is beautiful and located in a beautiful lush area. There are cute little restaurants and sodas. The locals were very friendly. My only complaint would be that the restaurants and stores etc close too early. It was hard finding something to eat/drink later in the evening

No power in the room the morning of our departure and no return call. Wine undrinkable. Bunk bed not for adults. Mattress very thin. One person cooking and cashiering for restaurant. Hope everything works because no one is coming. Claimed power outage but noticed it only affected our 2 units. Wiring looked suspect in our room.

The road between Nuevo Arenal and the Arenal Volcano is gorgeous, true jungle scenery complete with lovely views and roadside animal encounters. The resort is 8 miles from town, but shares space with two other dining establishments as well as a quick shop for essentials. Spend a week, sign-up for some outdoor adventures, especially by visiting the Arenal Observatory Park and the Mystico Hanging Bridges naturalist tour. You'll have truly lived the Monteverde experience!

The area is beautiful with mountain and lake views.
The area is beautiful with mountain and lake views. People are very friendly. There are many great restaurants and eating spots to enjoy, including a brewery/restaurant on the lake. We would love to go back. You need to have a car to see this area of Costa Rica. Getting around was easy - the main roads are good, but the side roads are rough. We did take some drives into the "country", and saw some interesting areas and also great views. The climate was very comfortable - mostly in the 70's deg. F. We didn't near air conditioning in our rooms.

Our accommodation at Agua Inn was excellent - great hosts, wonderful breakfasts. We ate at several local restaurants and enjoyed some great meals, including the local Costa Rica style tacos. Favourite places were The Gingerbread House restaurant, Moya's Place in Nuevo Arenal, and Lake Arenal Hotel and Brewery on the other side of the lake at Tilaran, where we ate lunch and tasted their beer and cocktails, Le Bistro at Hotel La Mansion on Rd 142, where we celebrated my husband's birthday - wonderful view of the lake from there. There are so many more good places to eat and enjoy a view - too many to list here. On one of our outings, we took the coffee and cocoa tour at Don Juan Tours, Monteverde. Four of us had our own tour guide, who was most excellent, and he led us through the gardens, demonstrated how to grind coffee beans and we drank the coffee. Each of us actually made our own chocolate, following his instructions from grinding the cocoa beans, to mixing in other ingredients to our liking. We also had hot cocoa. So fresh! They have a nice store there as well where you can purchase coffee beans and other souvenirs. I purchased the Peaberry Coffee Beans which are 100% pure coffee Arabica Costa Rican and some pottery espresso cups, just like the ones we were served coffee in during the tour. You definitely should rent a car if you are travelling to this area of Costa Rica - there is so much to see and do while there. It's easy to get around - the main roads are paved, but you can certainly find some very rough roads if you venture into the countryside, which we did, travelling up and down and around the mountains, taking in the full flavour of the area.
This property is a diamond in the ruff. I am so glad I found this hotel, my stay was so peaceful. What this place has the most is birds, and no need to go to bird tours if you stay just a few hours here. I have never been so close to birds in Costa Rica! no need for binoculars either, the toucans come so close the owner is able to almost hand feed them. If you’re an animal lover, stay here. awesome view and huge field to run around if you have kids too.
Carlos and Werner are exceptional, warm and helpful hosts! We’d spent 3 nights in Nuevo Arenal, Werner and Carlos provided us with a lot of informative tips on activities - thank you again! The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the communication with the hosts was quick and efficient. PLUS Carlos is a passionate cook and we had THE best breakfast in Costa Rica! We would love to come back some day!
This property is GORGEOUS - the hotel, the grounds, the pool, the surroundings. The rooms were clean and cozy, very comfortable beds, bathroom with hot shower, toiletries. The owner and staff are super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed and even things we didn't even know we needed. The included breakfasts were delicious. We will definitely be back!
Marita and her husband are the kindest people, took really good care of us, asked which breakfast preferences we have and we had very good local and austrian (!) breakfast!!!
The terrace and the garden is wonderful and the location is near restaurants and lake and you even have 2(!) really really good Italien Restaurants in Nuevo Arenal !
The tropical garden at the bed and breakfast is delightful. We enjoyed Marita's wonderful breakfast as we gazed over beautiful foliage and bird-watched. The hosts gave excellent suggestions about area activities and provided a very helpful map. Watching the sunset from the nearby lake park was terrific.
The property was charming, with lots of birds, animals and insects - including fireflies! One of the hosts (Rob) was super friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient to La Fortuna, Rio Celeste and near some beautiful views of Lake Arenal. Drive to the property was so scenic!
great spacious villa with stunning views! Lovely and very kind staff. If you like horseback riding i would recommend to book a ride directly at the hotel. Mingo will show you all the best parts of the forest and lake views! A ride i will never forget!
Great place to stop over between La Fortuna and Tilaran/Monteverde. Bus stops right outide the hotel. Nice bright room, garden setting with views, many birds, good bed, great shower. Friendly owner, early check in was possible. Very nice stay.
Carlos and Werner are excellent hosts. Carlos created a different gourmet meal for each breakfast. Werner was like a personal tour guide recommending many nearby sights. We were treated like family. This is an outstanding B&B.
The host was fabulous and the staff was excellent. The location is convenient to many day trips and there are many good restaurants nearby. The included breakfasts were traditional and delicious. Highly recommend.
We were surprised to encounter more than 80 species of birds on and near the property. Beautiful views of Lake Arenal, and the food was superb as well as the people who worked there.
The staff are the friendliest we have ever had in Costa Rica. The restaurant there is exceptional.
They have a warm and cool pool with an amazing view.
Excellent budget hotel! Clean and spacious room, fantastic views, nice veranda, all blissfully quiet. Friendly and helpful service and lovely breakfast.
