We were disappoined in Tamarindo ~ it felt like a tourist trap with all the sidewalk tour booths. We went snorkeling with one of the booths by the beach which was definitely NOT worth it as there was absoluately nothing to see. We discovered Native Way & booked a tour to the Estuary which was excellent compared to another guest who booked from the booths by the beaches. I also heard many of them are scams as they want a deposit which will be the last you'll hear ofthem. We would recommend Native Way if you want to book any tours. We were disappointed becaue Tarmarindo was more expensive than we expected. There were only a few "shops" that were not filled with "souvenirs" that were probably not even made there. Go to the Night Market on Thursday or Farmer's Market on Saturday for unique gifts made by local artisans. Food at Restaurants were good but not the prices. We recommend Tabu & Pico Bistro. Pangas is over rated... food was so so but atmosopshere was out of this world.

Excellent villa but disapointed with the reception.
Excellent villa but disapointed with the reception. We told them we were arriving at 1 and when we did they said we had to come back at 3 - why ask what time we coming then? They gave us the keys and the map on check-in but noone took us to the villa to show us around and tell us how everything worked. So off to a bad start. I am sure the owner thinks they are paying for a better service to be delivered. The villa itself had everything you need and was comforatable and clean. Cleainng staff were very good. Travelling around Hacienda Pinilla at night is challenging as no street light and easy to get confused (we did) - OK afer a couple of days and you know your way around. Good restaurants at the Marriot. Need a car to go anywhere.

Everything is walking distance.. lots of shops and restaurants to choose from. Love that you can walk the beach to anywhere and also access the town from the beach. Lots of different food options. Town is small but big considering and noisy with traffic but beautiful! A 5 to 7 day stay is good!

This was our 4th time in Tamarindo.
This was our 4th time in Tamarindo. We usually stay a couple nights at the beginning of our trip to pick up our car rental and then head south. This trip around we ate at La Palapa restaurant. We also LOVE eating at El Chiringuito. We had a great time hanging out on the patio of Handle Bars where they have great craft beer and people watching!

Tamarindo was a busy tourist town when i visited in January.
Tamarindo was a busy tourist town when i visited in January. And every body seems to rent car so even this small town has its traffic jams. The people are friendly. There were some sketchy guys offering the usual sketchy stuff but a simple no worked and I never felt unsafe. Lots of great food, farmers market on Saturday morning and craft market on Thursday evening are a must-see. Restaurant and tour prices are not cheap. Buy basics like sunscreen in advance. The country's commitment to environmental issues is outstanding however be prepared for open grey water ditches that come with a musty smell. Also you need to keep your eyes open walking around as there can be unexpected potholes and hazards like open drains.
But overall a nice vibrant little town. Well worth the stay.
I love that every morning they have a wonderful breakfast buffet that is included in your stay!
I love that I could walk from my room to the beach in five min and in between was the pool!
I loved how secure the property was by security and staff traveling as a single woman!
I loved that the staff were friendly, kind and actually loved their jobs!
I loved that this resort made my heart fall a little more in Love with the people and Costa Rica 🇨🇷
I loved everything about this location and will be booking again in November!
BoHo was a phenomenal hotel. The location couldn't be better- a two minute walk to the beach and walkable to everything in Tamarindo. Johanna and her family are super responsive and answered all questions we had and made sure we were comfortable at all points of our stay. The breakfast every morning was icing on the cake- everything was delicious and was a big portion! I look forward to coming back next time we are in Tamarindo.
It had a cozy feel. Room was an okay size and clean. The bean bag sitting area was surprisingly very comfortable and enjoyable to relax in. Breakfast each morning was traditional Costa Rican food and very good. It’s worthy to note that there are no options for breakfast besides the 1 being prepared. That was no issue for me, I’d rather have less options.
Amazing B&B just outside of Tamarindo, you can rest in the quiet property but get to all of the local beaches and restaurants really easily. Their homemade breakfast was fantastic and they brought it to our front porch, and they were incredibly attentive and helpful during our stay. When, not if, we come back to Costa Rica, we will definitely stop by again.
Highly recommended, one of the only places Ive stayed in Costa Rica where you get what you pay for!
Lovely friendly and helpful staff
Spacious comfortable rooms
Amazing big shower with hot AND water cold taps, good pressure :)
Breakfast included too which the other places I stayed for the same price had only cold water tap in shower and no breakfast!
This was a very nice resort hotel in tamarindo. It’s great for recovering after all the hiking and sightseeing in Costa Rica. The grounds are beautiful and there are plenty of monkeys and animals in the trees. The 3 pool areas are great and getting a sunbed is not a problem. You can get an Uber to the airport which is 10 minutes away.
The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Staff exceeded all my expectations and the hotel made it easy to meet other travelers. The weather was very hot in Tamarindo, and the hotel's pool was a great way to cool off. AC and a mini fridge was also a relief to the extreme weather. I would definitely stay again!
Beautiful, chilled out hotel. Great location. Spacious, clean room and bed really comfortable. Relaxing pool area and tasty, varied breakfast. Even seen howler monkeys and raccoons outside back of hotel in the trees. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Would recommend as a base to explore Tamarindo.
This hotel is a little gem within walking distance of Tamarindo's main strip and beach. The pool is lovely and big enough for swimming around. The staff is terrific, accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend.
Hotel was new and clean, pool was lovely. Breakfast was amazing, the best hotel breakfast we had in the whole of our stay in Costa Rica. Owner of the hotel was also lovely and helpful too. Highly recommend
Nice pool, seems to be clean and not too much chlorine. And the beds are really super comfortable! the shower has hot water too, never had that before in Costa Rica!
Great little boutique hotel in beautiful Tamarindo. Comfy room, gorgeous pool, and very clean. Owner is very sweet and makes herself available most of the day.
Beautiful room. Liked how private and safe it felt. Owner is extremely nice and helpful. Definitely would stay here again if we went back to Costa Rica.
