Very lovely gardens and landscaping. The pools were great after a hot day. The staff were really helpful, especially Gabriel at the front desk. Nice location overlooking the main street of Montezuma.

Such a pleasant turn of events. We ended up at Hotel Nya for one night last minute after booking at another hotel in the area that was just a bit too noisy and hot for our 2-month-old infant. I had seen the property before and thought it was stunning, but was nervous to book a typical hotel stay (sharing walls with others) with an unpredictable, potentially crying, infant. Hotel Nya was able to accommodate us last minute and allowed us to enjoy the pool facilities while we waited for our room to be ready. I wasn't sure how baby-friendly a property this nice would be, but they provided a travel crib, left some milk in the fridge, and even had a kiddie pool and toys next to the main pool. Great water pressure, comfortable bed, great AC. The property feels very boutique and was mostly young couples and one other young family.
The location is just minutes from the Montezuma waterfalls and Montezuma Beach but still feels very lush, private, and part of the natural surroundings. Though we loved our visit to Santa Teresa, Montezuma felt like a much more authentic Costa Rican town. We had one of our best wildlife experiences of the trip here when we were treated to both Capuchin and Howler monkeys swinging from the trees at dusk-- right outside our room! We watched them play for half an hour from our balcony. I would have loved to have had more time to explore the trails on the property.
We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, Ubin, which was one of the best meals I ate during our week in Costa Rica. (Get the sea bass.) Even though it's a very upscale experience, we never felt uncomfortable when our baby was a bit fussy during the meal. Breakfast at the restaurant (included in our stay) was also delicious. We would absolutely stay here again if we returned.

I really like how it was surrounded by trees and jungle. The room was perfect and the balcony had such a great view. Andre was extremely helpful and very welcoming.

You must have a car to get around to the beaches of Montezuma and the roads are rough. Grocery stores are hard to find if you want to cook at all in your rented villa. Ocean super warm and wonderful--loved Tambor beach. Wonderful fresh fish market there.

Very small town with little to do. 3-5 nights is more than enough time to see the area. Tourists (and locals) on loud motorbikes and ATVs are everywhere day and night. Not the quiet jungle getaway we imagined.

Montezuma is such a great place.
Montezuma is such a great place. So chilled, the locals are so welcoming and it just does its own thing. There are a number of good places to eat in the very small town so try everywhere out especially in the farthest reaches of town. And shop around for trips. There can be quite a difference in price with the different outlets.
During turtle hatching season, be sure to go to the beach to the left of the town and you'll see them dug up and then marching to the sea. It's a heartwarming and unique experience. Also, go back to that beach at night to see the most wonderful stars.

Small but charming and lively resort.
Small but charming and lively resort. Excellent restaurants (particularly fish dishes in 'los Artesanos') and cafes and very easy to book tours through local operators. Crashing rollers and risk of dangerous riptides made swimming somewhat risky, though ideal for surfers. A 40 minute walk along beachside path to north brings you to the magnificent beach of Playa Grande where swimming is a little safer, if not risk-free. A short walk to the south is Montezuma waterfall; it's a must-see although access requires proper footwear and some scrambling/rope work. Swimming in the refreshing pool and launching oneself from the adjacent rocks beneath the falls is highly recommended; not so, climbing up the slippery rocks immediately adjacent to the waterfall as exhibited by some foolhardy locals!

This is a very welcoming place made with a thought for the guests and their comfort! It has everything you need for a top experience, the team was perfect - they take care of all you may need, so you can simply be and enjoy life at the Montezuma beaches! Having the option to cook your own meal, makes it perfect for families with children, but very near-by there are also good restaurants - from 5 stars ones to the simple Sodas - and if you can - dont miss the Soda (Artesanos) nearby, the food there was superb and the prices - surprising in a good way!

