Djibouti is not a bad city, I think the government needs to spend more money on infrastructure upgrades, it's possible for Djibouti to be more attractive to visitor if infrastructure upgrades were made.

Fascinating, but expensive country.
Fascinating, but expensive country. You should definitively go outside Djibouti ville, but this is possible just with a tour or with rented car (I strongly recommend you the second option, the price for jeep rental starts from 80 USD (+ petrol), but the tours with driver are usually more expensive. Lac Assal (incl. hot springs) and Ardoukoba volcano is for one day, while count at least 2 days for Lac Abbe. Both trips are highly recommended. Unfortunately, I did no go to white sharks tours on the sea due to the lack of time. Next time.
Strongly recommend at least some command of French.

Coming from Ethiopia, Djibouti cannot offer a lot that is really special. Country completely overpriced, people not that friendly, many scammers!
Djibouti was my country #70 and it was the first trip ever I am regretting!
Do not go there - not worth the money, not worth the time - and on top too much hassle and energy sucking!

Djibouti is a great and valueable destination for 1 week staying holidays.
You'll appreciate breathtaking landscapes in Lac Abbe, Lac Assal, Goubet, and wonderful beaches in Blanc Sables, Koh Angar, Moucha Island.
You'll like the friendly people and constant feeling of safety/security during all the journey, so don't be afraid to go to this "uncommon" destination.
Unfortunately it is quite expensive, and poor services (don't forget it is Africa and few tourists -by now): for instance we weren't able to rent a 4WD car, and the only way to move around the Country was to purchase an operator package, but this gave us the opportunity to meet Daniel and his great staff (Bambu Travel), we had an amazing (co-)guided tour but with the flexibility of a self-service tour (and their special advises, opportunity to meet local people, etc).
Diving below expectations (if compared with Red Sea).
