Perfect place to relax if you like a beach destination.

Perfect place to relax if you like a beach destination. In the island there are plenty of really nice white sand beaches completely empty. Very calm place. I would not recommend it though if you are looking for a party place, they have a few bars but not many people around. Locals are lovely and food is great. Good for a relaxing holidays but I would not stay more than a week as there is not much to do around.

Sal Rei is small and the locals are very nice and sympathetic. The local language is Portuguese but you always gonna found someone that speaks English. In the center you can found cellphone chip, gas station, supermarket, bakery, simple but good! For those who wants to Kitesurf, Morabeza beach is the point, the wind is offshore and gusty, but most of the kite schools they have a little boat that can help you to come back to the beach, rescue your board, etc.

Sal Rei is a small, developing town that is really hoping to expand and attract more visitors. The locals were friendly and we felt safe walking everywhere, even at night. There is construction going on everywhere from the town square to housing on the outskirts. It was about a 30 minute walk from one side of town to the other, and taxis were readily available. Roads are cobblestone and/or dirt, so sturdy shoes are a good idea. Cash is recommended, as there are still many restaurants and shops that do no accept cards. It's a good idea to bring Euros with you, as the ATMs do not always have money (Escudos) available. The beaches are beautiful and not crowded, but can be quite windy. The serra at Té Manché was excellent, as was the pizza at Ristorante Pizzeria O Gato & A Raposa.

-It's a small town where you will soon feel like you know half of the people. You can get anywhere on foot, however there are always taxis aroud, if you get tired. -If you're a solo traveller, I highly recommend you to go Wind Club where there are cool people hanging out at all times. -The best food I've had on the island is in the restaurant Sodade: delicious food, very friendly service (which is not the standard on the island) and beautiful interior. -We also did a half-day tour, starting at the Museo dos Naufragos (Shipwreck Museum) which I would highly recommend if you want to find out about the island's history, continuing then to the shipwreck, Viana desert and the small town Rabil.

Sal Rei itself is still in development.

Sal Rei itself is still in development. There is a lot of construction work in progress. One can see what it might be like in the future but at the moment it might come in the class of the cheap alternative. It was fun but not beautiful.

Excellent and non crowded white sand beaches.

Excellent and non crowded white sand beaches. Beach bars on reasonable prices. The only unsatisfying thing - beach bar kitchens are closing at 4.00 p.m. Friendly local community and smiling people. Local transport on the island is very basic and no predictable without schedules and timings. The most reasonable option - to rent a quad for some days. In this case you will be asked for driver's licence. Local shops are very basic and there are no grand supermarkets in the European sense. Fresh fish are available only in the morning hours in so called local fish market close to port. If you are not able to make your dinner from scratch, the best option are local restaurants.

I really liked it at Sol & Mar bungalows, the 'package' was great, location absolutely amazing, just a few steps away from the beach, intermediate walk distance to the airport or Rabil town, for food and beverage. The breakfast was amazing, fresh fruits, coffee, bread with ham & cheese and egg, spaceous and bright bungalow and bathroom. Diane was an amazing host, she was helpful, tried everything to fix problems and recommended interesting places to visit nearby.

Michela is a very sympathetic host. She gave us very good information about the island and good restaurants. And the first night she brought us to the grocery so we bought some food. The apartment is very clean and has a perfect location with Seaview. I can 1000% recommend the apartment. Thank you for being such a nice and warm host Michela. When we come back to Boa Vista we will stay there for sure again 😊

We had a fantastic stay at Maury's place. The house is colorful, rooms are spacious, clean with a good bed + hot shower. Breakfast was super good and homemade (you have to try the carrot cake and yoghurt ). But most importantly, Maury is the best host you can hope for! Helpful, always with a smile, a word or a tip on where to go, what to do in Sal Rei. We will definitely go back !

The most responsive hosts ever, and an awesome, lovable crew! We had some issues with the facilities that were immediately taken care of. Away from the city and the noise, but still perfectly walkable to almost everywhere. Small shop and a couple of nice bars near by. The beach is just across the street. You can hear the ocean from your apartment! 🤯

The building was clean, quiet, and convenient to the beach, town, restaurants and surf shops. The apartment was spacious and clean. The balcony was a great place to sit when we were ready for a break from the beach. The kitchen was equipped for cooking and was even stocked with some basics when we arrived!

The price was unbeatable, for the size of the room/location/cleanliness. The owners speak French, likely Creole and Portuguese. If you speak German it‘s s bit of a language barrier! But very, very nice couple. Sal Rei is very small, and everything is very accessible

Quiet and calm place near the long and wide sandy beach. Good hospitality. The only thing to consider is transportation - nearest shops and cafes are not really reachable without a car or taxi. Sal Rei is 10 minutes by the car. Airport -5 minutes.

Proximity to beach and beach cafés. Also to town facilities and shops. We took a quad bike experience which was really unusual over several different terrains. And of course the self catering accommodation