It's a very small village, but it has its vibe. Moreover, there are many things to do around: hiking, surfing, swimming, watching bioluminescence, trip to the Isla de Tortuga is also possible.
There are plenty of beaches around, which are within walking distance.
Despite its size, there are a few very decent restaurants where I would like to go back.
If you are not looking for a crazy party place, it's a fantastic spot for a vacation.
Very pretty big house with a great kitchen and pretty garden around with fresh fruit. The rooms are nice and clean, though there are a lot of ants and other insects due to the forest around. The host ist very nice and always available for any issues. Only slightly negative thing is the location, as it is quite far from the small city. It’s 30 min by foot down to the beach/Montezuma or a 6000 colones taxi ride up/down. The host does however offer to drive you up/down one time a day.
Overall we had a lovely time!
A little jewel in a quiet location. Cabuya is really quite a place, I don't think you would find yourself here for any length of time by.mistake so if you find yourself at this hotel then you should soon realise why. Incredible wildlife and truly stunning views and sunrises. Jim the owner was helpful and interesting to chat with. We stayed at three different locations around Costa Rica and I miss them all but if I could choose one to return to then Howler Monkey Hotel would be it.
Beautiful Spot. Walking distance to Butterfly Brewery & Restaurant (just at the end of their lane, 5min). There is a shortcut to the Montezuma waterfalls from their property. The views are breathtaking. Rooms are very comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. Rooms have small fridges. You also have access to a larger shared fridge if needed.
Also the staff on site was wonderful. My only regret is not staying longer. Highly recommend.
The location of the hotel is ideal, a bit off the main strip of town, with lots of greenery around.
Lovely common/breakfast area with hammocks, from where we could see monkeys some mornings.
Breakfast is simple, and includes a choice of pancakes/toast/cereal and fresh fruit and tasty coffee - in the heat you don't need much more!
Everything was perfect! Location, the food, the wildlife! We saw more wildlife staying at the hotel than on our excursion! The place was beautiful and eco friendly! 2 minute walk to the beach or downtown. Refreshments on check in. Desserts in room when we got back from town. All the fresh coffee you can handle. The list goes on!
The hotel is located within tropical garden with numerous palms and trees just next to your balcony. The hotel is small - just several rooms, what also gives the feeling of peace and calm. Nice breakfast served downstairs. Very pleasant pool with sunbeds around. Just 3 minutes drive to Playa Montezuma.
The hotel is a gorgeous renewed colonial villa, surrounded by great nature. It was passible to see monkeys and other insects/ animals. The owners/ managers were great, very nice and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing. Overall the best stay of our 3 weeks in Costa Rica. Absolutely recommend
Have stayed at Pura Vida Hostel Montezuma many, many times throughout my travels to Costa Rica. Each time returning to beautiful Montezuma I book myself in to Pura Vida Hostel. Love this hostel. Clean, friendly and with helpful staff members. Thank you guys for being so very welcoming.
This hotel is amazing. You have to see it to believe it. Amazing view of the ocean. A waterfall and many animals nearby.
One of the best hotel experiences I ever had. Even a small problem, at check-in was solved quickly, friendly and in a very professional manner.
Good location right in the center of Montezuma. The noises didn't bother me but I can imagine it might get quite loud during high season. The rooms are quite spacious and the host was always around trying to fix hings even of without avail.
The pools are great for both adults and kids. Calm environment and is great for families or couples. The staff was nice and it felt like a secure area overall. Nice playground at the park for the kids at the front of the hotel.
The view on the ocean and the beach. The balcony in front of the room. Located right in the middle of Montezuma. Good accomodation for a group of people traveling together, staying a few days in the area.
The location is the best part of this hotel! They have a beautiful backyard area where you can lounge and hammock. Cleaning services and reception booking tours for free was also great!
I liked the owner and the staff a lot. Lots of hammocks and good free breakfast. Everyone was super nice who stayed there and the location is pretty central to everything in Montezuma.
there are only 3 cabins in a quiet place between Montezuma and Cabuya. The owner is a great guy and lives there with his family. Great pool, a 2-minute walk to the beach.
