We had to go all the way downtown for a bank machine.
We had to go all the way downtown for a bank machine. Information, such as bus scheduling was non existant at the station. You had to find someone who was familiar with the buses. There's not a lot of reason to stay in Liberia. It's more of a "stop off" due to the airport. Most eating places are downtown. There's not a great selection outside the core. Liberia is not a tourist friendly city.

Liberia is a good place to start traveling around Guanacaste...
Liberia is a good place to start traveling around Guanacaste and the Pacific northwest of Costa Rica..A good place to arrive as the airport is not as busy as San Jose. There are stores, including a large Walmart where you can get supplies. But I would not stay in the city except for 1 night when flying.

Liberia isn't a tourist town.
Liberia isn't a tourist town. It does allow you to see real Costa Rican life - which is the best part of travel. We walked all over town and always felt safe. It is also better to stay here than further north because you can catch tours that pick up travelers in Liberia.

I really enjoy Liberia.
I really enjoy Liberia. The downtown area by the park has lots of shopping. I went into a pharmacy and they had a free dr. who quickly diagnosed my problem and prescribed a medication that worked very well. There is a family run laundry with a half day turnaround. I really enjoyed a restaurant where the ceasar salad was made in front of you. It is two blocks from the main intersection on the right hand side of the road.
What would be very useful is a map of the city. We asked locals for directions and they were very helpful in directing us to what we needed.

Not a fun place if you are lacking in Spanish.
Not a fun place if you are lacking in Spanish. Our bad but just letting you know.It just generally didn't have a friendly vibe, except for some family oriented restaurants. Glad to leave after one night.
The best thing is the little hanging spot, where there are hammocks. Feels like a piece of heaven, surrounded by nature, flowers, and humming-bird. There is also a small kitchen and a fridge, allowing you to save a few bucks and cook your own meals and breakfast. The bathroom we used, which included a toilet and a shower, was very clean! It is also near supermarkets, sodas, and the bus terminal, with buses going pretty much everywhere in Costa Rica! Overall, a really nice spot, and would recommend to anyone traveling to Liberia!
Located right across from a mini mall, a variety of fast food chains/restaurants, and within walking distance to central Liberia. Felt safe + comfortable for the night.
Basic rooms with hot water, balconies that overlook into the lovely pool/ garden area and a nice breakfast with a variety of options.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Natalia was exceptionally helpful in responding to emails promptly and helping arrange a taxi from the airport ($25) and a shuttle ($130, 5pax) to Penas Blancas boarder.
The staff and energy of the place made me feel safe and at home. The staff had great recommendations on how to get around, were diligent to pick me up from the airport and were always available to assist.
The outside kitchen in the back was equipped with what you needed to cook. The rocking chairs and hammocks placed throughout were very comfortable and all the plants and trees were beautiful.
It was a very convenient distance, everything in Liberia was very walkable from the hostel.
The staff are fabulous. Rooms are clean. Air conditioning was nice. The hotel can provide a shuttle from the airport for a very affordable rate. We had a very long day of traveling, and it was wonderful to have a ride from the airport. They also provided a ride back to the airport the following day so we could pick up our rental car. The food was very good, and affordable. our son enjoyed the pool quite a lot.
Very nice staff and great location. It was good for my one night near the airport, as I needed to be there early the next day. They arranged a cab for me which was super helpful! The AC in the room worked great and there was a good shower with plenty of hot water. Dinner and breakfast were pretty good too.
Room price and location near airport (long walk on busy highway) was good. Room was clean, quiet and basic as expected for the price. Reception lady was somewhat helpful but difficulty with language (our fault-- not theirs). They have a shuttle but we didn't use. Not sure of cost.
The Tipico breakfast was good. Nice large pool with a waterfall. A shallow children pool and play area. There are several peacocks that roam the grounds. Beside the hotel is a shopping mall with grocery store and bank.
About a 20 minute drive to Liberia airport.
We stayed here twice when we were passing though CR to get to Nicaragua. It is super great, close to the airport and the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had!!! The family who runs it is sooo sweet. We will stay here everytime we pass through Liberia.
A small clean hotel close to the airport, a perfect price/cleanliness ratio. Nice and friendly staff. Hot/warm shower, soap, towels, AC, mini fridge. Transfers - not included, paid separately but easy, comfortable, and great price - $15 USD.
Immaculate hotel grounds with walking trail and roaming peacocks!
Housecleaning staff did not hint for room cleaning tips.
Pool
Hotel is on main road to airport and close to intersection with western fast food.
Lovely restaurant and best breakfast we had during our two week stay in Costa Rica. Great pool area. Ideal for an overnight stay before heading to Liberia Airport.
Nice rooms, passable food at the restaurant and very clean. Plus, it was easy to get to and from the airport. What else do you want from and airport hotel?
